RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted November 23, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 23, 2023 Goat Moaning all. Welcome to Thirstday. As usual it is grey, widny and clod outside. As usual I have consumed Muggertea the First inside. The only appointment today is to collect Dr. SWMBO at 22.59. This is a little later than usual because the fare available for her preferred train was not within her preferred budget; all the cheapest tickets had been sold before she booked. Before then the Distant (Signal) West must be cleaned and a quick shopping trip undertaken. Not the full Grand Prix - just five minutes to the Co-op and back for a few essentials. There may well be some attempt made at writing the book and there will be music at a later time when I am more receptive to such things. A post-breakfast snooze currently seems to be an attractive option. 22
RMweb Premium Popular Post RobAllen Posted November 23, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 23, 2023 Thursday already? I have tea and am planning to do some "continuing professional development" to keep my hand in the game as I try to find new clients to pay me to work for them. 3
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted November 23, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 23, 2023 (edited) A slightly brighter morning and still mild but very windy. I've just at the forecast for the next few days, I really must get out my thicker sweaters. I woke about 07.15 and decided not to rush. I had just got dressed after my shower at about 07.50 when I heard the sound of ladders outside, the roofers had arrived to repoint the verge (under the tiles on the gable end). As you may remember I've been doorstepped several time by "roofers" offering to the job for "only" a few hundred pounds by either replacing the edge with a plastic dry verge or by removing all the mortar and re pointing it. The ones who came today had a good look and decided that the only work which needed doing for now was to repoint under the two tiles at the bottom of the roof. They decided the rest was OK for a few more years. So it was all done in about 30 minutes. They are a local firm which has a proper office in a real building and employs about a dozen pairs of men. The last job they did for me they didn't even send me a bill as it only involved sorting out a small gutter leak, so I tend to trust them. The only downside is that small jobs take a while to get done as they are fitted in at the start or end of each day. In due course I will sent a bill which I can simply pay by bank transfer, if there are any problems I know where to go to see them. I shall go to church shortly and then have coffee afterwards. I think it is my turn to read the lesson today, that is all I have to do. Then I may have a walk in the park or at the beach depending on the wind. The rest of the day is once again a blank canvas, what I do will depend on the weather and how I feel after lunch. The recent clear-out, well attempt to, of truss-land produced vast amounts of such paperwork, (and some ancient CPD, on floppy disc!) quite why I had kept it I have no idea since it is some 15 years since I practiced in my last profession, but at least it was holding the roof down. A cheery blaze was had with it all, some things I had to retain for a period of time for legal purposes also were sacrificed to the log burner. Not feeling too great again this morning, is this long covid? We're both the same, SWMBO working from home but not in great form either. Woke feeling as if I hadn't slept at all, really lethargic. A walk may help but despite an un-rock like 12c at this time of year it is blowing a hoolie, not nice at all out there. I'll need to at least walk to the village shop for milk, but that'll be about it I think. I see the ferry is late and won't be sailing this afternoon due to the slots in the sea being too deep. Don't want to dent our nice new boatie.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 23, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2023 Morning all from Estuary-Land. No interruptions from bladder control last night but Arthur Itis had a couple of jabs until a brace of Nurofen put him in his place. Still managed six hours worth of ZZZZZ's though. SEERS meeting tonight, I will be picking up my friend and his son from the SEEVIC college were the boy will be attending from next September. His current school, Cedar Hall does not teach beyond 16 year olds. 17 1

Thats how I felt with long covid, it started about this time last year and lasted into the spring. The worst of it is over but I'm still not 100% but if I pace myself it's not too bad. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted November 23, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 23, 2023 ' morning all from red dragon land. Wow! Dry. A bit of blue sky. Double figures, too, all of 10.0C. Nice and warm indoors, that is the main thing. Trying to find some mojo to do a few of those get-rid-of-stuff jobbies but woke far too early this morning and feeling a bit bleary eyed 🥱 so it may have to wait a bit. A mugadecaf ☕* sounds a good idea so I think I will go along with that - for now. * <<that might not be large enough...try this for size ☕ >> Take care. Be good. Keep going. So he turns up here and straight away gets handed 1.5 million. Wheres my 1.5 million? And he gets free accommodation and meals, we should be looking after our own instead. And what about all the other countries between there and here he could have stopped in? Whats wrong with them? People like him are just laughing at our border policy, there'll be boatloads of them soon. All talking in the trains with their silly accents. We do have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manus_Regional_Processing_Centre going spare that he could rent off us. Which would be ironic given that his offshore detention policy is directly modelled from the previous Australian Governments one. 8 1 1 1
