RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) Good moaning from a damp and getting wetter Charente. Various things got done yesterday and a pleasant evening watching telly ensued. Happy Valley is superb. Today is log barrowing day otherwise we will get cold. After that I may even try to get some shed time. I also need to collect a prescription. Mask wearing is still mandatory in health care facilities which includes pharmacies. Ttfn. A favourite of mine since I built a 1/48 scale version from a little known (at least to me) manufacturer back n the 70’s. The name of the manufacturer completely escapes me and the kit was a product of its time and a bit of a Curate’s egg. Time to drink coffee and get up I think. Back later. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2023 Mooring Awl, Had a very bad night with lots of aches and pains, worrying when yesterday was spent not doing a lot physically. Right ankle and left elbow are particularly bad. Pink pills were deployed just now. Ben the alarm clock Collie was up at going to work time, but didn't try to get me up, he left that till 07:00, which is a reasonable time for me. He had a very good snuffle going to all parts of the garden and was particularly pleased with himself sneaking round behind me from a distant part of the garden. Dry above , not much breeze, chilly, very soggy below as we had heavy rain last night. I noticed when I got home a cabinet in the hall way has had much of its contents removed, I suspect that means part 2 of carpet removal will take place. I've also been told the wall paper steamer needs to be found. As well as above, today's plans include cutting the fore and aft panels for the centre console, spent much of the night going over and over the design of that. The topping lift, Cunningham, main outhaul, and vang will definitely need to go to the console with provision for the main halyard, jib halyard, jib down haul, should it be needed. SWmBO has just had a thought, the hall way book shelf is on the back of the chimney stack, so she brought me a couple of books off the shelf, they are definitely warmer on the back. So if we completely cupboard that in we will just heat books, insulating the chimney therefore more heat will escape straight up and out... All stop for a cupboard redesign. Time for a muggacoffee and a think. 4
RMweb Premium polybear Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 Bear here..... I watched the Spare being interviewed last night - ok in general I thought; it was certainly true what he said regarding the Palace silence after Tw@t Clarkson's comments, yet when "they" screwed up at a Palace Reception it was all hands on deck. Today sees plumbing day; as it involves no sanding then Bear is a lot happier. Hopefully nothing will happen to change that..... Popular Post iL Dottore
Good Morning All from a chilly City of London. I’m awaiting my Eggs Benedict breakfast and catching up on the latest UK news (lots to comment upon, little of which suitable for ERs…. 11 hours ago, polybear said: …And if that wasn't enough fun, this evening it was refilling the proper plastic pill bottle with hundreds of little round thingies that are delivered in those bluddy plastic thingies that clog up landfill. I’d be careful there, Bear. The reason that modern medications are generally blister packed is to keep the drug stable as many drugs degrade when exposed to moisture (in the air). Drug stability and package are sophisticated disciplines in their own right. And some of the cutting edge technology drugs require very specialised storage and preparation - I’m currently working on a cancer treatment that has to be shipped and stored at -80*C, thawed just before use and then prepared for infusion in a laboratory cabinet, injected into an i.v. bag which is in turn put into a sealed container before being sent from the pharmacy to the chemotherapy unit and infused into the patient. A bit more complicated than taking a pill with a glass of water 😮 iD p.s. I just finished my Eggs Benedict - disappointing to say the least. MY Eggs Benedict are much, much better. 10 1 2 4
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2023 Good morning from a breezy but not howling, dampish rock - disappointing 6c. Like Q, the damaged bits have been problematic this last few days/nights, had to hit the big prescription-only Co-codamols last night. I see atmospheric pressure was down under 980 last night, that'll be the reason. Improved to 991 now. The day will be honey-do duties once I get going, arrange service for my car, look at moving banks (HSBC pulling out of the bright lights of Ramsey) take some clothes to the collection point and something else I have....totally forgotten. No doubt a sharp reminder will be delivered this evening. I was going to say by the domestic authorities, but I am the domestic authority - with no meaningful authority of course. 😆
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 9, 2023 Good morning all, Some blue sky here with a hint of brightness in the East. A bright and breezy day as well as some showers forecast. Currently 5°C and it may reach 8°C. Up a bit later than usual as there doesn't seem to be a need to gettamoveon. A couple of parcels from Amazon are due but that's about all the excitement happening here today. Have a good one, Bob.

