Din dins done, so now it'll be MIUABGA - paperwork and also backing up the laptop to various external drives for safety in case it should decide to die unexpectedly. That's the plan, anyway. 6 6
Popular Post andyram
Afternoon all. A quick check in from a grey and wet Matlock Bath before I close up for the day. An early finish on account of Amber being called up for the girl's football team at school. It is an away game so I will be on taxi duty as well as getting to watch. I am sure that the early closure will not miss many customers at this time of year - much of my trade will be electronic at present. I hope you are all well. I am still feeling quite run down after the Covid but things are slowly improving. 1
Popular Post Ian Abel
POETS, we'll give it a go probably. Yesterday, enjoyable Zoom with some friends, work and then off to choir rehearsal. Went long as we had a schola rehearsal immediately following. Managed a happy hour pre-choir then done. Seem to have had a sore throat the last couple of days, no other symptoms, lurgy test negative (precaution due to choir gathering). Nuisance more than anything. -9C first thing with a high overcast. -5C the expected high, no precipitation forecast for the next few days, just blQQdy cold. 🤪 Carry on.
RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted November 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) ' afternoon all from red dragon land. A wet and dry day. 8°C. Family calendar taken up some of my time, today, along with the new twiddly bits on the flute - making progress in both areas. Warning! Scarcity issue. Eggs were obtained from a local farm so the seasonal Cake will be made earlier this year - this weekend. Hopefully, the farm will have some eggs in 2-3 weeks time as well. I like to do the Icing 23-24 Dec and save the yolks for the Turkey stuffing. Time to put the light on and have a mugadecaf. Keep safe, be good, be a step ahead. RMweb Premium southern42 Posted November 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) Road travel A long time ago...we used to visit our parents, diagonally down via a chippy in Kidderminster to west of London. On a good day, it would take 7 1/4 hours. As bypasses became the fashion, the time decreased by +/-2 hours. As the M54 came into being to Telford, we went via the M6. Fine for a bit but the last time we took the M6, we spent the 2 hour saving stuck on the motorway! Now we contemplate the Toll Road. Now, I really must go and put the light on, etc... I use it every time for M40/M42 to M6 or A38 (but not vice-versa in the latter case; in the southbound direction the A446 from Bassetts Pole gives a clear run to the M42, though there's usually a long tail-back northbound). But M54 to / from the M6 Toll is a bit awkward. 8 1 1 2

I thought I was bad t with the M1/M6 but I'm nothing, I will add the M25/M11 only when they were moving of course, compared to that lot. The 1988-96 period was about 40,000 a year... Just for work. Went to get foam from shed for future project to find I'd already cut it up for something else... Ooops 1, I'll have to get another sheet. Replaced jackplug on spinny thing, was testing it and the magic smoke escaped...ooops 2, yep from the jack plug.. much research later.. find out 1/4 jack plugs ain't like they used to be, many are now just 1A 12V rated gone are the days of them being bullet proof.. After a shopping expedition to tes and co for the stuff I forgot on the way home yesterday ooops 3. I've temporarily rewired the foot switch directly, it runs ok, then I tried the bobbin brake.. it brakes but slows the flyer as well. I think it's pushing the bobbin shaft against the flyer shaft tube it runs in. It needs more braking and less pushing. I'm now stuck for the moment while I think of a solution. In days gone by I can remember trailing through Norwich, Newmarket , Cambridge, Bedford ,Bletchley Swindon and on to Weston super mud. Not a dual carriageway in sight. Now it's all bypassed, or in Bletchleys case dual carriageways and many roundabouts. The journey time taken is probably well under half what it was.... 5 1 1

The Lurker
I remember one family holiday, travelling from Kent to Broadhaven. It was long before the M25 (in fact it was the glorious summer of 76). My sister and I were got up very early and we travelled in our jim jams. Breakfast was at my Dad's Aunt in Cwmbran. (so probably 4 hours travelling as it took forever before we found any motorway). The rest of the day was taken getting to Broadhaven. My Dad forgot his razor blades so he grew a beard! It also started to finally rain while were down there so south Wales was much greener on the way back! 16

Given its location I'd have said Spotted Python - its illegal to import or keep non-native snakes , so I'm assuming it'd have to be a wild Aussie one. (tis also illegal to keep pretty much any native wildlife, except under license and with specimens that have been captive bred). RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted November 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2022 Cheerio all. Frellin‘ell, has it been cold today… Snow actually started to appear in the air by about 1500 hours, and the weekend forecast is now hovering around freezing. I brought an assortment of various sausages back from Erfurt as I’d noticed a butcher’s just near the station when I arrived. I’m all for supporting independent bakeries and butchers when I can, because to my mind, it’s the right thing to do. Do keep warm tonight! 19
