Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Sad news about John but I can’t say I knew him other than as a poster on here but they all count. Not much of a day here. Despite SWMBO declaring at the beginning of the month no outside lights or Christmas decorations, we’ve spent most of the afternoon setting them up. I wouldn’t have minded if we’d done it at the beginning of December but by the time the flatulence from the Christmas Day’s sprouts has subsided it’ll be time to take them down again. Few brownie points earned and I had a very small amount of hobby time in the shed. Nephews and Sydney here for sleepover so I’ve been banished to the spare bedroom. Not bothered, much quieter here. Not much else to say so goodnight, Robert Sorry, belated birthday wishes to BR60103 Edited December 21, 2022 by Erichill16 Punctuation 1

Popular Post pH
Snow can look nice, as long as you’re not having to shovel it. RMweb Premium Popular Post zarniwhoop Posted December 22, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 22, 2022 After being extremely discombobulated by the jams in the supermarket car parks, the absence of most of what I was looking for, and the queues, I've now got most of the food and drink I want. Ideally I would take an extended break and not go out again until several days into January, but still need a few things, and will have to collect a prescription whenever it is ready. I used to put up a "tree" with fibre-optic lighting and a revolving colour wheel in its base (to change the light colour), but that packed up last year - it was only 28 years old, sob - and I can't be bothered to do much. Somewhere I've got strings of white or whiteish LEDs, but I cannot find those so might have to make do with traditional multicoloured LEDS. But on the bright side I've got my Arras sufficiently in gear to have another go at making Stollen. I found a recipe in 1993 and used to make one for myself (and my parents when they were alive) and one to take to work. But I'd got out of the habit (tended to have too much carbs now there is only me). This year I've taken advantage of t'internet (didn't have that in '93) to review variations on Stollen. Baking once the oven is heated (Economy 7). After that I need to refresh my sourdough so I can make a (small) bread with nuts in it and an attempt at fougasse, then I'll be sorted. Already got a large amount of sprouts and some root vegetables for roasting, plus some cheeses including a local sheep's blue cheese. Will probably have to cook some beans (not baked on this occasion), but starting to look forward to the eating as well as the drinking. For those celebrating Yule, Happy Yule, and for everyone else have a happy time whatever you celebrate. ĸen 21

LOL, found one set after posting this - not the stupidly long white set, and not actually white (or magnolia ?) - alternate pale orange and mauve, they slowly all light up then slowly go out. That's my decorations sorted for this year. 😊 17

Our forecast overnight low is for -8°C which, while not unusual for the frozen tundra, is exceptionally cold for our weather which is usually moderated by the proximity of the Pacific Ocean. Tomorrow afternoon we are to expect some snow, (not accumulating a lot) followed by sleet and freezing rain (accumulating around 12mm) into Friday. I don't plan to venture out on Friday. Freezing rain is nasty stuff. I'm not sure that I want to attempt my daily walk on Thursday. It should be dry early and while I'm happy to walk in freezing temperatures, I'm less confident of substantially sub-freezing temperatures. Fortunately by Saturday the rain is supposed to be of the normal 'wet' kind and should melt all the horribleness .in time for Christmas. 8 1

Herself and Dr Eldest Herbert are off to moreasons.. a supermarket chain which has really lost the plot(so the Americans who bought it borrowed more than what it was worth. This, to my mind , is very sharp practice but the UK Financiers think its a good idea (same thing happened at Sunderland)as the city hi flyers make money by doing slotall. No external lights have been installed as usual. Club night last night was a jolly affair even though it was a tad chilly. We had about 15 people attend and a box of celebrations was opened.. along with some home made santa shaped biscuits. Today I am off to the Marie Celeste to talk about results and medications. Hopefully my continuing weight loss will be seen as being positive, my hb1ac needs to head a bit lower.. we shall see. We havenheard from @Robert , @Kelly or @Natalie for a while .. hopefully they are all well. Sad to hear about Johndmj..losing any ER is not good.. we seem to have lost a few this year. Tempus fugit unfortunately?. Time to.. drink my tea and set off drivelling elsewhere. Stay safe! Baz 13 3

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted December 22, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 22, 2022 Morning, from a dark and damp rock where the rain is vertical for once. 7c, not likely to see much more. After yesterday's rushing about everywhere, today is a me-day, but I just might have a lazy-ar$e one as I didn't have a good night. Music and reading I think, a walk if it stops raining as fore-guessed later by the seaweed twirlers. Was in Marksies last evening. just for odds and ends really before we went to the deep south to collect Jayne from the airport, and eyes descended upon a turkey crown. Yummy thought I, might treat us to that, quickly followed by some naval language as I saw the price....£92! Really? That's more than half a Deltic (an ER unit of currency, 100 LDC's to a Deltic). Left it on the shelf, unsurprisingly. 6

I’ll tell you about it on the 14th He did tell me some years ago. What a year its been, apart from the ER's no longer with us there have been quite a few other relatives and friends of our parents that are no longer with us plus a very long time friend and modeller (whos not on the forum) that is going through chemo. I keep in touch with him most days. Today I have a rearranged trip to the doctors as the telephone appointment call a few days ago was an hour late and then the mobile only rang twice but they had gone before I could answer it despite the phone being right by me for well over an hour. I still need to arrange travel insurance but have been waiting to see if they change my blood pressure tablets as it been a little higher than they want it to be. Also to take Mum shopping afterwards as she no longer drives. Tomorrow is the return of what was our regular 'Xmas Eve' pub crawl but is happening a day earlier due to our travel plans. Unfortunately its a much smaller group than it used to be. Some of us are starting with breakfast in Spoons in Horley then moving to Haywards Heath for opening time.