Should we not make mask wearing national policy again? ...https://johncolby.wordpress.com/2023/01/08/the-china-new-year-effect-and-variant-xbb-1-5-forecast-for-february/ Thankfully as I see it our GP surgeries have stuck to masks whenever inside their premises. Always make sure that I have one with me anyway but prefer to keep distance whenever possible. This last weekend a parking app actually worked for the very first time, a relief, since having to telephone each time is expensive as have not had loose cash since the lockdowns began and, thinking about it, have not visited a bank during that time. Thankfully SWMBO does all the shopping. Cards for fuel but do not use the pumps where you have to state how much fuel you want before use - hate the idea as my normal is to 'fill-up', cannot understand those who put in £20 etc. each time. 14
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not a bad night last night but as it was a bit chilly so I put the fan heater on, then I fell asleep. This morning the temperature in the bedroom was 29C.! I checked the monitor this morning and AAAGH! At least it kept Arthur Itis away. I think I will start wearing a mask when out and about now. Fortunately I have a packet of masks unused from last time. 11

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 Good morning everyone A bright and sunny start to the day here in England’s northwest corner, but we had quite a bit of rain fall last night. Well it’s back to normal now, once again I’ll be completing the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix on a Monday morning. Apart from that, there’s not a lot else planned for today. I might do a bit more surfing of that internet site I found last night. I’d best get a move on, back later. Brian.
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) I've had my phone call from the GP about my test results. The good news is that blood sugars and cholesterol are fine, a little bit better than in September. It appears that I have IBS not IBD, which was what I really thought, I can continue to cope with that by diet as I have for over ten years. I am very pleased. However the stool smear test shows a trace of blood, right on the upper borderline of normal. The GP and I both think it is to do with the IBS causing constipation at times and discomfort (to put it mildly) around the anal sphincter and I was constipated when I did the test and the straining can cause small tears around the an.us . That has happened for many years. It is so borderline it could be left but I decided that it would be an idea to go a bit further and check it isn't anything else. He did the referral while I was on the phone, I will hear what happens next with two weeks. I am pleased with the speed of getting the results as the blood test was last Wednesday and I posted the stool smear test on Wedensday late afternoon, the larger stool sample was handed to the surgery on Thurdsday morning. RMweb Premium The White Rabbit Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 Morning all, A better night than some I've had lately, though an early hours bathroom visit did keep me awake, felt like a mid-watch all hands sail change, though thankfully with less splashing... The weather looks changeable, we've had blue sky, peltitdoons and rainbows already. The robin joined the blue-tit on the nuts at breakfast time, though they alternated, never on the feeder simultaneously, even though as they fed from opposite sides, they could have. For those who like carbs: https://www.theguardian.com/food/2023/jan/09/carb-heaven-21-loaded-fries-recipes-to-try-at-home-from-kimchi-to-spicy-sausage - I suspect it'll be a 'marmite' article but if your system can cope with such dishes, it could be worth a scan. I actually know them as 'dirty' fries rather than loaded. I recall the Walrus by its service nickname (Shagbat) though I also remember being told some knew it as the flying kettle (water splashing on hot engine cowlings). Kits of it were one of the more popular plastic kit sales in the days when I was in the model shop. No idea why and I forget which manufacturer it was, probably Airfix or Revell. The best seller was the Wallace and Gromit van. The 'medieval lifeboat' was another good seller though the supplier is unlikely to be popular with anyone in this country these days. One parcel is due to be collected shortly so I'd better go and stand by.

Hall Radiator drained and off the wall rather easily, along with the wall brackets; I left it outside on the front path and about an hour later heard the sound of a distinctive bell - so I shot outside to make sure the Fairies didn't miss it. Once upon a time they used to give people the opportunity to get stuff out to them - now it seems that if it isn't already outside in plain view it'll get left behind; I can also just about remember when the Fairies used to arrive on a horse n' cart - long gone now though, sadly. Right, din dins first then ponder the pipework changes required before I can box in the existing pipework; I've currently got some of the new "nasty" paint stripper (similar to the old Nitromors - very fast acting) on small areas of the pipework where I'll need to fit compression joints.
