RMweb Premium polybear Posted January 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 20, 2023 Bear here..... A laid back kinda day so far - the high point being the descaling of the kettle; I'd left it a bit too long and some areas under the lid & spout needed copious attention with some scotchbright (it's stainless steel) - it's come up well so no harm done. A reminder to do it more regularly is now set in the email calendar. Also carried out was backing up the laptop to various hard drives - also overdue as I've had a reminder for some weeks. Today's deliveries were the MDF I ordered on Tues (16:00) for the Leccy C.U. Box and the Deltic 😢 Paint ordered on Wed (21:30) for the woodwork and walls - pretty good service in this Bear's Book. Apart from that it's been a bits n' pieces day so far, apart from an unexpected flying visit from the Plasterer so he could take a quick look at the job and check if Tues am is ok instead of Monday - fine by this Bear. In other news...... I've relented and used both the C/H & Gas Fire today. Buggeritt. Bear gone. 17

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 20, 2023 A'noon. After the old farts brekky I took Jayne for her flight, then back home to....doss about in the garden. Not gardening, but there was a strange feeling in the air, it felt.....spring-like. How odd after such a miserable week, it only got to 7c but pressure is relatively high at 1020mb and it became really nice and sunny. The birds were giving it their best, and a pleasant hour was had sitting on my bench contemplating the world in general, giving things a coat of thinking about. I wonder what it is that makes us feel like that uplifting spirit? 20

Popular Post Ian Abel
POETS, Doing that. Yesterday, not much, Whitney dropped off, Jemma headed to Heathrow, Mrs moving the last of the Christmas decoration, all I have to do is haul the large boxes to the basement. 🤯 Then, on to choir happy=hour/ rehearsal and that was about it! This evening a Zoom happy-hour with our Arizona friends and probably discuss some options for when we're out there next week. Somewhat busy weekend, tomorrow morning singing at a funeral for a long-time choir members husband. Evening we're off with a couple of neighbors to a dinner/supper-club to hear some great local artists. Sunday "MAY" be quiet, though I'm sure we can find some items requiring attention, especially since we're leaving Tuesday. Planning cat sitting etc., already done but always last-minute things to attend to. -7c overcast but no expected precipitation today, high around -2c Later.

I wonder what it is that makes us feel like that uplifting spirit? The causes of a release of dopamine are many, including things the awl would get cross about. Food and alcohol can be reliable triggers, though not necessarily good for us in the long term. For those of us with some 'poetry in our souls', a fine day, nice view, a good walk... I find the consolations of the natural world helps deal with the stresses of the constant rear-guard action that life can often seem like - sorry, I've had a bad week, expenditure/loss of several deltics and treated badly by 'public servants' who have a bad attitude. Perhaps it's silly but I like to watch the birds feeding in the garden. Walking the dogs - including a black one - used to be a good way to banish black dogs. Snapping a good wildlife frame after a stalk/wait. Having a culinary experiment turn out well. Feeling like I've achieved something, whether it's to do with work or growing something in the garden. In a small way, hearing about other ER's achievements, whether it's Jamie repairing public memorials, Bear's HSL activities, Brian's cellar, Dave's photography from his walks or any of the myriad of other things ERs get up to and make some progress on. I could go on but had probably better not! 11

Personally I would go further and describe the current trend as discrimination against those that aren't able to conduct their business in such a way. And as for those patronising tw*ts that suggest "If you can't do x,y z yourself perhaps you could get a friend or relative to do it on your behalf? NO WTF should they !!!! RMweb Premium polybear Posted January 20, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 20, 2023 Good: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-64344896 Joshua Molnar stabbed Yousef Makki with a knife during a row in Hale Barns, Greater Manchester, in March 2019. He was cleared of manslaughter and murder. An inquest later ruled out both unlawful killing and accidental death and recorded a narrative conclusion. Bear would've been pretty p1ssed with that outcome as well - I recall thinking "WTF" at the time. Does anyone know if the outcome of a fresh inquest could potentially lead to a re-trial? 1 7

That sounds like an insinuating suggestion you should not be let out by yourself. What happens if you are on your own and don't have the latest piece of shiny tech, with no friends or relatives to 'turn to'? I agree, it's discrimination against many in our society, including those who think for themselves and decide (for whatever reason) not to buy the latest shiny toy. State sanctioned peer pressure? Galaxy collisions don't destroy all the stars. One assumes there's some possibility that some of them might bump into or attract each other. It is a big gravitational rearrangement. 11

It is both and neither. I presume the big pop-up videos are sold directly by Warners. For the other ads there are some prohibitions, but it is mostly up to AdChoices by Google - which relies on lightning 'auctions'. Websites you visit are likely to bid more. Curiously (except for the big video) I'm not seeing any advertising right now. 12 1
