For some reason I now come with a red and white exclamation mark, triangular warning sign thingy…..not sure why this has appeared, don’t think that I am anymore of a risk to anyone today, than I was yesterday. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Can any of you see the warning sign at your end? Bit puzzled as I don’t think that I have upset anyone. …….oh no wait….I recently called out the BBC for using the word ‘FAT’ when describing bears and their natural desire to eat more and thus put on extra bulk, prior to their prolonged winter kip. But apart from that I don’t think that I have upset anyone. Have a great day all ATB Grizz I seem to remember from another thread on this forum, it means a message sent via or from the forum to your email account has bounced.. 1 19

There's an abbreviated TLA of the FLA, both forms are used extensively in the world of engineering. That is: Read The Manual Your homework is to work out what the fourth letter stands for in the full version. There are at least two acceptable words, one is, shall we say less Anglo Saxon than the other. ION Some garage re-arrangement has been conducted to place the tumble drier next to the fridge/freezer. A strange thing to do I hear you cry but no, there is logic to my madness. I've recounted previously how the fridge/freezer fails to function when it is cold. We use the tumble drier a lot when its cold, so it's waste heat can keep the fridge/freezer warm (hopefully allowing it to keep functioning) rather than trying to warm up the garage door. Time will tell if the idea is successful. We are shortly to set of on a walk of the hills of Puppershire. Well, it's a nice day for it. RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted October 9, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 9, 2023 It is a pleasant day here. We have to post a parcel so we will have a short stroll round the park afterwards. It isn’t exactly hilly there as it has another role as sacrificial flood plain. Hence why it isn’t a park, with pretty flowerbeds. I don’t think it will be even damp today though. Fruit picking isn't so bad in comparison - they could have been told to learn to spell B.L.U.E A.S.B.E.S.T.O.S. then sent off to Wittenoom like other migrants were. As a young Cub a Certain Bear used to help the local Milkie at the weekends - he had a phrase which went as follows: "He can go **** himself with the rough end of a pineapple" I often wonder just which is the rough end, as neither seem in any way attractive to this Bear,

RMweb Premium Dave Hunt Posted October 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 9, 2023 I’ve now arrived in Spain - well, actually I have been in Spain for some time but have only just got through the mile long queue at passport control thanks to Brexit - and on leaving the arrival area saw something which I think was mentioned here a while ago, I.e., a Japanese gravel garden, or something similar anyway. Shame about the necessity for signs about what not to do there. Dave

Popular Post tigerburnie
I received an email at work asking for m y involvement in a topic, it was full of abbreviations and acronyms, so I ignored, the following day the person came to see me to ask why I hadn't responded. My reply was that it was illegible and if he wanted to send it again in a language I understood, then I might be able to comment, he got the message and I got a new email in English. 16 6

Popular Post Coombe Barton
When I get things with stuff I don't understand I ask that academic standards are used. In summary, from a good practice document: Introduce every acronym before using it in the text. The first time you use the term, put the acronym in parentheses after the full term. Thereafter, you can stick to using the acronym. Do not introduce an acronym unless you will use it a minimum of three or four times. If it only appears once or twice, write out the full term. That seems to shut a lot of people up. 17 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post jjb1970 Posted October 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 9, 2023 I fear this may be a rant, something I'm not given to too often (Mrs JJB looks after the ranting). As I'm sure is normal for many others, Teams and Zoom is now a normal part of work, and working in an international industry like shipping it is if anything used even more as it allows connectivity across the globe, which is good. However Europe is making me more and more cross. There's a bit of an unwritten convention for people in Asia and the US to take turns with the inconvenience and an awareness of time difference. Say what you will about the US but I find that maybe because people in the US know how infuriating it is they consider time zones when requesting meetings. However, many people in Europe (no offence to anyone) expect that all meetings will be in European normal office hours. That's not in itself a problem if it is only a call with Asia or the US as you can manage the time for both people. And people in Asia and the US are grown up enough to appreciate that if you need Asia, Europe and the US on a call then there's not much you can do about time zones. However, more and more I notice people in Brussels especially scheduling calls for the end of their day which means late night for people in East Asia and getting stroppy if requested to change because it inconveniences their schedule. At the risk of sounding cynical they know that people in Japan will get up at any time if necessary, with Korean's not being far off and Chinese expected to work as required so they get away with it. I've had five requests for meetings this week to myself and people in Japan or China to join calls at the end of the business day in Brussels, Paris or London, including Friday. Being English (and also in Singapore, they're very different to Japan and have no problem saying no) I'm the one who has pushed back and suggested they find a slot at a reasonable time and have been met with a few harrumphs at the inconvenience it causes them to avoid someone in Tokyo having to join a call at 11PM on a Friday night. The really bonkers thing is four of five are primarily for their benefit and they are seeking support from Asia. I'll offer some free advice, if you're trying to keep people sweet to get a favour don't annoy them by refusing to show any consideration to time scheduling. Rant off. Sorry. 1 4
