RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted October 12, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 12, 2022 Good moaning from the Charente. Just starting to get light here. Muggacoffee being drunk. The modelling mojo appears to still be around and sone more soldering was done yesterday. Today I will probably be taking the lawn tractor apart to get the front axle off so that it can be welded up. The grass hasn't been cut since June and is only just starting to regrow. A cot bed has to be dismantled and will head to a charity tomorrow. Then I need to move a proper single bed into Emily's room. The young lady is growing up. This afternoon whilst Beth is out bowling I plan to make a Lasagne. I might even fettle some more small bits of brass. Happy days. Jamie 21
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted October 12, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) Good morning all, Still darkish but getting lighter and it's dry. Sunny spells expected this morning but will become cloudy later. Quiet sort of day yesterday but it was enlivened for a while with a rather shall we say "annoyed" GDB calling our energy supplier as I've only just noticed that they haven't charged us for the gas we've used for the past few months. Bit careless of me not spotting that and I'm annoyed with myself as well but luckily we haven't used much through the summer however it will reduce my credit balance. Now waiting for them to adjust things and will then have to check they charge me the correct rate and not the increased rate. I too had a haircut yesterday done by Herself and it's quite noticeable how much insulation about 5mm of hair provides! 😀 This morning I have an appointment with the optician. This is rather overdue (my fault) so I'm expecting to be chastised and TBH am a little concerned about my sight. Time to take tea to The Boss. Have a good one, Bob. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted October 12, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 12, 2022 Breakfast munched, now have to raise enthusiasm for a trip into Ramsey to pay bills, get watch fixed, etc. I had my flu jab on Friday, no reaction whatsoever. I suspect this means it didn't work. Covid jab tomorrow, the bivalent one this time. I have to go all the way to the Big City for that, as planners here have our version of London-centric mindset, Douglas-centric. To get there, I have to drive past the Cottage Hospital, the GP Practice and the Old Ramsey Courthouse where the flu jabs were done, 4 miles each way. Douglas is 22 miles each way. Planning? No, none in evidence.

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted October 12, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) This particular resistor set is used to calibrate calibrators, very expensive calibrators, current list is about £90,000 each. Those have been sold to people like NASA, USA and UK armed forces, UK National air services that's the Civi radar and air comms provider, TGV Alstom (or what ever they are called today) various airlines, car manufacturers and companies that service their equipment.. They are also used by companies to calibrate lesser calibration equipment .. Those sold in the UK and Europe come back here to be calibrated. We also use them ourselves and have these calibrators in our equipment, so we can calibrate the 8.5 digit multimeter made here, those are £27,000 each!!! These DMMS are also sold to the above and more. Older DMMS I know are used by the Atomic Weapons Authority.. They'll probably by some new ones soon if they haven't already.. There is a long chain of cal systems from the National Physical Laboratory to us, to lesser cal houses like RS (radio spares), and further down the line, So the measurements of Volts Amps Current Resistance done by NPL, then me / this lab are passed down to everything electronic, each step losing a level of accuracy. I also use the master resistances here to calibrate some high end thermometers used by Intel and other chip and hard drive manufacturers. lesser labs will use them to calibrate the NHS temperature machines or I cal them as masters for our temp lab which does very accurate temperature sensors, for the above, for shipping covid vaccines round the world at the right temperature, down to the handhelds used by Tescos on the meat counter.. I've also cal'd these temperature equipments for various National Calibration labs around the world. Basically if it's electronic, then somewhere up the line, this company will be in there somewhere, providing test equipment for calibration, this is just one small cal lab of their's of several round the world. Nope. Once the plan has been hatched and the ball started rolling, any doctor, anywhere would deliver the fatal blow (so to speak) just by doing his/her job properly and following the guidelines for treating any patient with "X" Y'know - in terms of dastardly cunning yet fiendish simplicity, the two step process is such a beauty - even Captain Cynical has to step back and whistle in admiration.... 10

Ironically enough given we're talking about colds, you could call it Snottingham and be right, though a little out of date. The original name for this place (about a thousand years ago) was from a farm/estate of a man called 'Snot'. - Snotengaham.
