RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2023 (edited) It's 6.30p.m. The postman has just delivered my post. I think it is good service, I assume it must have been late coming to the local sorting office. Edit - It really was the postman, his van is parked just along the road. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2023 A bit of a rough afternoon with the cough that had abated - it was just hiding. I'm with @polybear about the Beatles song, it was rubbish. I did have a little scout around in beamland, well trussland (no not that one) this afternoon looking for some stock boxes, and found a box of HO locos I had forgotten about, from a house/layout clearance we helped with a few years ago. They would have been just the job....when I modelled in HO. Pah. Several Kato and Atlas undecorated Alco locos, so will probably sell them as the are still pretty good models with excellent mechanisms, especially the Kato drives. It was a box of memories as there were a few other things in it I hadn't seen for many a year, what I think may be a Cary Alco S1 which appears to be cast from depleted uranium it is so heavy! 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2023 Back home now after a day out trainspotting in Bordeaux. The drive to the station in Ruffec was interesting. I stopped at one lot of foliage on the road and started to clear it to one side. Another guy came up behind me and helped. We worked together to clear the next lot 100 metres forther on. Half a mile later we stopped again. This time it was a complete tree with root ball. We agreed it was too big for us to drag it off. Fortunately he said he was going to get a mate with a tractor to come and sort it. Happy it was by a lay by so we could get round it. Several trains were cancelled but mine all ran reasonably to timand I had a good day. An empty stock train was checking the southbound line On the way home the foliage seen earlier is now all at the side of the road. I hope that everyone is safe. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 2, 2023 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I haven't been out today but there's no sign of any damage in the garden and the new wheelie bin is still standing upright in the front of the house. It's all change on the rubbish collection around here at the end of the month. Instead of using black plastic sacks for the rubbish we're getting a proper wheelie bin that will be emptied fortnightly. Two reusable sacks, a blue one for paper and cardboard and a white one for plastics and metal cans and foil. The garden waste, food waste and glass bottle collections will remain the same.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2023 We have been getting ready for our trip to Yorkshire. I think Aditi thinks we need to dress for the Arctic whereas I think we need waterproof coats. Most of our recent holidays have been to warmer climates so much sorting out was required. With stuff going in and out of wardrobes Imwas certainly having hanger management issues. The boot on the Evoque isn’t huge but we have managed with our luggage making use of the rear seats. However the seats will be occupied by MiL and our nephew on the first stage of the journey to Kettering. Something will have to be left! 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post petethemole Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2023 This morning I went down the garden to check the temporary sheet was still over the leaky bit of the garden building roof after last night's wind and rain. Behind it I found a mobile phone that had been thrown over the fence. It had an "I Have Autism" card with it with a a contact number. Mrs mole rang it and spoke to the owner's sister; later the owner came round to collect it. She lives locally and they have met before, so they had a cup of tea and a chat. Apparently she'd left the phone at a neighbour's flat and said neighbour has a 'friend' with a reputation for nicking stuff. Such is life down at "the flats". 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 2, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2023 (edited) Good evening everyone When I got to the tip this morning, it was almost empty, so I had no trouble parking up and disposing of the garden waste and wood offcuts that I wanted to get rid of. Once back home I made myself a muggertea and then collected my tools and the plants and bulbs and made a start. Once again, the weather this morning was very kind to me and the rain stayed away whilst I was replanting the bulbs and geraniums that I dug up yesterday. I’d only been inside about 30 minutes when it started to rain! After dinner Charlie called round, this is the first time he’s been here for over 2 weeks and we had a very enjoyable afternoon in the workshop, where we both made a bit of progress on our little projects. Thankfully we seemed to have escaped the storm, although whilst Charlie and I were in the workshop it didn’t half chuckitdarn, we were certainly glad we were inside and not outside! RMweb Premium polybear Posted November 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 3, 2023 Bear here...... Those gits in Wee Wee Control thought it a good wheeze to hit the button at 0450, meaning no more snooze for this Bear.... Today will see some serious hagglin' with AA Insurance - if they don't play then Bear is offski, as well as a good chance I'll be ditching a certain Credit Card (unless they see sense) and applying for a different one instead. Apart from that it'll be muddlin' related activities. Yippee. ION...... British Justice??
