This will also be Dr. SWMBO’s Monday and Friday work-from-home office and has the bonus of facing the sunsets with a view of the sea. Whether it’s the Celtic Sea, Bristol Channel or Atlantic Ocean is debatable. The rest of the cottage looks much more like our home than it did 24 hours ago with far fewer stacked boxes and many more things in place. The IKEA 3-door wardrobe which was too big to even come in through the front door and which was therefore dismantled out on the footpath was taken upstairs piece by piece and has been rebuilt. Although not without invoking some sort of Old Norse curse! Progress is being made. I had one of those IKEA wardrobes. The only way it could be assembled when I moved was by cutting the top three inches off. Other than that it was fine. 2 1

I don't no what type of potato Tess Coes use for their chips but they come with the skins intact and taste great. They're not oily either, I imagine they are only dipped into the hot oil. Only problem is you have to be careful cooking them in an air fryer as you can easily dry them out. King Edward's are the ones. 10 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted October 5, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 5, 2023 Good evening everyone Todays wet weather has meant that I spent another day in the cellar, but by the end of the day, a little more progress has been made. The 2 large shelves have now had 3 coats of varnish, the next step will be to turn them over and start the underside. I also retrieved my wall paper tools, as I’m planning to put lining paper on the cellar walls, ready for painting. The plan is to apply the paper horizontally, to help hide the paper joints. In between coats of varnish, I used the new pull out shelf that I fitted to the underside of the computer desk, it works very well so I’m really pleased with it, it’s a lot more comfortable now.

The holiday used to be when all the families took to the fields to lift the crop … My cousins lived in Ayrshire, so there was a lot of potatoes to be lifted each year. The ‘howkers’ in their area stayed in the buildings of a former POW camp. (Incidentally, that camp had been the scene of the largest mass escape of PoWs in Britain during the war.) 7 11

Missing from the index is an entry for "Beeps, Assorted." We had a new one today. Dayle was backing gently out of the driveway when the brakes went on. There was a car going down the other side of the street. 1 3

I presume you are being somewhat facetious. Nobody is shaming the bears - it’s almost admiring. They have to put on all that fat to ensure that they have the stored energy to get them through their winter hibernation. Those that put on the most fat are the best prepared to last the winter in good shape - yes, it’s survival of the fattest. 15

Bear sometimes paints/varnishes both sides in one go - do the underside, then support it on the pointy ends of four drawing pins so the top can be done; it also minimises any risk of a piece of wood warping due to only being treated on one side. 12 9
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted October 6, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 6, 2023 Nicola is my favourite potato, if I can get it. It's got one of the lowest GIs of any spud. I did spud picking back in the late 1960s, for a school boy it was a good amount of money, as you got paid by what was picked, so you got the same or could get more than the adults . Mooring Awl, 5 hours sleep with just a couple of wake up and turn overs, I'll try for more shortly. Ben's still snoring Still brain on about the build of the unmentionable , going round the reinforcement loop with added thoughts of locking the fold up sections together. Time try to join Ben in snoring. 19

RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted October 6, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 6, 2023 Bear here.... Today? 04.16......Bluddy, Bluddy No.1's....🤬 There was a fair chance that I could've found zeddyland again - but quite often by the time I've been for a "1" the bonce has fired up (often with total dross) and then I'm stuffed. So today I figured "Oh buggerritt" and decided an early start would be useful as I've danglin' to do. Once that's done then Bear can play in the muddlin' room for the rest of the day - though it's quite possible that a second danglin' session could happen later. RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted October 6, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 6, 2023 Good moaning from the dark Charente. Covid boosters yesterday then shopping in Niort followed by Beth's diabetic eye test. The after some shed time, which went well, and a bit of gogglebox time., it was bedtime. However my usual slumbers did not come easy as I felt cold an shivery and ended up visiting the smallest room at regular intervals. I can only think that it was my immune system being rearranged as I feel fine though tired now. Off trainspotting this afternoon yippee. After over half an hour looking for a parking spot, we gave up and went back to the highway to drive on. I think you may have driven north on Highway 97 out of Prince George. Highway 16 runs east-west from Prince George. Did you see any trains on the CN (ex-BC Rail) lines north of PG? Few of them, but the ones that there are are big. (Edit - I’ve just realized there is less of the ex-BCR still in service than there was when I was there,) You’re absolutely right that the obvious way from Prince George to Alaska is up Highway 97. After all it does head north… But, following the road less travelled, we went west along Highway 16 to Stewart and then up to rejoin the Alaska highway just east of Whitehorse. And we were very glad we did… I think Banff (and the surrounding trailheads) have terrible parking issues in the peak summer months. As we were there in later September, we had no problems with parking (although it was still busy) and got to enjoy the autumn colours. So my aesthetic and anti-social leanings were both fulfilled. Now made it to Alaska where it is suitable snowy. Tomorrow is switch hire car day… the Toyota Corolla might have done sterling service in getting us here from San Diego but it’s out of its league here! Noting the comments on cruise controls and speed limiters, this car was the first time I had driven with lane assist (basically steering for you) and automatic braking. Those features made the last six weeks considerably easier. 22
RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted October 6, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 6, 2023 Moaning awl. Mostly overcast with traces of sunlight. Shift starts in about an hour, so I'll be on my way in a few. Have you ever regretted selling models? I certainly have, but I've now managed to source another example of a full train I've previously owned. Stay tuned! Later... 4

Are you perhaps thinking about Red Dwarf? It was definitely my last year at Kollege as we had a TV in the shared flat then, didn't have one prior to that so winter '79 best guess. Red Dwarf didn't start until '88. It was a washer and a fridge that talked to each other when their human wasn't there. Morning wurld, miserable night for some reason, really not good at all. As it is 16c but raining outside the bike cub will be a car club brunch run. Pah. Not sure what else will come to pass but it might involve inside eyelid inspection later. I very seldom nap in the day but today may be the exception. 2 1 2

More information at https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/images/pia25709-a-bear-on-mars That bear has a paw in so many (ahem) “revenue generating” (ahem) activities that he probably gets exhausted just from counting his dosh. Captain Cynical has uncovered more evidence of The Bear’s many “lucrative-but-we-don’t-talk-about-that” extracurricular off-the-books activities: it’s interesting to note that for a supposedly teetotal bear, how much of his promo work involves alcohol. Mind you, one does wonder at why (or who) would need or want a life-sized inflatable Polybear.
