RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted February 29 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 29 Bear here..... Out of the Bear Pit @ 0530 today (that's late for Bear, often) as I had a shift at the Hospice warehouse; a Good Day - friendly, interesting people as always. Lots of out n' about delivering & collecting from various of their shops. I also helped the CEO by repairing a table then loading it & chairs into her car - Big Tick earnt.... I also spied a rather nice, boxed & unused Halfords foot pump** in one of the boxes I was delivering to one of the shops - I rescued it and asked the shop manager how much she wanted for it - three quid, so that's another tick. I'd never just take anything without money changing paws cos' that stealing from terminally ill people.....as well as being just plain wrong. (** I have a leccy pump but that's quite noisy - and if I needed to use one during the hours of snooze I most definitely wouldn't be popular with the neighbours....) I also spotted that someone had put a boxed, very nice vintage Meccano No.1 clockwork motor in the scrap metal bin 😲 inside the warehouse - I soon rescued that and handed it over to the Warehouse Manager(ess), mentioning that Ebay would be a much better idea; she's clued up enough to recognise such items and would've rescued it herself, had she also seen it..... (On the subject of clockwork motors, where's @Florence Locomotive Works lately? Hope all is ok). On the subject of naughtiness, Bear did have a Pizza tonight - 100g of CF's *may* also have been involved..... ...and the Driver I was working with today offered a slice of Cuthbert the Caterpillar Cake....what was a Bear to do? Oops. I reckon I'm still below the "norm" (just) for adult calories today though, so I'll try not to beat myself up about it too much.... RMweb Premium Popular Post The White Rabbit Posted February 29 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 29 Evening all. Mixed fortunes today, some bits done in the garden and on the house repairs. A sparky due for tomorrow to hopefully fix a few problems there. But still no news from the doctor (ticking clock with nasty consequences if he doesn't pull his finger out PDQ). Some progress made on admin. And an acquaintance has had a baby today, cue comments about leap years, saving money on pressies, aging slowly etc.. The parents are having second thoughts about names ...

Baby is doing fine but her mummy ended up in the ICU for a day having lost 2 litres of blood. She is making progress now but still was having to lie down and not sit up yesterday.
RMweb Premium polybear Posted February 29 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 29 Bear here..... The latest: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-68435167 His spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh said they had been unable to find a hearse to drive the body to church. "Unknown people are calling mortuaries and threatening them if they accept to take Alexei's body," Ms Yarmysh said. It is not known which members of Navalny's family will be able to attend the funeral other than his mother, Lyudmila, who recently publicly accused the authorities of withholding her son's body. Navalny's children Daria, 23, and Zakhar, 15, live abroad. His widow, Yulia, is not thought to currently live in Russia, but might be at risk of being arrested if she returns due to her work with Navalny's team and her recent public declarations in which she blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for her husband's death. Popular Post woodenhead
Rough night last night, woke several times varying complicated dreams including one where I witnessed bad cops killing multiple people in an abandoned warehouse and whilst trying to escape them they planted the gun used to kill people on me so I'd get the blame. Wow, where did that come from, it had the hallmarks of a movie. I did once experience a dream that actually had end credits! Felt quite low this morning, not sure but I think I am actually depressed, not so bad that I cannot function but enough that nothing is giving me joy and if this has been going on some time it might explain the poor sleep patterns. Today was another day off, so me and Mrs W took a trip to Pendle Hill and walked up the steep way and down the easier way. A nice hour and a half walk, could have gone further but for the awful wind up on top, it was freezing and making my ears hurt despite a hat. Despite the forecast, it stayed dry so no slippy conditions to contend with, then off to the Calf's Head pub in Worston for a meal, decent GF menu for Mrs W. Not sure what tomorrow will bring, I fancied tram surfing South Manchester again, but Mrs W fancies doing something different just doesnt know what yet.

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted February 29 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 29 Good evening everyone Another busy day here at BSW towers. The workshop has been tidied up, so that Charlie and Max will both have room to work, I’ll probably not do a great deal myself as I’ll be supervising Max, but still be able chat to them both. I also did a little more work on the cellar floor, I didn’t get much done, but I’d guess I’m now about 70% done. Hopefully I’ll get the job finished some time next week.

RMweb Premium Popular Post petethemole Posted March 1 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 1 I frequently have dreams that are like scenes from a movie. Last night I was lost in an English city that I should have been familiar with, but suddenly found myself by a narrow gauge railway somewhere in what was probably the Balkans. The motive power was dwarf camels, that actually looked like Shetland ponies. The train took me to somewhere that was either at war or on the brink of war, where I met up with a British spy who thought I was also one. There were heavily armed security men or soldiers, and a scene involving boats in a harbour, following which an armoured train sped past, machine gunning everything in sight, and I woke up. I had had mushrooms for tea, but not that sort. 2

Ozexpatriate
17 hours ago, iL Dottore said: It's inadvisable to weigh yourself every day - daily fluctuations in weight can be up to about a kilo or so depending upon a number of factors ... The most reliable way of weighing yourself is to weigh yourself once a week at the same time on the same day, after voiding (solids and liquids) before eating or drinking anything and preferably completely unclothed. This helps smooth out the daily fluctuations in weight. Flavio, I concur regarding what you say about fluctuations however I remain a fan of daily weighing - with the recommendations in your second paragraph. It is indeed important to not be alarmed by daily fluctuations, but going a whole week can encourage trending bad behaviour which can go unnoticed with a week between measurements and result in a big shock. Much depends on one's temperament. Daily weighing can be a good reinforcement while weekly measurement is the way to assess progress. 12 3 3

I'm treasurer of our muddling group and haven't had any contact with HMRC for about 30 years - that was when they asked our exhibition manager how much he got paid for organising the show that had been featured in the local paper ! Thanks We are set up as a limited company, therefore legally required to put in returns to HMRC. Technically if a club is NOT set up as such, all club members at the time of the incident, are held liable for unlimited costs should there be some sort of unfortunate disaster, such as someone sueing the MRC, or your insurance for an accident not being as good as you hoped and as we all know solicitors / lawyers bills can get very expensive. Limited companies are " Limited by Guaranteed" our club is limited by guarantee to £1 which means that is all we each are liable for should the club go bust. ( That's a limited explanation I believe it's a bit more complicated). The above is not as unlikely as you'd think, one of my sailing clubs threw out a member ( an ex policeman!!!) due to his behaviour. Basically he started causing chaos because he got the hump at not being elected to the committee by the 400ish members, which tells you a lot about him, because every committee I've known has been short of elected members!! He took the club to court at being thrown out and we could have been held liable to all the legal costs and claims for damages, that could have bankrupted the club. As it was, although he won the case on a technicality, due to an error in the procedure of throwing him out, the judge must have agreed with us because he was awarded £1(total) and no costs!!😀 and there are solicitors and lawyer members of the club which kept our own costs down. He also got reinstated to the club, but after one year of membership and no one talking to him, he left.. That club is now also set up as a limited company, it's not expensive to run, IIRC paid HMRC £13 to keep the registration this financial year. Our previous treasurer set up a spreadsheet to produce to figures in a format that is acceptable to HMRC. I just copy and paste the set of running results into the HMRC spreadsheet, then it does it's stuff, then pass the results to the club chairman who submits the company returns. 5 1 9 6
