RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted January 15 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 15 (edited) Morning all to Estuary-Land. I retired at 59 when I saw that the lunatics (HR) were taking over the asylum. The only regret is I didn't do it sooner. Thinking about my road accident on Saturday it occurred to me that it could be a "Cash for crash" scam, I will pass my suspicions onto my insurers. There were actually two accidents, the first involving myself but the second when the other driver reversed immediately and struck a passing motor scooterist. This is one thing that has aroused my suspicions as he then jumped out of his car and started taking photographs before being told by a passer by that he'd struck the scooterist. Also I had my lights on dipped beam and he made the turn across my bows quite suddenly only signaling as he did so. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 15 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 15 When I drew my lounge curtains this morning I saw a couple of foxes, a dog fox and an obviously pregnant female. A bit early in the year to be in cub but I hope that the cubs when they come are OK. 11 2 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted January 15 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 15 I woke nice and early so the housewok is done, one load of washing is done and dried, the second load is on. The lady from Ago Co has been and sorted out the cleaning I need for some weeks after the surgery next week. It helped that her father and brother have had hernia surgery so she knew what I will and won't be able to do. It was all very painless and I can pay by direct debit which is easy. It is cold, -1C with bright sunshine with shower clouds a few miles offshore. It is far too windy for a white frost, everywhere is nice and dry. It's too cold in the wind to go for a proper walk, I may go to the local shop shortly and then go to see the sea and get five minutes of fresh air. Then there is tomorrow's grocery delivery to sort out and that's about it. I retired from teaching when I was 56 and was then offered work as an IT consultant by my school, sorting out software and network issues on a part time, work from home unless you need to visit basis. I did that for eight years until the head retired and I didn't want to try working with someone new. I also worked out how many staff were needed. did the timetable and made sure the curriculum worked. It will be 19 years this summer since I retired from teaching. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted January 15 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 15 (edited) Good morning everyone Another day, another round of eye care etc, but to be honest, I don’t mind doing this at all, it’s what Sheila would do for me if the table was turned. Anyway, a short shopping trip is planned for Waitrose soon, so best get on with it. Back later. Brian Edited January 15 by BSW01 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted January 15 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 15 It hasn’t snowed, sleeted or rained here. Clear blue sky, sunny but cold. It is 1C just now but the weather app states “feels like” -5C. I haven’t been out though. The solar panels, just need sunshine, not warmth so our storage batteries are charging up nicely. The production of marmalade planned for today was halted as the weighing scales needed a new battery. I found some in my coat pocket that I had intended to put in the car glovebox and hadn’t done so. RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted January 15 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 15 Yesterday, a family member came round for a Christmas visit but not due to the Wales 20mph sleigh speed limit - rather to long hard hours working for the Santa & Sale deliveries to store. His gift tag reminded me of a certain bear @polybear , and a few others among us. I hope you can get back up onto your paws and prowl around in Drivellers Wonderland again, soon. 21

Popular Post tigerburnie
We seem to be surrounded by snow, cars on the road coming back from the chemists were mostly covered in snow, but we have none, snow gates are closed on the hill roads and we have a yellow warning for snow and ice, fires lit and cheese butty consumed, feet up and there may be some eyelid inspection as we have had a walk. 14 3

Once I taught at a school in the Peak District. On Friday afternoons we'd do a "show and tell" session. One girl wanted to bring in a lamb from their farm, but I managed to dissuade her... Another in my class had a dad who was a fireman - we never had any problems getting a fire engine to attend the school fayre.

Popular Post Ian Abel
Monday, and MLK day (federal holiday) so a lot of places take the day off. Schools closed etc. Weekend was quiet, spent mostly inside due to weather! Finished a puzzle that was quite the challenge; "City by the Sea" - Frank Lloyd Wright It was -22c when I got in the car Sunday morning at 7:30am to head for the services we were singing at! Reached a dizzying -20c for the daytime high! Today, Jemma dropped Whitney off at 8am as she's headed out for a 6-day, two round trips to London. We'll be staying in due to SERIOUSLY COLD weather. @Tony_S -1c would be tropical 🤣 First thing/Whitney drop-off time, -20c with a wind chill of -28c, expected high soaring to -17c. It's sunny but at these temperatures who cares! Carry on. 14 1 3
