Oh, to hull with it, yes I will post this.

 

Had an afternoon appointment today at the HQ of the local diabetes care setup in Moulescombe - turned out it was only to check my two hooves [1]. Checked the website, found I could park at the leisure centre. What the map doesn't show is that  it's a steep uphill from the car park. Just about made it, but my set ankle was at its limits and I knew I wouldn't be able to get down without falling. Fortunately, the nurse was helpful - future appointments will be at my GP's (very local), and she offered to walk me back to the car park (makes me feel like Private Pike). I suggested the fire escape at the rear would be easier, if allowed. After a few minutes delay she led me through the staff area and down the fire escape.

 

That counts as a result, and if I get a follow-up asking me to rate the experience I'll be full of praise for the fire escape (and the nurse). Now back to alternately banging my head with texlive, with inline html markup, and with fontconfig.

Today we had a trip to the tip. (two trips, actually)

SWMBO declared that the plastic chairs on the deck were at the end of their lives due to discolouration and moss. I managed to get a par at a time in the car. The tip has been slightly reorganized. We were weighed, drove to the bin, and chucked it in. Going out, we were pleasantly surprised that the charge was $0.00, not the $10 minimum.  "Recycling" is free.

On one of the trips we were stopped by the local railway.

Rest of the day cancelled for rain.

Busy day planned. Sort out presentation for tonight, sort out list of bits for unmentionables I need, pack bag, drive to the fair County Palatine. Hopefully by unmentionables,  xheck in to hotel at Pity Me,find somewhere to have tea, go to Benwell Hill CC, attend meeting, back to hotel..... easy...well fingers are crossed.

 

I will wave to @BoD and @Two_sugars en route.

 

In other news.. some serious drivelling is expected to take place later this week. Always good!

 

I did notice that I had had another appointment  letter (follow up ECG/ultrasound) for the same date and time as the one I can't attend (I shall be at the NEC at the time. Rang up.. yes it's a software glitch.. you are back on the "list" for a new date. Frabjoy!

Good moaning g from a Charente where it isn't raining.  I'm certain that things may well change.  I went to my French class yesterday and as I pulled up outside, 12 miles away a What's App told me it was cancelled.  Never mind I went in and had a coffee and good natter.  Then back home through three flooded bits of road.  At one of them a digger was about to start clearing a blocked culvert.  Then I wrote a book review.  Good in parts but several factual errors.  Some time in the shed in the evening. 

 

This morning we have our neighbours funeral to attend at the cemetery.  No church service.  We hope that the rain holds off.  Then shopping in the afternoon.

Morning, from a damp, breezy 9c rock, where orders for the day appear to revolve around shopping then cooking.  

 

Still a little tatty around the edges but at least I feel a bit better, if still coughing occasionally.  Might actually get some mudelling done, which would be nice.  A walk first though, before the trial by Co-op.

Good morning all,

The sky looks fairly clear and I can see something bright reflecting in the widows opposite.  A dry bright sunny day is forecast with the chance of some isolated showers later.   6°C  rising to 12°C.

A walk to Asda is needed to get one or two odds and ends and it has been suggested we visit the local garden centre as we have a multitude of gift vouchers to use and they sell all sorts of other stuff for the home and garden apart from plants. 

After that, if I survive the experience,  I will carry with my fencing job in The Shed.  I only got a little bit done yesterday so will continue with what I've got but I still need to get some more.   Lots of other bits and pieces needed as well so I ought to get a bit more organised and make a list.  (instead of keeping it all in my head and winging it).  I had a bit of a mishap as I caught the end of a rail when I lowered the entry flap and bent it up.   A considerable number of words that are not allowed on here were uttered.  It took me about an hour to repair the damage with the aid of a few more choice words, some Evostick to glue the sleepers back down and solder to re-attach the rail to the screw underneath.   All tested and it works fine but a bit more ballasting now needed in that area.  Fingers crossed that it stays attached.  I think I'll go back to leaving the flap fixed and crawling under in future.

As far as the roofing job goes James tells me that the job he's on should finish Thursday so he may be able to come on Friday.  Fingers crossed again for the weather behaving.

I'm up, had breakfast, tidied a few things and am waiting for the groceries to come, minus 1 item which is not urgent and 2 subs which are just variations on what I'd ordered so it should all be OK.

 

After that I have a few bulbs to plant.  Then I'm not sure, it depends whether the sun puts in an appearance in which case I might go and take photos somewhere.  If it stays cloudy I'll just have a local walk and then find something to do at home.

 

For once there is nothing on the to do list which needs to be done today.

I may well be wrong, I am often told that I am; but wasn't the oil in Old oil paints Ali natural ones such as linseed.

I think it's more to do with the donors/sponsorship of the gallery being an oil company however given today's attitude it could be that they wanted there '15 minutes of fame' as well.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Again no interruptions from bladder control last night and six hours solid sleep. Not a lot to do today, I will be finishing off a few bits in the garden this afternoon and hopefully the builder will be coming back to complete the restoration of the back garden soon.

4.5 hours sleep, looóooooooooong awake,  1.5 hours sleep not enough.

 

Ben the I want out Collie arrived too early, I told him that and he went back to bed.

When we went out it was to blue skies, a heavy dew and very light winds.

 

Comments about black pudding meant that it was included with breakfast today. Good it was.

 

Shortly I'll phone the garage to find out the state of play on the Landrover.

If it's ready then there will be a trip there, if not it's more driveway digging, .

What will happen is a mow of the jungle. Mower at highest level.

 

Gadget didn't want to play, the bits have come in to do the repairs. But it's years since I did 1/2mm spaced pin repairs.. (power connector)

 

 

More digging has taken place, two wheelbarrow loads, darn chilly out there, the drive way walls are funnelling the wind. Forepaws are frozed.

Landrover is awaiting parts due in today.

 

Muggacoffee to warm up.

 

Then get the mower out , and find some work use gloves.

Rough translation, it's actually a 1XL, but we'll flog it as a 3XL slim fit to make more money by using less cloth.

We slept in this morning, having arisen about an hour ago. When I got up it was raining, the sun is now shining and the sky is blue! The first job of the day is to re-hang the living room curtains, so that’ll be the morning gone. After that, I’ll probably stay inside and continue with the painting of the cellar, the bulb planting can wait.

I took myself off out almost to the Big City this morning, for a change pf scenery and to buy a specific product, well two actually, from the Big Shop.  They had neither.  Still, a nice sunny drive through the countryside, the local landowners are cutting hedgerows so the place looks nice and tidy - it is compulsory here to do so. Some get cut twice a year, once after bird nesting season and once in winter.  It is really noticeable to us how unkempt country roads are now in the UK.

Well we have been to the funeral, an open air one in the cemetery.  About 220 people there which isn't bad for a village of 60.  Pierre, known as Pierot was a lovely person with an infectious sense of humour.  After the eulogies we did, as is the custom, file past the coffin and put a rose petal on it.  Beth and I nearly had a fit of giggles.  As we got to the coffin the basket of petals was empty.  The funeral director just scooped a handful from the pile on the coffin   As we walked back we saw that the Salle de fete was open so asked if anyone was welcome.  Pierre's son told us to go in and we were warmly welcomed by the family as we are now Jannine's nearest neighbours.  We were the only English there.

Severe CBA syndrome today, things I could be doing, but won't, nothing important, I'm currently on my 11th course of anti biotics, had a permanent infection since the laser slashing of my prostate, no idea if this the reason for the lethargy. I am due, finally, back at Urology later in the month for tests.
