Morning, from a rock where it is once again windy.  Dry currently but looking at the raindar not likely to remain that way.  A mere 14C, disappointing.

 

The day thus bring some muddeling, once a little domestic comestible acquisition has been dealt with.

 

Wombledon ball-batting doesn't much excite me either, although perusal of the female form of some competitors does provide some optical pleasure.

Good moaning from the Charente.  We also had our evening disrupted by events in SW19 and eventually found Sherwood on BBC2 but missed the first couple of minutes.   Anyway the checklist had some more items crossed off and only 2 added.  Today is supermarket day, then out with the lawn tractor and chop weeds day.

 

I did achieve a minor miracle and a largish are of the shed floor has been cleared and swept.  You can even drive a car up the side of the layout.  This will make putting the trailer away a lot easier.  I even managed to mend the leaking cistern but had to buy a new flush mechanism.  Not a bad day in all.

Breakfast chef here. Final breakfast for our visitor to cook, followed by his departure back darn sarf and our departure to Haywood Cc for an Over 60s match.

 

Busy times in chez baz as we have to do extra washing,  cleaning and general domestics tomorrow. Pah!

I set the telescope at a spot of sky complete with a reasonably bright star, fired up the auto shutter release and took a good number of exposures of the same view ready for stacking.   It's too late to do that now but when I just had a quick look at the source material I note that yet another satellite has photo-bombed the scene!    Ah, pesky satellites 🤣.      Anyway, a good number of the images look pretty good so hopefully I'll get something half decent out of them.    I certainly seem to be getting more consistent results so I must be getting a bit better at this lark.

Good morning all,

Sunshine and blue skies are here and so am I. A dry and breezy day is forecast with the chance of some rain tonight.

The Hand seems to be behaving itself but the fact that I'm rather limited in what I can do at the moment is a little bit frustrating however I must be a patient patient and wait for things to take their course.  (When this was mentioned to The Boss there were comments along the lines of "Patient?  PATIENT?  YOU?  You must be joking!"   Bit harsh I thought.

Usual sort of day will see me having some breakfast, going for a walk, surfing the net and awaiting delivery of a case of wine. 

Still haven't visited The Shed since the op although I keep saying I will.  Maybe today.

Hospital appointment at 10 also prescriptions to collect so it's a bit of a rush about.

I'm not a tennis lover to start with but i cant stand Wimbledon I think it's a load of carp the whole damn thing the hype the coverage everything.

The annual Wombletown grunting festival does nothing for me.
 

It overlaps with the Hampton Court Hayfever Festival which also holds little interest. 
 

As I am on leave I shall be unable to make use the the enquiry I have employed before.  To the surprise of a colleague within earshot and when approached by a woman of mature years with a question clearly forming on her lips I boldly asked “Blooms or balls, madam?”  
 

It’s a good thing I can read faces reliably. She creased with laughter. She was off to the ball-bouncing festival as it turned out. 
 

I shall avoid the area like the plague. Both areas in fact. Departing London for the south by road is usually done via Hampton Court bridge but not next week. An alternative shall be found.

Good morning everyone 

 

It seems I wasn’t the only one p!ssed off with the BBC last night then, thankfully we caught up with Sherwood on iplayer before we went to bed. This morning I had a 9 o’clock appointment with the dental hygienist, so it was straight out once I’d got out of bed and got dressed, so I’ve only just finished my breakfast. This is the only occasion when I leave the house without having eaten breakfast first. As for the rest of the day, the weather is looking decidedly dodgy, so I think I’ll give the garden a miss and spend the day in the workshop, I’ll see if I can find enough bits to cobble together a prototype for my delay circuit. If it works, I’ll place an order for the MERG kits and modify those, as I definitely don’t have enough bits to make 14 of them. 

 

Before I go, thank you all for the positive comments on the art work I posted yesterday.

4 hours, long break, 1 hour, short break 1.5 hours sleep...

 

All blue skies again this morning but soggy grass and the odd puddle on the road Indicates we had over night rain..

