RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 23, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 23, 2023 Good evening everyone Well I wasn’t wrong about the weather, just as we were getting in the car, it started to rain, which continued for about 2 hours. It stopped, just as Sheila was setting off back home from her Zumba class, but resumed not long after she got home. Needless to say, no work was done in the garden today. However, I’ve not been idle, more work has been done on the Sherman tank’s turret gearbox. I made 4 brass bushes for the 2 gearbox axles and then built the gearbox itself. This has been constructed out of 2mm plasticard, that has suitable holes drilled in it for the brass bushes. It’s currently sat on the work bench setting. Charlie called round this afternoon, but we didn’t go to the workshop, we sat in the living room and chatted for 3 hours or so. It was lovely to see him, but I did miss not going to the workshop with him for the afternoon. Still, at least Sheila got to see him for more than just a a few minutes, as is the norm.

iL Dottore
CONTINUED The Doc made a broad, sweeping gesture: “This town is a refuge. We’re all running from something. Take CrazyQ here, he’s running from the law. He shot a man for kicking his dog, Ben”. Winslow Boy nodded, he could understand that. The Doc continued “…. In the back, at night, down a dark alley, 10 days later“ iL Dottore gestured around the table “everyone in this town has done something terrible, something that has banished them forever from society” He got up and stood behind Smiley GrandadBob, lightly putting his hands on the man’s shoulders and continued. “We learn to get along, here in the township of Early Rise“. Unperturbed, SmileyGrandadbob took a very large, very long and very sharp Bowie knife from a holster and pointedly started cleaning his nails. “What’s in the past, stays in the past” continued iL Dottore. “We don’t talk about cockwombles to SmileyGrandadbob, we don’t ask why Flyboy Hunt is dressed head to toe in Crimson Lake, and so on. And…” The Doc’s face darkened, his grin disappearing as fast as a blown out candle flame, “…as we like to go on living, we never, ever, say the words, Haute Cuisine in front of The Bear” IL Dottore leaned against the table, his grin returning as though it had never ever gone away “I know why you’re here, son“ drawled The Doc around his big grin, “That Mexican warlord Capitano Cynico has promised you a shed for killing me, am I right?” Winslow Boy looked up, startled, how did The Doc know that? IL Dottore sighed, “goddammit, my twin brother can be an absolute a$$hole at times”. TO BE CONTINUED (maybe) 1 1 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted March 24, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 24, 2023 Bear here..... First Second mission of the day is to remove the wheel from Mickey the MG to search for any signs of screws, nails or other unwelcome device designed to stop the air from staying where it's supposed to be; I'm rather hoping the entire episode can be blamed on a dodgy tyre valve (replacements are due to be delivered this morning) but I've a sneaky suspicion that Bear isn't gonna be that lucky..... The first mission has already been completed, namely researching and ordering numerous examples of Anaglypta/Superglypta textured wallpaper for The Great H/S/L Refurb. Mission three is to be danglin' yet more wallpaper, hopefully. Bear gone. 13

RMweb Gold Popular Post PupCam Posted March 24, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) Morning All! "Puppers' Patented 'Pointment Procuring Process" for the GP has let him down seriously this morning or rather the hardware (mobile phone, land line and lugholes) used to implement it. It took about 30 re-dials to actually get it answered and when it was I was "Caller 25" in the queue. My call is "very important" (they keep telling me) and I should hold. Currently been on hold for 30 minutes and whoopy I'm "Caller 14" in the queue - I suspect mainly due to natural wastage rather than "having been processed". As appointments can't be pre-booked either online, on the phone or in person how is one supposed to get an appointment with the doctor to discuss previous blood test results and have the necessary examination? Beats the ....... out of me! UPDATE! That's 90 minutes I won't be getting back then. To be entirely fair to them, a single, future appointment slot was offered with no others being available. Unfortunately I will be some 100+ miles away on that particular day so that wasn't going to work. So, I'll just have to go through the whole process again in a couple of weeks when more appointments* are released. * I use the term in its loosest sense! Have a good day everyone! 😃 TTFNQ Edited March 24, 2023 by PupCam Update added 1

