Evening all from Estuary-Land. The builder has been busy next door paving over the back garden. To gain access I've given them permission to come through my garden. Unfortunately the mini digger and mini dump truck have made a mess of the lawn weed patch. Adrian the builder has assured me that any damage will be put right. There are no ruts just the grass crushed down by the machinery and looking a bit brown, nothing that a packet of grass seed won't cure.

There's the problem.  They were forest walking boots, not HILL walking boots...

They were made in a forest but were suitable for mountain approaches. I have no idea why the friend thought I would be walking about with inappropriate footwear. Though since falling it is only recently that I can wear my left foot shoes properly. When we were setting off for the cruise I realised I wasn’t going to be able to get my nice formal shoes on but I found a pair of black lace up Clarks shoes that looked ok. The first night I tried them they fell to bits. This is a well reported occurrence. Google suggests it happens to shoes that are not worn regularly. I didn’t get chucked out of the dining room for having brown shoes on the first formal evening so,I didn’t implement my plan to buy a pair in Cadiz the first stop.

I doubt it - the vehicle  (posted on F***book, I see)  looks like it resides in/near Bromborough on the English side of the border. One this side of the border would though.

Good evening everyone 

 

After this morning’s task of removing the dead bird from the bedroom fireplace, the afternoon was spent cleaning up etc. Thankfully, we aren’t get the amount of flies that we had last night. I went to the bedroom about an hour ago and only found 2, last night there was about 50 or so. We’ll probably still get a few more, but I’m hoping they will stop over the next few days.

One of the absurdities of modern life is that body of opinion which uses social media and relies on smart devices complaining they're being tracked by big government and big tech. I don't dispute (nor do I especially like) that we're surveilled, tracked and used for data mining etc but anyone continuing to use social media, smart devices etc has basically accepted that as part of the deal.

In military intelligence it is not necessary to decrypt signals and Comms for it to be useful, just tracking volume and traffic flows reveals a lot.

We had a call yesterday morning that the Michigan cousins had decided to come after all. We set out to meet them under the Bluewater Bridge, but it was raining so hard that we turned back after about 20 miles. They didn't have any trouble, but called us after arriving in Guelph when they found out that the hotel was going to be over C$220 a night. And NO FREE BREAKFAST!  We persuaded them to go anyways and brought them over for an evening at our place. We took them out for breakfast this morning and then drove up to Elora to see the Tooth of Time.  This is a rock formation in the middle of the falls in the Grand River as it enters the gorge.
They left with plans to go to Point Pelee.  There were reports on the news tonight of major flooding in that part of Ontario.

A couple of neighbours came over today to return a book.  (His claim to fame is having acted on stage with Bill Shatner -- about 70 years ago*).  Dayle invited them in to see the trains. They seemed interested but I couldn't get the train on my layout to run. So I ran Dayle's Galloping Goose.  The train started to run all by itself while I was diagnosing the problem.

* No, we don't bring that up when we see him.

You do realise that you could be in for a world of problems, inasmuch as…

• The boots won’t move if there’s the “wrong sort of leaf” on the path…
• The bootlaces on the right boot are on strike, but not on the left.
• The government has awarded the contract for polishing the boots to “a mate down the pub”
• Your boots may or may not be exempt from ULFZ (Ultra Low Footprint Zone) charges.
• Many mornings you can’t get your boots on as “Just Stop Oil” is staging a “glue myself to the floor” demo in front of your shoe cupboard to protest against the amount of petrochemicals in your boots.

and finally

• Your “British” boots are actually just assembled in an industrial estate in the Midlands from parts shipped in from the PRC.

Bear here.....

Up at fairlysillyo'clock; not sure what today will bring as yet - quite possibly a clean of the H/S/L cos' (a) it's easy, (b) it's quick, (c) there's no guff such as ornaments to deal with, and (d) it's pretty clean anyway, having only just been completed.  So why bother?  Well the carpet laying generated fluff n' stuff and also so I can say/feel that all of Bear Towers has been cleaned.

 

I've just tried the mobile phone seller advertiser yet again - the b'sterd still displays the following message whenever I hit the "Buy Now" button:

 

"The card details supplied have not been accepted by our processing systems. This could be because:

Your address details given may not match the address registered with your bank. 

You may have inadequate funds in your account"

 

Of course I might be receiving fifteen mobile phones in today's post......

 

I feel a SnottyBearyPhoneCall to the company rapidly approaching.

I see the Orange One now has a mug shot - he obviously tried to give it his finest Paddington Bear Stare Total Tw@t stare....and succeeded magnificently.  Bear predicts a flood of T-shirts becoming available very soon, complete with suitable comments added.
