RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 2, 2023 Turnouts across board joints are fine, .... Unless.... You ever want to move the layout again. Many people also say no to angled track across joints. But with good board location, and PCBd track ends I've not had a problem. Mooring Awl, 4 hours sleep, long awake, 3 hours sleep, a good total helped by Ben the considerate Collie waiting till just 10 minutes before time to patrol before coming across to me. It's warmer this morning than it has been for several days, it was white slush out there, helped by a light drizzle.. By the time I'd finished making breakfast most of the asbestos had gone. Plans for the day, I'm told we are shopping in Sheringham and Cromer, the only advantage of this for me is Smith's models in Sheringham and Buoys toys in Cromer . Time to finish this muggacoffee before departure. 1

RMweb Gold DaveF Posted December 2, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 2, 2023 It's a fresh sunny morning here by the sea, -5C at the moment, it might reach 1C during the afternoon. My boiler is working hard and the house is getting comfortably warm. I am pleased I had slightly larger radiators than are strictly necessary, it does make a difference in cold weather. Yesterday's litle bit of snow is still here, the road looks almost like polished glass, I've just seen a car go by at around walking speed. I think I'll stay at home for now, if it is less cold this afternoon I might go to the beach - but I don't think it will be on foot. The basic plan is some model stuff, then coffee and old photos folowed by lunch after which either more model things or fresh air if it is worth moving the car. Whatever happens today the pavements here will remain slippery as the one by my house is in the shade all day which is why I won't go out on foot. Meanwhile I can simply enjoy not having to go out, I will happily forgo my jam doughnut and fresh rolls for once. David 6

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 2, 2023 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Freezing fog this morning and it's only just starting to lift. Currently it is minus one degree up from minus three degrees. Just as well I've no need to go out as the front of the house is very icy and likely to stay that way all day.
RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted December 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 2, 2023 Good morning everyone Another, bright, cold and frosty start to the day here in England’s northwest corner, where it is currently -3C. I will shortly be setting off to collect Ava, who is once again spending the day with us. Our first task will be to finish making the fruit tea loaf I left soaking overnight. Once that’s in the oven, we’ll make a start on decorating the Christmas tree, which will probably take us the rest of the morning and possibly part of the afternoon. After tea, Sheila, Ava and I will set off for RHS Bridgewater to see the Christmas light display in the gardens. We went last year and thought it was really nice, so I booked us tickets a few weeks ago. After the walk around the gardens, we’ll head for the cafe and get a hot drink and a slice of cake. Back later. Brian

Long, long ago before many memories were formed, I worked in a bookshop. I was due to finish at 5 o'clock. Mr Suvvern rushed in 5 minutes before the bus was due out - at 1 o'clock! It had just started snowing and the bus company decided to call it a day! The boss was none too pleased - he was from Scotland "where the roads never close." More recently, we were helping out with an exhibit at Ally Pally and went down with nationwide white stuff falling, the A55 expressway already closed, and the A5 being closed, a section at a time, just as we were driving through! There was a sprinkling of very slippy snow outside the exhibition hall so great care needed to be taken getting from the van to the entrance but no falls from me, for a change! The layout? Covered in deep frost! For real! 1 hour ago, iL Dottore said: No film star's career is without its misjudgments, and @polybear and @monkeysarefun are no exception..... The hills are alive... We were at RHS Hyde Hall yesterday. They have evening light displays too. We were there at normal winter closing time yesterday and they had just turned the lights and music on.It wasn’t that dark so,we didn’t see the full effect. Some of the music sounded like you would get in a Hobbit film, some was what Aditi called spa music then after a brief burst of Tannenbaum/Red Flag it was something you might hear as generic background. 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted December 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) Episode Two......... Our intrepid Bear, having got up early (ok - not so early) then headed off into the Arctic Tundra - which involved de-icing the Bearmobile (Jeez, I REALLY don't miss that fun....). I'd seen adverts for something called a "GoG Trade Show" in Guildford; now not even knowing what a "GoG" is or looks like I thought I'd be adventurous and find out..... So off I go.....and about 5 minutes later we get to...... Episode Three......... A little light on the dashboard decided to light up (Bear HATES it when it does that - it seems to like doing so much more than Ricky the Rover ever did**) so a convenient Pub Car Park was located and yes, it did look somewhat flatter than the rest. Fuggin'Rattin'Piggin'Turdycurses. So it was pumped up again, then turned on full lock so I can edge Mickey back bit by bit and check the whole tread. Nail? Nope. Screw? Nope. Some other B'sterd? Nope. Diddly squat. Zilch. F'All. Now not fancying changing the wheel for the space saver out in the Arctic Tundra, nor risking going onwards (swapping a wheel on the hard shoulder of the M25 isn't high on Bear's bucket list) I decided that a return to Bear Towers was in order. So it looks like I'll not discover what a GoG is or looks like after all. Turdycurses. **Maybe cos it didn't have such a light. Instead it was all the fun of the Co-op; at least they had a Carrot Cake on the half price shelf to console Bear. And the tyre pressure after returning from the Co-op? Exactly the same as when I pumped it up..... Bear suspects a dodgy valve (maybe) - I'll investigate post-din dins..... Unhappy BG.....