We'll impressed by the fact they got our bags transferred! Heathrow is now a disorganised mess. Queues to get into the cou try were long... and the e passport machines work slightly differently everywhere. Why? RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 24, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 24, 2023 Good morning everyone A bright, sunny day, here in England's northwest corner, there is a light breeze and a few clouds, the temperature is currently 8C, although the sun seems to have disappeared at the moment! We had some overnight rain but that has stopped, but the ground and the windows are still wet. My first task will be to walk to the butchers for the weekly meat rations and a pork pie for my dinner. My second task is the weekly visit to the Trafford Centre for a few more items that we cannot source locally. Whilst I’m there I shall call into Waterstone’s, head to the history section and see if there are any books that take my fancy. There are no firm plans for the afternoon, James should be calling round, but as yet he hasn’t confirmed this, so we are assuming he’s not coming today. Best get on, back later. Both got stinking colds now, gift from said kids. Howe tomorrow. Rain has stopped, blowing a hoolie now. Pah 1

"Certainly, Mr. Puppers, Sir......what day and time would you like, and do you prefer Tea or Coffee? And would Sir like some Bread Pudding to scoff during the appointment?" Yours, Cynical Bear. In other news..... Bear was rather impressed to discover that Mickey the MG's tyre was still inflated this morning - an encouraging sign. I then took the wheel off and a thorough inspection revealed absolutely no sign whatsoever of anything naughty being buried in the tyre. Very Big Tick. The wheel's back on again and awaiting someone from The Big River to deliver a batch of tyre valve cores and removal tool so I can swap the valve over for a new one - the current one is definitely "iffy" cos' when Bear disconnected the Air Compressor yesterday I could hear the air escaping and multiple attempts at depressing then releasing the core didn't succeed in fixing it, so I screwed the cap on tight (there's a rubber seal inside the cap) to get me back to Bear Towers. As for Mission #3 - well that's been delayed until this afternoon, though I'll cut some lengths of paper in readiness. Bear Gone. 11 1

Since the earliest appointment the NHS could offer for Jill to see a cardiologist was August (!!) we decided to go private and she got an appointment within a week. The downside is that each visit to the hospital, and so far there have been three, costs a couple of Deltics but as far as I am concerned it has to be. I'm just glad that we can, sort of, afford it. To say that the system sucks is a bit of an understatement really. I'm becoming more and more convinced that the agenda at government level is for us to end up with a US style health business, God help us. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted March 24, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) Good morning all, Raining now, tipping it down in fact but it was sunny earlier. Quite breezy and the wind might get stronger with heavy, thundery showers a possibility. 12°C and that's about how warm it will get today. Late on parade as I was up late up and then The Boss wanted to visit Asda and the dry cleaners. Took the car in case of rain and also I was aching somewhat. Much Aching in fact due to walking about 4 miles yesterday visiting the Great Metropolis. School reunion was terrific marred only by the long list of those who have passed on since we last met 3 years ago. It was really great to see two old rugby playing mates that I haven't seen for many years. We formed a quite useful back row (after I'd moved from being a hooker..no silly comments needed 🤪) for many seasons. One of them (Chris) is apparently still lucky to be with us after having major heart surgery and spending 11 weeks in hospital. Lots of hilarious anecdotes about school and rugby incidents and a promise to get together again before the next reunion. We'll see, these things are often said through a beer glass but don't always transpire but here's hoping. We have visitors for a meal and drinks tomorrow so unsurprisingly The Boss is jumping up and down and saying the usual "weneedtocleanthisplaceupabitit'satip" and other similar stuff. To keep the peace I'll drive The Shark for a while and hopefully this will calm her down. Lots of rugby to watch over the weekend starting tonight so that is A Good Thing. 'avagoodun, Bob..
