RMweb Gold BoD Posted November 9, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2023 (edited) Ah well, travelling home from distant climes, well Yorkshire anyway, met up with friends for brunch and got talking as you do. Arrived home later than expected but an enjoyable time was had. Managed to drive on the correct side of the road all the way up the A19. Apparently, south of the Tees flyover they drive on the same side of the road as us. Edited November 9, 2023 by BoD 11 1

If I’m going that way I will always go up Weardale and over Hartside - what a shame the cafe burnt down!!! It takes longer but is a much more relaxing and enjoyable drive. 12 1

Unfiltered beers and ales are quite popular, I am led to understand. But you're quite right - once upon a time a beer looking like that would be undrinkable and sent back. But that IPA was anything but! Fruity and floral it was served chilled and was very, very drinkable indeed! 11 1 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted November 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 9, 2023 (edited) ' evening all. Tooth fixed - well, I hope so. I was told, today, that the filling that came out after the last fix-up job two weeks ago, was only temporary and because I was given another "emergency" appointment, today, he could only give me another temporary but stronger fix-up job. If this one decides to falter, I have to ask for a longer appointment! <<hummmm>> To make things worse, the instrument, which he used to keep flesh away from the tooth being fixed, was the cause of some trouble I had this afternoon. A short while ago, I discovered it seems to have caused a blister and the roughness of the tooth is rubbing against it <<Pah!>> as @Barry O would say. I just hope I didn't look too glum when I attended my other engagement with a few friends. A quick toot on the flute before the day passes. Yesterday, I began the last set of twiddly bits in the first half of the new song, so more work ahead of me before I even think about tackling the next half of the song - 7 lines of it! So far, I have done 6, so feeling hopeful. It is so far beyond what I have ever tried to do before on any size/type of flute, and I never got much more than the odd 3-note trill when I played the piano. Do I find it easy, then? No! Pollywollydoodle Just been told Big names Li'l tr***s is on at 9pm :D Ah! It's the man who rekindled my dream of having a "tr**n set"!!!! ;) Edited November 9, 2023 by southern42 1

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 9, 2023 Evening all from Estuary-Land. The SEERS meeting went well tonight and my TT went running around the test track chuffing away, I might be able to post a film later as one of the members was filming it.
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 10, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 10, 2023 Good evening everyone Well the task of marking the sky line position wasn’t quite as easy as I’d hoped it would be, due to initially being unable to get my laser level to work properly. I eventually found that I needed to get the tripod dead level first. Once that had been achieved it went very well afterwards. 2 lines have been marked around the entire room, the first is the baseboard height, the second is the position of the horizon. Charlie turned up after dinner and we both headed down to the workshop and had a very pleasant time in there.

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted November 10, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 10, 2023 Ey up! Long meeting last night... one or two questions but mostly we'll received. Couldn't do a power point..projector was fitted .. cables weren't! Driving back up the M1. Lanes closed off.. no workforce in the road (which the control centre had set the signs to say.. perhaps if the road repairers/builders/bodgers had contracts which meant they have to refund motorway users when they have no one working would bring an end to this bad practice. Interesting discussion yesterday with some like minded friends on line. Excellent! One for @PupCam.. latest "in" phrase in the cricketing hierarchy " you must give FEED FORWARD to your observed umpires" .. erm nope it can lead to instability....but they are not control engineers.. As for today.. Beast needs to be prepared for another trip to the North East.. to the land of the Prince Bishops (and @BoDand @Two_sugars).. aka my home village for a school reunion at the Horden Comrades Club. Plate pies must be collected from the caterers (as well as various other sandwiches and sweet items). Apparently I am Master of Ceremonies and I am in charge of pens and sticky labels for people to use as name boards.. I shall ghead up the road about lunch time.. and might chance a visit to a chippy on the Headland in Hartlepool. Stay safe! Baz 11 1
RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted November 10, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 10, 2023 I've never had an issue with LHD cars and drive them quite regularly. What is much more challenging is knowing the rules of the road, not just the actual rules/highway code but the customs and conventions of driving and manners. For example, does a headlight flash mean please make the turn or emerge, I'm giving you the space, or does it mean out of the way, it's my right of way and I'm coming through, or is it a simple hello? (I'm aware of the highway code and that you should never just assume or proceed on them but in reality in most countries there does seem to be a convention for their use to help things move). SE Asia is largely RHD (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam) but I find driving in Indonesia and Malaysia more stressful than many LHD countries as it's basically anarchy on wheels and anything can happen. 14

Quite aside from the normal propaganda battle which is part of any war the Israeli government has issues of it's own which will come to the fore at some point as to how a country with the most vaunted intelligence services in the world and one of the most highly regarded militaries in the world was caught which it's pants down after a monumental intelligence failure and floundered for several hours before the army started to get things under control. As such there are reasons why they might want to divert blame. 2 10
