I have got as far as checking that next year is a leap year, I'm not sure why I needed to know.

 

This morning I've done the housework so eveywhere is clean and have emptied and cleaned both the Shark and the hand held one.  Then I went to the dentists, as usual I parked almost outside the door and was seen on time.  Nothing needs doing, just a routine clean and polish next month to try to combat gum problems.  I remembered to tell her that I am taking tamsulosin as it can sometimes cause teeth problems.

 

On the way home I had a walk at the beach.  As I walked into the house the washing machine bleeped to tell me it had finished, in a few minutes it will bleep again to tell me it has done the drying.  The the second load can go on.

 

The rest of the day is presently empty, I am just going to make coffee and then what comes next.

 

It's mild but cloudy here.

During the Kilauea eruptions some years back some fool took a tour boat too close. One of the tourist passengers had a broken leg when a lava bomb penetrated the 'roof' of the tour boat and hit the passenger. 23 were injured. Shorter video news story.

Good morning all,

It's a grey sort of day but at least it's dry and currently 12°C.

Late on parade although I was up about 06.30.

Old furniture was put out yesterday  on the front of our property and was collected by the council at 06.50.  Well worth the £35 charge.

Yesterday's family gathering and meal was excellent and a great time was had by all.  Rugby was recorded but as I've seen the result of the Quins match I don't think I want to see them getting hammered by a French side.  There are a couple of other games to view though.

Now then, I have a confession to make.  Bobby has been a very naughty boy and succumbed to temptation.  Those very nice people who sell interesting things in Sheffield have been bombarding me with special offers and in the end I have given in after dithering for a while.  With a bit of luck and a following wind a set of 3 O Gauge Stroudley coaches to keep my Terrier company will arrive in the next day or two.  This does mean that digits will have to be extracted to finish off what I'm doing on the OO layout so that I can then carry on with the O gauge plank.  What is remarkable is that Management has been quite supportive of this expenditure....well what she actually said was "Oh for heaven's sake just buy the things otherwise you are going to be nightmare to live with if you miss out!"

Er yeh, I call that supportive.  😉

The cunning plan that Derails have of adding a mini pack of biscuits to parcels  has worked well. Aditi rather liked the ginger nuts and wondered if I had any more. I said unfortunately my batch of pre orders was now complete.

I love this time of year but I must say I am struggling this year. The days are going faster than I can manage and things lurking in the background are trying to pull me down!

Wrapping the presents has been a bit beyond - wrapping paper too easy to tear (bought last year but I'll still use it up) and the sellotape sticking to itself before it is anywhere near the paper are just a couple of things that have been winding me up! 

 

And, the constant drumming of the wet stuff outside and having to work in artificial light...need I go on. What happened to the dry December sunshine?

 

Also, albeit less time on it, together with me being less demanding, my daily toot on the flute helps cheer me up. A bit of TV at the end of the day enables me to relax and...er...more often than not...doze off!

 

So MrPolybear let's turn it around and have a bit of fun. 

 

So...something to cheer us up - how my little plastic fife sounds in greater hands...

 

and something really beautiful to comfort the darkness.

I've a little Yamaha flute like that, but I've never got the hang of the transverse embrochure.  Its nice to hear it played properly!

As for bangers getting smaller, I buy ours from our local butcher, great value and good for local businesses. They are ‘hand’ (all right, with a sausage making machine) made in the shop, so they are never the same size anyway. However they are the best sausages we’ve ever had, they’ve also won dozens of awards for them too, including national champion more than once!

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The Items* that I was told would be delivered Wednesday have just been delivered. So I've got to urgently move a few things around to make space for them, I was hoping to to clear things for them tomorrow. *Three 'Really Useful' 35 litre storage boxes.

I must have more stuff to store, I got two 64 litre boxes from B&M on Canvey a week ago. Still haven’t put anything in them though. I can’t summon up the enthusiasm to,go out to the garage and tidy up.

While rummaging in the freezer the sausages I found are 400g packs with 6 sausages. Despite the brand name they aren’t actually produced by the Duke of Cornwall.

I probably was attempting to be slightly amusing about Aditi’s choice of clothing for holidays but I am always happy to learn something from following comments.  
When we went to:the  Canary Islands, Aditi was really excited to see all the volcanic features she had taught about years before when she was a geography lecturer.

Should keep you occupied in the run up to Christmas, there's nothing on the telly as there is...

 

I was watching a* Bargain Hunt "Christmas Special" whilst eating my lunch today.  It was so christmassy that the deciduous trees in shot still seemed to have all their leaves...

 

* I said "the" but there's probably more** all week...

There's something really rather powerful about seeing something you've studied in the flesh so to speak. Even the Falmouth Ria and Malham, both of which came up in my Geography O level.
