RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 (edited) Man from BT, say " that was an easy fix , fuse blown at the exchange" Problem with that is, what caused it to blow? Escape to the country, TV show Norfolk, couple ask for in the triangle between Norwich Cromer and Yarmouth. That was my triangle when searching. First two houses they show? Well outside the triangle, one in a village a friend lives in. One 15 miles north west of us on the coast in the triangle. They did visit Faiths animal rescue 2 miles away, where the lady across the road works. Edited April 25, 2023 by TheQ 22

RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 Bear here... An afternoon of looking at the Bannister mods., measuring, marking, pondering, adjusting, more pondering, worrying, not being happy with, measuring a different way, pondering, wondering if it'll work, thinking "this is cr@p", yet more pondering, staring, sitting and aimlessly looking at it, more wondering, pondering and being generally very unhappy with the whole f. show. And the outcome? There isn't one - it's still not even close. Big Turdycurses. Ever had a day like that, or is it just Bear? Bear gone

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 (edited) At the end of the last post I was leaving Cambois. I headed south through the rest of the village and arrived at North Blyth and drove to the end of the road by the alumina terminal, opposite Blyth. I then walked south past the terminal's rail connection, through a small pedestrian gap at the side of the gates until I had the views I wanted of Blyth and the harbour entrance. It is all explained in the photos below. The first 4 photos show a panorama of Blyth Quayside from north to south. Details are in the captions. Note - parking on the Quayside and road is free and there is no time limit. For those who knew Blyth in olden times it is very different now. Blyth from North Blyth 1. The building on this side of the River Blyth is the end of the alumina terminal. Across the river on the right is the wind turbine test facility, the new brick buildings by the water house the town council and my solicitors, then there is the actual Quayside, a nice open space. Further back are houses and flats. 2 This shows the length of Blyth Quayside with new offices and car park for workers. Beyond them is the old police station, a vets - and what was Mum's flat at the far end of the road in the centre. 3 The southern end of the Quayside and the old staiths, now a wooden promenade. There are new offices, the white building is a hotel, to its left are new town houses. 4 Turning round further south there is the view to the harbour entrance with St Mary's lighthouse in the far distance. Obviously the sea is on the left. 5 The sailing ship is Williams II owned by Blyth Tall Ship, a training provider charity which also offers day trips and cruises as well as helping many people with work training and courses for interests. The south harbour, which is a working part with cargo ships and the yacht moorings is behind the "Port of Blyth " building with the warehouses in the right background in grey. Beyond all that is several miles of sand to Seaton Sluice in the far distance. Moving upstream, to the north of the wind turbine test facility is more commercial harbour, today 2 ships were in, the one above Normand Superior, and the one below. Not in these photos is the northernmost part of the commercial harbour, on the side of the river I am standing on which is also busy with imports/ exports and offshore support. Grand Canyon III I hope this wasn't too long and boring. David Edited April 25, 2023 by DaveF

Popular Post Ozexpatriate
My semi-annual car insurance premium has increased by about 35% in the six months since my last bill. (No accidents, no claims, no milestone birthdays - just 'pay us more'). Furthermore, the company (one of the largest insurers in the US) has presumably fired all their cheque-processing people (whose offices I used to drive past on my way to work in the Chicago suburbs) as a cost-cutting measure and they no longer offer the option to post them a cheque for payment. Instead their 'ways to pay' options include 'download our app', 'set up electronic billing', 'pay by 'phone' etc, none of which appeal. The local agent will accept a cheque, which I could mail, but I decided to drop by the agent's and paid in person yesterday afternoon. I probably *should have* dropped collision coverage which would have brought the price back down to where it was - my car being almost 20 years old, almost any accident will render it a total loss - but, on the spot, couldn't make the call to change coverage. Next time I will. Since then, in the early morning hours, I received an email acknowledging payment, followed, an hour later, by another email titled "Review your policy before it renews" - the first step suggesting I sign up for their spyware/electronic driving monitoring package. It's hard to imagine how this isn't a racket. Their stock price dropped about 25% in the last month or so. 4
RMweb Gold Popular Post TheSignalEngineer Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 Welcome to the cricket season. My viewing equipment on Sunday included umberella, blanket and hot coffee flask. Squally winds, rain and hail followed by sunshine. Sammy's team won, he took a catch and got two wickets for one run in three overs. Thomas had a good time with the District team, scoring runs, taking wickets and catches. just hope it's better weather next weekend. 14 1

