RMweb Gold Hroth Posted September 28, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 28, 2023 According to the BBC news, an NT spokesperson hopes that the stump will "coppice", but it won't ever be the same. What they should do is use the wood from the felled trunk to make things to sell in NT shops; egg cups, light pulls, fruit bowels, whatever, as commemorative bits and bobs! 12 2

RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted September 28, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 28, 2023 (edited) We took MiL to Chase Farm hospital for her audiology appointment this afternoon. She was ready when we arrived, which was good but we didn’t need to leave, for nearly 2 hours. We had planned to have lunch first! After we had our lunch I asked for garage remote so I could bring my car into the underground car park. MiL was reluctant to hand it over and said she kept it in her bag. I wanted to get her wheelchair into the catmint he building rather than wheeling it down the road to where I had parked. I discovered that an Evoque boot doesn’t have much space left after a folding wheelchair goes in. All went well until we arrived at the patient drop off point. It was quite busy but while I was moving, MiL undid her seat belt, setting off the car warning noise, and was reaching for the door handle. I think my pulse rate and blood pressure meds were fully tested. I have had words with MiL in the past about opening the door before I have stopped but she hasn’t done it for years. I have now looked how to set the childproof lock on my car and suggested to SiL, Emma who is taking MiL out on Saturday should do the same on her car. Unfortunately MiL is now at the stage where she resents anyone helping her but then goes and does dangerous things. It was a fine tree, appreciated by thousands, the country needs more trees (I believe) and it was a wilful act of vandalism. ION We spent the morning severely pruning the out-of-hand and rampant Wisteria (it's OK, it's non-native ....) that has invaded a couple of nearby conifers (probably not native) followed by trip to the Tidy Tip with the cuttings. When the pruning is complete it should enable me to repair the pergola that is collapsing under the weight of the thing. I think the Wisteria might look a bit bald for a year or two! Oh well. This afternoon I have wrestled with the recalcitrant Yamaha brake hose. It seemed that the lead-in to the female M10 x 1 mm thread in the end fitting was slightly damaged although I'm not quite sure how or when this was/could have been done. I don't think it was me but who knows? Fortunately I have an M10 x 1 mm tap so the thread was restored. The brake pipe and hose were installed, brake fluid introduced into the reservoir and the brake system was bleed. Hooray! I appear to have a front brake that now appears progressive and actually works. A test run will be conducted in the morning subject to suitable weather after which hopefully a big tick may be awarded. TTFN

Dave I remember a paraglider pilot out west for the world paragliding championships a few years ago was sucked into a rising cumulonimbus cloud and rose to 33,000ft. She actually survived the lack of oxygen, hailstones and extreme cold. A Chinese guy at the same event was sucked up too and was killed by a lightning strike. Here it is! If he's a local then I very much suspect he won't be for much longer as they'll make his life hell. Good. 1 hour ago, PupCam said: Hooray! RMweb Premium polybear Posted September 28, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 28, 2023 Bear here.... Washing done. Tick. And the rest of the day? Sanding/prepping the Conservatory French Doors, Frame and Window Ledges, followed by painting them (not the ledges - I'd had enough). I started around 8am and finished at.....5pm, with a din dins break in the middle. Muddlin' achieved today? Nil/Zilch/Diddly Squat. Poo. It looks like tomorrow will be a rather sunny day - and as the paint I'm using gets a bit temperamental when that happens it looks like any thoughts of doing the second coat are long gone. Disappointed? Er, nottalot. Bear Gone.

Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Quite a busy day. Start3d off at work to show an electrician sure work we require a quote for and hopefully if the quote is good a job can be ticked off the list of things to do. Got home just as SWMBO was heading for the dentist so dog sat Hovis while doing some bookwork and waiting for the new gas and electric meters to be installed. After that and lunch a quick walk to the garden centre for coffee and cake, lemon drizzle (GF) to be precise. With it being GF @polybear wouldn’t have liked it so no need to fret. Got home and thought I’d better make a start on this year’s CPD. The plan was for me to relinquish my position at work that required me to remain on the register but as the financial figures for this year are so bad I think it would be prudent to keep on the register. Not sure what’s happening tomorrow but SWMBO will be visiting her Aunt in the afternoon so that leaves me free. Goodnight Robert 5
