Before you get worried that you may have picked up a stalker I can assure you that is not the case , I spend a lot of time with a geography based 'find this place' web site called GeoGuessr ,and as I have enjoyed your tales of ' Life in a French village ' I decided to see if I could find out where are you from the snippets that you have posted . I'm sure you have never mentioned the village name but using details like nearby towns, local road name and some village features and size I eventually 'gotcha ' . I'm certainly not going to post up the location for all to see as that would be improper , but I will admit that @New Haven Neil and @The Q have been treated to same degree of interest . 😎 6 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted November 13, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 13, 2023 ' afternoon all from red dragon land. Ooohh! The sun has popped its head out and the terrace has dried out. Strong winds first thing this morning, and dark, so I had a (little) bit of a lie in. Toot on the flute this morning to tidy up a new twiddly bit. Seems to be working - fingering played in reverse progression is interesting. Getting it smooth is not as easy as it looks, though. <<I'll get there.>> Some more sorting of stuff in the pipeline ahead of bin collection day, tomorrow, though I want to get a fruit crumble made as well, then I can do a chicken pie as well - Trying to keep oven (electricity) use down - so it is two for one, these days. Clear up the lunch things and a mugadecaf to begin with. Take care. Be good. Hope the weather is not too bad. Polly 23

Yes indeed, that's nearly half of the maximum for salt for an adult which I think is 6g. It'll be my only intake of those today, except a smidgen of olive oil in my ratatouille for dinner, which is just veg and some butter beans. Popular Post Flanged Wheel
Probably time to leave Fiji… Good job we have a flight to Christchurch in five hours time. Thoughts and prayers with the people here though - schools and workplaces already closing as Category 2 Cyclone Mal bears down on the archipelago. In case people think that global travelling is all glamour, we spent yesterday scrubbing our camping and hiking gear. New Zealand has, understandably, strict bio security rules and we need our tent if we are to spend the next three weeks camping around South Island. We were rewarded by getting to spend the evening celebrating Diwali with our hosts (about a third of the Fijian population have Indian heritage) eating amazing food and watching cheap Chinese fireworks explode in exciting ways. I think the family’s 83 year old matriarch was ready to adopt our children by the end of the evening. I would definitely recommend Fiji, especially if you can spend time away from the resorts. The people are so friendly and welcoming - right up there with population of El Salvador as the nicest and kindest nation of the trip so far. 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted November 13, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 13, 2023 Afternoon Awl, It's been snowing in the muddling room, craft knife, foam, you know the routine. Now all loaded down with weights. It's also been snowing in the back garden.. SWMBO has been defrosting one of the freezers. About 10:00 the wind hit, shortly followed by heavy rain for an hour, then the switch was turned. Suddenly bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky, still blowing a hooley now. Then Ben took me for a walk, we'd only gone a couple of hundred yards down the mud lane when 3 bird scarers went off, and Ben wanted home... Then onto the next board of the pair, and some excavation, more snow produced. It's one thing I've noticed with prepared food, that have claims to be healthy, something bad is replaced by something also bad, but not mentioned unless you study the information. 19
iL Dottore
@Tim Dubya needs to eat Southern Italian: loads of wonderful dishes which do not involve meat in any way, shape or form (and if he doesn't eat fish, there's plenty of purely vegetable dishes). Many Indian and Japanese dishes do not contain meat and nearly all Indian and Japanese dishes are healthy. Honestly? I'd take a 冷やしつけそばと野菜天ぷら (cold soba noodles with a dipping sauce and vegetable tempura) over a nut cutlet or a vegan sausage any day. Once you've made your dipping sauce (not very hard) and if you substitute Japanese pickles (homemade in my case) for the tempura, you have a quick and nutritious meal. I lived on 冷やしつけそばと野菜天ぷら during the hot weather this summer. Edited November 13, 2023 by iL Dottore Added info about the noodles 11 1

Sadly, too true. If you look at the labels of many low-fat prepared foods you'll see that fat has been replaced by a lot of salt and sugar. Often in forms that aren't readily recognisable as salt or sugar. 4 8 1

