RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted September 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 21, 2023 Bear here..... Brace yourselves......sitting down would be A Very Good Idea, with no Hot Drinks/Knives/Circular Saws etc. nearby..... Now those paying attention may recall Bear's posts over the last couple of days, namely: Tuesday: "One down, two to go ☹️" - followed by: Wednesday: "One down, one to go 😢" - and today it's: Thursday: "One down, none to go 😭" So what does all this mean? Well as of today Bear's Front-Line Ready Use Cake Locker looks like this: 😱 So how can this be? Has Big H finally managed to beat Bear's Anti-Hippo Defences? Nottachance. So here goes...... Bear has set himself a little humongous challenge..... Bear's goin' Cold Turkey...... No Cake for a Month** - so that'll be 22nd October if my sumz are correct. Why? Just for the hell of it, really - and to see if I lose any weight as a result, though the NHS reckons my BMI is "in the Green", albeit towards the upper boundary (I'm 4.2Kg off). Will I last? We'll see..... (**Note to Pupperz: out n' about trips don't count 😉; I'm also allowing myself up to three bikkies a day [no choccy ones though] in order to body-swerve any unplanned visits to ICU). Place yer bets............ 🤣 3 1 4

Bear's latest acquisition from the 'bay arrived today, so that'll be a new toy to check out and play with sorry, test. It wasn't cheap (a sound Deltic that won't be seeing the light of day at Bear Towers) but rather a lot cheaper than they were when available new (which this effectively is, as it's apparently unused). As it includes that s/w stuff and a stepper motor I'm sure Puppers would be intrigued...... Do tell us more! 53 minutes ago, figworthy said: And what would you imagine happens at a work station ? With current tales of muddling activity at Bear Towers (as yet unconfirmed) it appears likely that Puppers will be replacing Bear in the naughty corner with torture equipment supplied by CC Industrie GmbH. Dave 'tis true Governor! I have been multi-tasking and wielding a soldering iron and screw drivers in an attempt to persuade a 7mm Jinty (sadly not S7 he said in a blatant attempt to curry favour and dig oneself out of a hole) to emit sound as well as move. I have also been extending the capabilities of the Puppers Patented WiFi DCC++ EX Hand Controller for the 08 and with some success I might add. The last item includes a number of digital mathematical models to provide a more "finescale" operation of the green driving box that runs on parallel strips of metal. Oh yes and I cooked the sausages and mashed the potatoes this evening. Pah! Who said men (and even Pups) can't multi task? Night All. All this multi-tasking has worn me out! RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted September 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 21, 2023 Afternoon/evening all from Estuary-Land. Been a busy day today, thats why I didn't look in this afternoon. I was straightening out a few things in the garden until about five when the heavens opened up. Afterwards I had to keep an eye out for Hippo's @Happy Hippo as a muddy hollow appeared in the garden after the rain. I couldn't do any more in the garden so I took a long soak in the bath. 18

Close to Barking station good well equipped room but no catering. Talking to a market Inspector I found a really good greasy spoon with for mica tables about half a mile away across the park. Did you use the carpark in the park? If so you have me to thank for that.

I had to walk across the park diagonally past the ruined Abbey from where the market was. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted September 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 21, 2023 Good evening everyone The weather changed again this morning, so after I’d returned from the big orange DIY shed, I went outside and did a bit of gardening. We’d bought some plants at Bridgewater when went there on Monday, so they were planted. Charlie came round this after dinner, so we spent a very pleasant afternoon in the workshop, but he left early, as he was meeting up with a friend in Manchester this evening.

AndyID
Slightly surprised to be informed by MrsID today that I'm actually a year older than I thought I was. The Blender escapade continues. I found this this video pretty much explains it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6lSSGPhb4U All pretty obvious really 😀 Now I think I'll have some transcendental medication and lie down for a bit.

Given the general area from where the United Kingdom of England and Scotland imported some kings (königs?*), there was a specific reason for having an Anglicized version for Brunswick and the relevance of "Brunswick green". * Dukes / electors or whatever. Hopefully it's done its job (about 1blittre of fluid has drained away). Unfortunately I still have Dave my drain bag fitted as the Doctors ran out of time last night. Been an interesting night as a result.. don't squash Dave.. and don't disconnect ECG leads. One inmate removed last night.. he has been sent home ... he and his wife think an insulin jab a day means he can eat several bars of chocolate, sweet cakes, biscuits, put sugar in tea and on cornflakes and it has zero affect on his blood sugar levels.. it was 224.5 last night...on track for early death by over kindness methinks. Time to roll gently over and attempt some more shut eye. Baz Edited September 22, 2023 by Barry O 1

Usually as "Dry Sack" Medium Sherry a blend of Palomino and Pedro Ximenez. Quote A distinctive blend of Palomino and Pedro Ximenez grapes. Aged in oak casks for 6 years in the traditional Solera method. Intense aromas of dried nuts. Full-bodied and balanced. Lightly sweet, not too dry nor too sweet. Sherry is of course an Anglicization of Jerez (pronounced, approximately, as yair-eth); the region where it is made being Jerez de la Frontera (and a lovely place to visit). Quote Under the official name of Jerez-Xérès-Sherry, it is one of Spain's wine regions, a Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP). The word sherry is an anglicisation of Xérès (Jerez). Sherry was previously known as sack, from the Spanish saca, meaning "extraction" from the solera. Funny some days I get to read all the posts and some days there seems to be much more traffic. Perhaps I aught to spend more time ‘doing things’ rather than reading about what others have been doing. My iPad mini is also having a few off days, running v.e.ry, v.e.ry. slowly. It’s a real pain when trying to do the banking for the business. Phone much quicker but screen too small. I’m not sure what the issue is but the iPad is quite old now and probably should upgrade to the latest version. Perhaps is due a software update, I’ll have a look in the morning.

RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted September 22, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 22, 2023 (edited) I smiled this morning when I saw this one in Pasir Panjang, the APL Singapura, registered in Singapore. RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted September 22, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 22, 2023 A good thing about Malay/Indonesian is it is not tonal and pronunciation is very easy for English speakers, with no alien sounds. Japanese is pretty straightforward for that too, though you need to master the written scripts. Unlike languages like Mandarin and (god help us) Vietnamese which are highly tonal, use all sorts of alien sounds and are painful for English speakers (and I'm sure most other western language speakers) to properly master. I'm sure they have lots of fun at our expense, it's as much about how you say it as learning the words. 6

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted September 22, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 22, 2023 Good morning. The very last as an enforced ER. After shed-loads of rain with thunder in the latter part of yesterday this morning is dry. T-shirt of the day has been applied beneath the final wearing of House of Fun uniform. It feels slightly unreal that this is not only tge last time I shall be doing this but that we have less than three days left Upon the Hill of Strawberries. But duty calls.