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 25, 2023 Evening all from Estuary-Land. The arthritis/sciatica is a lot less troublesome now but pills will still be popped before bedtime to keep them at bay. Still sorting out my brothers bungalow, my nephew ventured into the loft a couple of days ago and found a load more diecast models and some books, also there's some soft toys that were collected by his late wife, they have gone to the charity shop.

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 Just back from the MRC / pub, the AGM of the MRC at the pub. Mostly routine stuff except for the increase in subs due to the 40% increase in rent and the doubling of the electricity bill. Luckily we have doubled the membership since the club moved here so the increase isn't 40% .. Other news, the breakaway club that departed 10 years ago, then appeared in the industrial unit next to us about 5 years later are departing. They can't afford the increased rent. Other other news two members of the club are sadly ill and can't get to the club for some time. Other other other news, two associate members are returning to the UK shortly and will become full members again. Other other other other news, 3 new prospective members are visiting next week. Muggachoccy gone Goodnight Awl, PS the cider was nice in the pub. 20
RMweb Gold Popular Post PupCam Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 Evening All! Happy Belated Birthday to @Dave Hunt and very sorry to hear @Two_sugars sad news. Up early this morning (well it was for Puppers!) as a trip to the hospital for a routine check was on the cards. Just like buses coming along together; I've another consultation tomorrow and a visit to the hospital pharmacy to look forward to! The Beeza was taken for a short run of approximately 10 miles around the lanes of Puppershire. Seemed to work although some oil leaks remain that must be sorted. Everyone expects the odd drip from (and on 🤣) an old British bike but running round doing an impression of the Torrey Canyon is probably several steps too far. The timing chest cover was removed when I got home for a nose at the gears, the funny sealing washer (what little can be seen of it without removing the mag gear) and the new main bearing (again what little can be seen of it). All items seemed to be in good order and there was plenty of oil getting in there. If only I could see copious streams of oil in and around the big end I'd be happy. Trouble is there's no way to see inside the the crank chamber unless you have X Ray eyes! As a result of last weeks adventure to visit Little Bytham a telephone call may have been made this afternoon to a purveyor of round, spoked objects and accessories that provide the interface between parallel strips of metal and mobile kettle units. A credit card is currently laying, heavily sedated, in an induced coma in the ICU. I'm hoping it will pull through but I fear a significant relapse may occur shortly as we also have to buy a new cooker ..... Night All. 2 2 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2023 Good evening everyone Well, despite leaving home with plenty of time to get to my appointment, I only just made it. One set of traffic lights at a Judith and below the M60 were on red as I drew up, then they failed, so crossing the junction was a free for all, it took almost 10 minutes to do so! Then, when I got to the surgery where my appointment was, there was no parking spaces available, so I had to park on the road, which meant I had to get a ticket from a pay machine near by. Luckily I just about had enough small change on me, 2 hours was the minimum stay and that cost me £2, thieving barstewards. Anyway, my PSA has once again risen, it’s gone up from 4.1 to 6.6, so I’ve now been referred back to the oncologist, which means a trip to ‘The Christie’ very soon. I should get a letter giving me a date for said appointment, sometime in the next 2 weeks or so. As I was leaving the surgery, I spotted a young lady who was in the same predicament as I had been, in that there being no parking spaces available. She looked quite anxious, but the parking ticket I’d purchased had still got 90 minutes left to go, so I asked if she would like it, she said yes please, so that’s my good deed for the day done. 1
