5c and dry, looks like a decent if chilly day is to be had.

 

No orders of the day have been left, so maybe some mudelling and a walk somewhere is on the cards.

A fine sunny morning with much less wind.  The first job in a few minutes is a small amount of shopping then church.  The shops and church are about 90 seconds apart by car, perhaps 5 minutes on foot.

 

This afternoon a small amount of DIY may be done, depending on whether Mr. Hernia is prepared to cooperate with the required movements.  He was in a bad mood yesterday.

 

In any spare time it will be the usual work on photos and models.  I think I may have worked out why my sore painful heel is not improving, I hope some measures put in place last night will improve things.  I found that the vinyl floor covering in the bathroom is worn enough that any bumps in the floorboards can be felt through it, I was often standing barefoot with one of the little bumps right under the painful heel.  I have now put a spare piece of the vinyl underneath, it makes a big improvement.  I had intended to do something about the floor recently but the hernia got in the way of organising it as standing in shops to choose things is at best uncomfortable and at worst very painful.

 

It is at the top of the list for after I have recovered.

Well if we are going to play the big boy version of my dad is bigger than yours and using voting rights as the basis for physical geography, I will raise your Norfolk Island  with Madeira and the Azores (Portuguese autonomous states), French Guyana, Guadalupe, Mayotte, Martinique and Reunion (French departements overseas -DOM).  Not only with voting rights within Europe but also appear on the map of the EU as printed on bank notes.  😁

Fair enough, I'm not sure how far Macquarie Island, Christmas Island or the Australian Antarctic Territory is from here!

Our trip to the RVI in Newcastle yesterday ended with perhaps more positive results for Kath. The surgeon who will be doing her operation seemed enthusiastic that the mass on her adrenal gland can be removed by keyhole surgery. He also mentioned that he would never have said it was cancer, although there is a chance it may be. He is one of those doctors who know how to put people at ease, a not inconsiderable skill. Now there will be six to twelve weeks of tablets to reduce the adrenaline output so the mass can be removed. Doing the op without this preparation would result in a very bad outcome for the patient. I think I got that right. Still not out of the woods but progressing.

The cockatoos are busy demolishing someones flowering tree down the road which has given other varieties of parrots the chance to move in and stare at me pathetically through the window until I give them  an almond.

BUT!    once I have my trained birdy  airforce under my command I shall be unstoppable!! I will  be able to command them to do things like ummm... like ummmmm....

Adding it up,  I am spending about 20 bucks a week on almonds, parrot pellets and mince for my flying minions and apart from those couple of times I got them to poo on the  @polybear car for the LOLs,  I have just realised that they aren't pulling their weight.

 

 

OK, there was that  one magpie that did at least try to teach me to talk magpie in return for food , but he wasn't impressed by my feeble attempts to mimic him and he gave up in disgust at the end.

 

. Actually for all I know he was teaching me magpie swear words  or just R2D2 sound effects so even he probably doesnt count.

Back from my eye examination at the polyclinic (was expecting an appointment last June, but at the eye hospital, so going to the local polyclinic is a big win.

 

The membrane in my bad eye (not able to read with that eye, but can see) has worsened. I could ask for a referral to a surgeon to have the membrane removed, but that would likely lead to an eventual cataract. Since I'm ok to drive with one good eye, I'm happyl go with the "review in 6 months" alternative. With my natural tendency to think about worst possible outcomes, I call that a good result.

People were talking about the exit gates at Sainsbury's. My local branch has had those for several months. Generally a pin in the proverbial and tending to need to get a guard to let people out.

But for the last 3 weeks, every time I've gone in there one of the exit gates has been open. Hope that continues.

 

Meanwhile, they reintroduced £1-in-the-slot trolleys a few months ago, which is really annoying.

You often find trollies with over-large trolley tokens jammed in the slot for free!

They must have drawn that after a really windy day before we got the tugs to pull us back.  I think next closest after the Isle of Whithorn (Jockalia) is probably St Bees, over your way.  I'm up in the top bit of Fraggle Rock BTW.
