More is expected. It's the first of this autumn/winter. David Our club member from Alnwick has obviously decided to escape the snow and come to Norfolk ..😄Actually he was back up there for a fortnight painting and decorating his old house for selling, before his final move down here. He was at the MRC tonight, working on a club unmentionable, as for my own unmentionable, work proceeded at an unusual rate, so much I finished early with nothing left to do to night. It was very worrying with him standing by my unmentionable and staring at it. , as he's a very good muddler.. P4 etc, an art teacher so very good at scenic work too. Added to the mud from potato picking. They have just started lifting the sugar beet as well, well they were, but... in that field a loaded trailer and the beet harvester are both sunk up to their axles in the mud.. All this talk of sad endings for furry friends has bucked up Ben, tonight he used SWMBO's reclining chair as a ramp and ran up onto the sofa to lie down next to me. Actually He's much better on his changed pills, much much much happier, he's not far off back to normal, though he'll be on the pills for at least a week more... Three more houses have sprouted flashy lights on the route to the MRC. I notice the cheap " cooking bacon" has disappeared from Tes and Coes as it normally does this time of year, I think they chop it up and sell it as expensive lardons for Christmas... Thanks to the 800mm lens I bought as a retirement treat for myself. But it's a new toy to play with and one that doesn't require 12 volts, weathering nor parallel strips of metal.

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 29, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 29, 2023 Good evening everyone Well, all the jobs I’d got planned for today were completed, plus a couple more that needed doing. So, by the time I picked up this afternoon, I’d retrieved all the Christmas decorations, the Christmas tree and all the boxes were cleaned off and wiped down with a damp cloth. They re currently stacked by the cellar door, waiting to be brought upstairs for the weekend. I then planted the last 40 bulbs in the garden and whilst I was outside, I cleaned and refilled all the bird feeders, which were all empty, so the birds will be happy now.

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted November 29, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Good morning all, Still dark but it's dry for now. Some showers possible followed by brighter spells. 3°C rising to 5°C. Up at silly o'clock as I'm taking the car for a service and MOT at 08.00. Fingers crossed but I don't foresee any problems in view of the fact that it's only done 5500 miles in the 4 years of its life, still looks like a new car and is running as sweetly as when I bought it. I do wonder if it's worth the expense considering how little I use it (using cabs would be cheaper!) but I've had cars since I was 17 and I think I'd find it hard to give it up. Mind you, eyesight problems might make that decision for me in the next couple of years. Only just passed eye test this year and new specs on order. I will be scaling Mount Loftladder today to retrieve the Christmas decorations. They will start going up ready for our annual Christmas switch on which is always declared open here on my birthday which is on Friday. Time for another muggatea for me but it's a bit too early to wake The Boss. Have a good one, Bob. Edited November 29, 2023 by grandadbob 18

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted November 29, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 29, 2023 Ey up! We used to have 3 buses in Leeds at this time of year.. donner, blitzed and.. rudolph .. suitably painted up. Haven't seen them yet so far this year but the local "villages" like Headingley, Meanwood etc all have their Christmas street lights up and on. Brightens up the very dark ( and cold) nights. Off to visit another famous layout owned by an RMWebber today.. then I am taking my Australian based friend to the MRC tonight. Rest day tomorrow! Stay safe! RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted November 29, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 29, 2023 Good moaning from the Charente. The car got two new tyres fitted but sadly the mechanic found that I need two new parts to the suspension I think the wishbones or their bushes. I want it right for a UK trip so another Deltic was sacrificed. He's ordering them in, The cough has now become a cold so I'm being accused of having man flu. I'm actually fine. We are off to the bank to move some money around this morning. Lunch will be scallops as they were on offer yesterday. Regards to all. Bear here...... SWMBO has decreed that "we" are going Chrimbo shopping today, after which she has decided that Bear "needs" to get the Chrimbo Decs. out of beamland and put them all up (including all the outside icicle lights on the guttering (front AND rear)..... and if that wasn't enough "we" also need to pick up all the leaves in the front garden. Oh yes, and "it has been decided" (not by me....) that A Certain Bear needs to go on a pre-Chrimbo diet. Just thought I'd type that lot to see what I'm missing. Nottalot....... ION.....