Now that is most definitely on the very strange side of weird. They had a similar case at Stevenage Hospital maybe 4 or 5 years ago (a buddy's Daughter was a nurse there and the story went round amongst the staff) - it seems some Guy and his Missus had been "experimenting"; I forget what the item was now, but it took Surgeons to get it out. 43 minutes ago, New Haven Neil said: Was in Marksies last evening. just for odds and ends really before we went to the deep south to collect Jayne from the airport, and eyes descended upon a turkey crown. When Bear isn't scoffin' designer Pizza on Chrimbo Day it's Sausages instead - and I never feel like I'm missing out. Sure is (a) a hell of a lot cheaper, and (b) a lot less aggro too. Bear here..... Definitely no H/S/L today - instead the fun consists of a load of Washing and most definitely the last visit to the Co-op before Chrimbo. After that it's MIUABGAD - which may well include changing email addresses with numerous organisations that matter; one of my existing addresses (which was until recently the "primary" one) is tied to the Internet Provider, making changing provider awkward - so some months back I decided to start swapping across to another that isn't tied so I could have an easy way out, thus making changing provider to a cheaper/better deal a lot easier. Rumour has it that my particular ISP allows you to keep your email address even if you leave just by paying a quid(?) a month, though in the past I have had their own Customer Support Staff tell me I can't do that, no doubt in an attempt to stop me leaving. Isn't it about time that keeping your old email addresses (as you can do with mobile phone numbers) when you change provider a Law? Yep, Rant. Bear Gone. edit: Oh yes, it seems as though a rather forgetful Bear has somehow managed to send a certain Puppers @PupCam not one but TWO Chrimbo cards this year 🤪. Piggin' Turdycurses. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted December 22, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 22, 2022 Good morning all, Misty here earlier and it's still very dull. A cloudy damp day expected, mainly overcast with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Currently 6°C, might reach 11°C. Yesterday's shopping trip was successful and we got all that we went for and more. (mainly due to me adding stuff back up beverages for emergencies to the trolley 😀) Just need tomorrow's delivery of fresh stuff to complete the stocking up and we will have enough here to withstand a siege. Guest bedrooms have now been passed fit for habitation by Her Bossness's Inspectorate of Cleanliness and Tidiness so that must be a Good Thing. I believe that today and tomorrow (and for the rest of my life probably) we will be attacking the rest of GDB Towers. A Shark Wielder's work is never done. Tea was taken to Herself earlier so Perks GDB must be about it. Have a good 'un. Bob. 18
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 22, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 22, 2022 Mooring Awl, Sleep what's that? Very late before eyes closed due to coughing attacks, in the end I headed down stair to save waking SWMBO every few minutes. Then Ben asked to go out, unusual at that time of night, we'd didn't quite make the back door, when he was sick, luckily on the door mat, he went out, followed by the mat. 4 more times he asked to go out, no accidents on the way. He's a very sorry for himself Collie this morning. Not leaping up to greet SWMBO as he normally would. This would occur on a day I'm going to be busy. Bank, Orange shed, section Christmas dinner, Tes and Co on the way back. Just been on a slow patrol with Ben no enthusiasm from him.. he's now asleep in his pit. Strange.... male presenter of breakfast TV is wearing all black, suit and tie, Carol (weather) is wearing all black, Naga, is wearing something fairly dark. Last time that happened was in the hours before the Queen Died. An hour before I set out on the days works... Time for a quick nap.

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 22, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 22, 2022 Good moaning from a grey and overcast Charente. A good afternoon watching trains and putting the world to rights was had yesterday. Today it's down to earth with a bang as it's ironing day. Beth has gone out for the morning and lunch so I will at least be able to have my music on loud. I might also have curried eggs for lunch as well. There's always a silver lining. I posted a picture on JOHN DMJ's obit thread. It's a crop from another larger one but I think has come out rather well. As to the post above from ian (Roundhouse) I was reflecting last night on who I've lost from my circle of friends. In the past 3 months I've lost two former work colleagues, a former landlord and friend as well as two ER's. As luck would have it i have had photos of all of them that I have been able to send to the various people involved. 3 of the photos were from the mid 70's. Ones that I scanned in the early days of lockdown. I wonder how many others I will need to send in due course. They have all been well received. Anyway it's nw time to get on with the ironing. Regards to all and of course Sundry. Jamie
