RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 Good moaning from a bright and sunny Charente. Not a cloud visible in the sky. The supermarket awaits my attention. Yesterday's French class went very well. 4 of us as students and most of the class was conducted in French and we could mostly understand each other. My old French teachers, Pid Middleton and pea balls Coggan would have been amazed. Time to get on with the shopping list. Jamie 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 Ey up! I need a few days away from cricket! ( but won't be getting that). Game Saturday.. very close, game Sunday, awful!, teas were good both days. Yesterday a trip to Edgbaston.. and , glory be, the same route to get to the ground and then to get home was given by Waze. I traversed spaghetti junction easily and both trips went well. But why call the A38M the Expressway? It was the slowest part of the journey. Meeting was ok. Today.. its off to Masham for an over 60s game, then a women's game tomorrow at Weetwood....busy times cricket wise. In between all of that we now have solar panels fitted and working on our roof and the battery is charging as required. Woo hooo! Congratulations to @sixoh8sixoh on your marriage and new born! Time for my mugatea then off to massage (as the locals saybit) will one of the breweris be brewing I wonder?? Stay safe! Baz 20 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 Good morning all, Blue sky and sunshine here. A fine and dry day is forecast with just an outside chance of a light shower later. 10°C rising to 17°C. Usual aches all over but hopefully they'll ease when I start moving around. Main item on the agenda today is an appointment at a minor surgery clinic to assess a small something on my forearm which is a nuisance and I keep catching on things. Hopefully they can cut it off...the thing, not my arm! There is no parking at the clinic so I'll have to use the main public car park and walk or get a bus and walk. The walk takes me past a nice little pub. Think I'll get the bus! 🤪 Time for my Shredded Wheat. Have a good one, Bob.

Dave Gorman is good. One thing I do find beneficial is that after a good chuckle I do find I sleep much better. 14 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 A fine sunny morning here but it looks like clouding over with showers or rain later. The toe doesn't hurt today and having rearranged the bedroom I didn't walk into any furniture when I got up. The sandals feel more comfortable, in a bit I may go out for a short ride in the car for a breath of air. The text has arrived saying the shopping is on its way with two substitutes - frozen chicken joints instead of turkey, I can live with that. I had a look at the books which came yesterday, the big one is "Lost England 1870 - 1930" , it has 560 pages and over 1100 photos. As you expect a lot of it is buildings, but it does cover a good range from town halls to slums. The interesting things (to me anyway) are the incidentals - hand barrows, the clothes, street furniture and so on. It covers most of England, though as you would expect there are more photos of cities than small villages. There are a few railway photos. RRP was £50, I bought mine from museumselection.co.uk in their sale section for £12.99 plus 4.99 p&p, so I am pleased. I also bought a book about Monet and some blank greetings cards. Their website is worth a quick look, they have an interesting selection of things. The rest of the day so far is a blank canvas, if I do go out I shall probably just go and have a look at the Quayside and not walk much as that is still awkward. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 Good morning everyone It was sunny when I sat down to eat my breakfast, but it’s gone a little bit cloudy now. I’ve just had a context from the courier delivering my paint order, it’s definitely being delivered today, I just don’t know what time! So, as it’s in 2 parts, 1 being 50lbs and the other 25lbs, I’m on door answering duties until it arrives, as Sheila will not be able to handle boxes of that size. So the plan for today is to potter about in the cellar and at the same time listen out for the door. Once they’ve arrived, I’ll go to the big orange DIY shed to collect a click and collect order. Back later. Brian

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 Pah! Plan A has failed because the "nice little pub" doesn't open until 15.00hrs during the week. TCs etc. However Plan B has been hatched. Our town has a one-way system which means that my walk back to catch a bus has to traverse the High Street where there are several pubs, all of which open at at sensible time. I think I'll be OK. 19

An early morning jumbo raid on Lidl - Bear managed to blow £136 😮 which is quite possibly one of the biggest food etc. "shops" ever. Bluddy Hell. I don't mess about though - Bran Flakes? 6 Boxes etc. I might get very sad and work out what it'd cost for a similar purchase from the likes of Tess & Co sometime. In other news.... Popular Post monkeysarefun
I've got a book by Brian May ( yes THAT Brian May) called A Village Lost And Found. One of his passions is stereophotography and he collected dozens of stereo photos of English village life in the 1850s taken by a Victorian photographer and published them in a book, along with a stereo viewer to view them in the original 3D. Brilliant stuff, 5 stars. Oh, here it is. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Village-Lost-Found-Williams-Photographs/dp/0711230390 He also has a couple of other 3D books on different themes which I can't recall right now which I have also got in a box in storage. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted May 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 16, 2023 Afternoon Awl, Much mowing done, it needed it, Sanded and gave picture frame a coat of paint. It'll need doing again. Tried to work on the oldest laptop, but it has died, It totally refuses to boot up, it's not worth spending money on it as it's 17 years old. Research is now on what can be recovered, certainly memory and Hard drive. The final part aka a keyboard is due to arrive today, for second oldest laptop. Unfortunately it's a herpes delivery so when it will arrive is anyone's guess. I'll have to read up and see if the memory from the oldest can be added.
