RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted June 12, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 12, 2023 Afternoon Awl, In excess of a Deltic has been spent. Left knee and right ankle are not happy at wandering the mean streets of GY. Some how GY has managed to close the main public toilets due to a dangerous medieval wall, but then gone ahead at rebuilding those in the shopping centre. Non food included 7 books, 4 of which are about parallel bits of metal, total cost less than £20.. New spade was obtained. SWMBO got some premade fancy wool, at end of line prices and a large book on weaving that cost... £1. Ben got a new toy, which he's currently beating up and a very large bag of chews. For the first time in many years we wandered into a place that is a food products store and a country.. I thought we had wandered into the Bears pantry. Vast quantities of pizza, chips and other pre prepared frozen chemicals. The only thing that reassured me an angry Bear wouldn't become protective, was a lack of LDC. We found no need to visit there again, as few items suited our normal purchasing requirements. According to the local seaweed inspector site we've finally reached the magic 20C, it certainly is humid out there. 100M of thin Dyneema string has this minute arrived for SWMBO to attach various bits of loom together. And for your delectation this year's Official 3 River Race Video. 20 3

RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted June 12, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 12, 2023 I have been packing. My suitcase and my contribution to the the overnight case are complete. Aditi’s packing is almost ready. She had produced a lovely file of documents for shuttles and hotels though. So we are ready. Our plan is to go straight after an early breakfast. However that is always our plan. Perhaps it will work this time. We haven’t been to a Schengen area since 2018 so it will be interesting to see what is different. We will be going on a cruise later this summer. We recently paid the balance and phoned up the car parking service to make use of our parking option. No space. They have taken on the parking for other (some very big) ships and don’t have space. This had never happened before. Anyway we booked with another port parking company, which gets very good reviews. Then Aditi phoned the cruise company and informed them we hadn’t been able to use the included parking code. Aditi said they waffled a bit and then gave her a nice amount of on board spend in compensation, more than the new parking company charged. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted June 12, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2023 As planned I rang the dentist while I was having coffee, the recorded message had just ended when the receptionist answered the phone, I have an appointment for July 18th which is exactly 3 months after my previous one so I am very pleased. I have three monthly appointments as I have a gum and tooth problem. I spent a lot of the day doing jobs in the garden, I've made a space for the chrysanthemums to go in later this week and had a good tidy up. I have put more things from the house and garage in the bin to go tomorrow. I may add some more later on. I've spent part of the afternoon chatting with several neighbours over a glass of wine in a garden just along the road, which was very pleasant. Next will be tea then later on I may have a walk when the sun is less bright - or I may just sit and read. David 4
Ian Abel
Good Monday... Weekend review; Quiet Friday evening. Saturday, busy with some to-do, shopping for items to contribute to the evening party we were attending, avoiding a downpour, much needed rain, an inch in the gauge. Evening party was "excellent", we stayed much longer than we expected and had some engaging conversations with some new folks as well as old friends. Sunday, slept in (too much party last night!?!??!). Jemma was due to drop Whitney off but has a serious sinus issue so called in sick. Spent part of the day just relaxing and enjoying the extremely pleasant weather, lower temperatures and clean air - yay! Late afternoon we went to the "soft opening" of our friends kids' latest restaurant location. Lots of folks there, good showing and looks like they've picked a prime location for the expansion of their venture. Happy to support them. Yesterday weather was still pleasant, and this Am more of the same, 11c first thing, partly cloudy and air quality good. Later a high of only 23c, no precipitation. Carry on.

RMweb Premium Popular Post 45156 Posted June 12, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 12, 2023 Afternoon All, My what a thunderstorm we had last night - absolutely biblical rain volumes - the gully outside our house either couldn't cope, or was blocked - or a combination of both - next door had to move their car, as did I and the guy next door rang the council. Once the rain had abated to just a downpour he got a gizmo that he uses to unblock the sink, and it appeared to work and the flooding was gone within ten minutes - it was only a springly thing. I reported the flood online and then rang, and all credit to the council, they sent somebody round to see me this afternoon - apparently they also turned out in the night, but as the flooding was no longer present, there was nothing to be done - he showed me the gully - it was not blocked, and the water level was just under the exit pipe. He said it was "possibly" blocked last night and our evening activities had cleared any blockage due to the volume and pressure of the water and our intervention - however, as four gullies open into the one outside our house, which only drains into a 3" pipe. it might well happen again due to the volume of water. However, the response of the council was actually very efficient and prompt. Other than that, I Oxfammed, and went to the Barclays "presence" in the library to move some money around after another eBay payout. I also took two prescription requests to the Drs, then realised that this was a bit of a waste of time, as 30747 has an appintment to see a GP tomorrow - she's waited three weeks to see a particular GP she could have seen another in three days, but not a lady). In other medical news, I am deaf in one ear due to wax - I phoned on Thursday, was seen on Friday afternoon, and have an appointment for microsuction on Thursday lunch time - two interesting points - one, we can get microsuction still on the NHS at our GP practice, and two,we can still get appoinments in pretty early course. Popular Post Coombe Barton
Got in to work today. Went to the coffee pod, expecting to be joined by the students who has=d said they would. Two hours sat alone. I spent the time composing a missive for them. Then an online meeting this afternoon for which I was in the office, then a visit to Sainsbury's to fond the on our meats which are now in the freezer. The journey was fraught with a long tailback. I'd have been more productive at home without the travel

Actually it's a miracle the Base never banned us after A Certain Bear set off "some sugar stuff**" in the Changing Rooms - which was directly below the Instructor's Office; they got rather concerned when they saw clouds of smoke billowing past their windows.... Fortunately it just resulted in an almighty bo11okin', with no further action. All the skirting for the Hallway now cut; the next stage will be sanding then temporarily fitting to the walls prior to painting. I had "a bit of a result" cos' the 3m length of skirting was enough - but only just; there's less than 5" left over. In other, other news..... As a result she now spends four hundred quid a month on travel & parking (plus the time it takes travelling to & from the job); the new-ish regime running the show now insist that staff even have to record "comfort breaks" every time they go for a wee etc. She said that if they start wanting 5 days a week in the Office then she's off - several staff already have, meaning she has to cover their jobs as well. 1

RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted June 12, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2023 (edited) Slightly more comfortable here this evening. Bike computer was clocking 100F in the sun this afternoon. Got a horrible noise from the chainstays area at the back end, suspect a duff bearing so examination booked in. Decided against continuing on to the cricket which was fortunate as the match was abandoned and we would have faced an hour ride back in torrential rain. 9 hours ago, PupCam said: Investigations into the monstrous Beeza oil leak have cast doubt on it emanating from the magdrive orifice after all.