Warning", a harbinger of "Pt. Danger". Point Danger is on the border between Queensland and NSW. The Federal government built a modern lighthouse there in 1971 with the border inlaid in the base. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 13, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 13, 2023 I stayed at home all morning and ended up sitting quietly reading a novel until it was time to get some lunch, just cold ham and a simple salad - plus a packet of p;lain crisps as a treat. The ironing was done and the second load dried, then I went to Homebase and bought a new window cleaner for the greenhouse and some brass screws. That was followed by a quick look round Lidl to get a few bits and pieces including cherry schnapps and calvados. Back home I got the bin ready to go out and found a few more things to put in it. Next it will be the usual sandwich and a pot of yoghurt for tea followed by more reading and a bit of TV, probably just two of the quizzes. I try to, as I mentioned earlier tonight's dinner will be a ratatouille (onions, peppers, courgette, aubergine, tomatoes and a tin of butter beans). I love Chinese and Indian food and always make these from scratch with either lentils, tofu or chick peas as the protein source and a mix from the kitchen drawer of spice. Friday night is my fake meat night with either Heck chipolatas or a veggie burger in a flatbread with salad (and washed down with some fermented apple juice). I did it primarily for the animals, starting 37 years ago, and not for health reasons, although that is my focus these days. Popular Post Ian Abel
Morning <yawn> VERY busy and tiring weekend, though a lot of it was fun-centric. Friday evening, we joined about 50,000 folks for the Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks concert - really TWO concerts, with Stevie Nicks kicking off the first set of an hour-and-a-half, stage reconfigure and then Billy Joel for another hour-and-a-half plus! Didn't make it home/to bed until past midnight!! Both performers were excellent, only marred by the DREADFUL acoustics in the Vikings stadium. A subject well discussed and reported by critics and performers! It's a large echo chamber and we'd have rather seen them separately in one of the better venues in town. Traffic in and out was berserk - even WITH a pre-paid parking spot, and staggering around with 50,000 others leaving at the same time was pure folly 😮 wouldn't have missed it though as it's probably the last opportunity to see either without travelling very long distances, and paying much higher prices. Saturday we "tried" to recover some, though we had to meet a couple of workers at the rental property, THEN off to town for the second show of the weekend - Trevor Noah. He was excellent and a most enjoyable routine/set. The BEST part was it being in a smaller theatre venue so the crowd was manageable. Sunday, another recovery day, some outdoor cleanup as the weather was good, and Jemma returned from Madrid and joined us for dinner picking up Whitney in the process. So here we are, Monday and minor panic at the client as they - ONCE AGAIN - are pressed to get their financials out but forgot to have me add some new account numbers to a report. Done and dusted now <phew> Very unusual/unseasonal weather here at present, nice for a change, 5c and sunny first thing, 11c the expected high heading for 16-18c through Thursday. Tally ho.
Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from the Boring Borough where the wind has picked up in the last hour or so (and nothing as far as I know with an influx of vegetarians). I am not sure I agree with ID's comments that all Indian meals are healthy. It may be genetic but there does seem an awful lot of early heart attacks and heart conditions among certain populations. An ex-colleague from the Parsee community has recently had a double or triple heart by-pass in his 40s and he seemed to regard it as fairly common for his folk. But to be fair, I don't think Parsee cuisine is so big on vegetarian meals. My weekly lunch treat is a thali from a stall on Borough Market. The price has gone up over the last year or two so could no longer be regarded as a bargain but it is on the level with a couple of sarnis from Pret and much nicer - three dishes and some rice. Reading of Tony's adventures reminds me of a holiday that we had in the area (within sight of Malham) years ago when Younger Lurker was around 9 months old. It was August but the weather was not that warm, and we took refuge in the Wednesleydale Cheese Shop cafe, replete with lots of Wallace and Gromit imagery. I think it got uo to about 13 degrees that day! 18 3

Diabetic levels are not just due to obesity but include genetics, life style and the type of food you eat. Remove carbs and alcohol and reduce sugar levels helps keep it at bay.. Some areas of the world suffer badly with Type 2 diabetes. Some of my "pakistani -west yorkshire" cricket mates suffer from type 2 diabetes. They are not obese but eat some interesting foods... including some seriously sugary Puddings... Baz 10 2 2 5