Disney time again this morning, rabbits, deer, squirrels, lots of birds .. 

 

Having read through various articles about DIY e Spinners, they are not generally happy with the motor size used on commercial spinners, as is usual things are built down to a price, so the motors they are are "just capable" of the job..

So I'm planning to use some recommended upgraded parts.. which of course means higher cost. That prevents electric smoke escaping and irritable smoke from SWMBO..

 

So therefore I've been very busy wading through electric motors, power supplies , controllers , bearings , pully wheels , Scotch brakes, foot switches, all for this E spinner..

it has however Not reached the price of something mainline on parallel bits of metal.

 

The automatic calibration bit was OK over night, just Ohms to finish on this one..

Time to measure..

When it comes to drawing and painting, I have all the artistic ability of ... hmm ... probably a two year old. On a bad day, possibly even a two year old Dachshund? 😉

Some of his work has been an inspiration for my modelling. Thank you for your kind interest. It was completed after 30 days of 30 minute sessions sitting on a tree root and a few sessions working from photos when the weather was dank. I then dressed it up for an 8"x6" card and had some printed off for Christmas on a Photo website for family and a few neighbours, and the farmer, I met on the way who showed their support. The whole process 21 September - 2 December 2021.

My tools: ruler for drawing the load bearing section of the swing's cable; eraser for rubbing out or smoothing/blending pencil lines; pencil sharpener; a one-sided lined notebook left over from a goodie bag from a training course; shoe laces tied round the notebook and home-made cardboard corner protectors to keep the paper flat and the corners down - the oil-based pencils buckled the paper where used heavily and the corners started to curl up; a large used brown envelope to carry the stuff to and from the log swing; and these pencils:

  

 

👩‍🎨 The whole thing was quite bizarre since I rarely do this sort of thing and more interestingly, I collected a small amount of blackberries most days on the way home meaning we are still having blackberry (from the freezer) and apple crumble and custard - not everyday though!  👩‍🍳

Well I suppose that's quite good really, I can get an early night.  See point 1 ....

 

I've had a quick go at processing last nights photographs, I got 70 that were worth stacking.    Thank heavens for the Arduino powered magic shutter release!

 

Anyway, this is the result.   The field of view of the scope in this form is ~0.75 degrees and just to put that in context, the full moon disc subtends an angle of about 0.5 degrees from earth so the area of the photograph is "a moon diameter plus a bit".      I think you can spot the star I focused on (i.e. the one I could see) , unfortunately the satellite trail gets removed by the stacking process 😀

Morning all.

I was going to switch on the television and watch the England v South Africa Test Match from Taunton this morning. I saw quite a bit yesterday. However I have volunteered to cut the grass so that Aditi can do something skilled with her secateurs. I did clean the car yesterday. The cleaning stuff instructions mentioned “do not apply in sunlight”. It was quite dull, until I had covered the car in foam and it became sunny again. Seems ok though.

It persisteth down, as predicted.  And some.  We do need it though, it has been very dry despite not being that warm, and we have never seen the archery glen so dry.  It is usually a very gooey place, but several streams have dried up completely, and the main one is nobbut a trickle, usually a foot deep or so at this time of year - or three feet in winter.  Don't ask.....

 

Debating now if I can be bothered to wash down the kitchen floor and polish it.  No is the answer, but I better had if I don't want my head in my hands later!

Aditi wasn’t too pleased about the kitchen floor getting washed last night. She dropped a tray with two large glasses of water. I heard a word that would get censored by this forum software. This is unusual as Aditi rarely uses such words. Anyway, I dried the floor. The glasses didn’t break which was good.

Ah, funnily enough the task is due to a pan of fried onions shuffling off the hob last night - looked like poltergeists in action at first, but was caused by the one next to it bubbling away.  Took us a while to work it out and replicate it, the ridged bottom of the pan acts as a ratchet on the rest when the pan next to it is gently vibrating when boiling.  The binned ridged bottom pan I should say!  This 'made a mess' to coin a phrase, and the words uttered were probably much worse than those Aditi used!
