I was unable to find any information on the company's webpage. But as you can see in the images in the attached website page (https://tenacontrols.com/product/model-airplane-lighting-kit/  it probably wouldn't weigh more than 100 - 150gm and the size would, I guess, be in a package about 16cm (L) x 10cm (W) x 4cm - although it would probably fit in a padded envelope. How much would USPS charge for a package that size/weight (I would assume that UPS etc. would charge an arm and a leg...)?

Morning all from Estuary-Land. @simontaylor484 Congratulations to Kieran for his Eighteenth tomorrow. Its hard to believe how quickly the kids do grow up. My friends young lad is now a strapping fourteen year old as tall as his dad and still growing, no surprise there given the amount of food he manages to put away. When he was younger he was a bit small for his age (about eight). Best wishes to @grandad bob, hope the op goes well.

I looked up bug hotels on the net and got a few more ideas about what can be used for them.

I knew there was something I was supposed to do.... but I just couldn't put my finger on it.... My own fault, really, I didn't make a handy note to remind me to wish you good luck GDB (face-palm! 🤦). I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good result. You will, I trust, gives us the thumbs-up when you're back home.

 

I am surprised to learn that it'll be under general anesthesia (a recent, minor, hand surgery I had involved only a nerve block and a local), on the other hand, if you are squeamish it might be for the best. Let's hope that the surgeon isn't all-thumbs today.....

 

(Yes, yes, I know I should get a slap on the wrist for my bad punning. But I don't care [gives everyone the finger])

Not squeamish at all Flávio but surgeon says general anaesthetic necessary for Dupuytren’s Fasciectomy however he doesn’t think it’ll come to amputation…with a bit of luck and a following wind! 🤪

 Good afternoon.  It's raining again.  Here the preparations for to vist ofvEmily and he mums in 8 days time, are assumi g the trappings of a royal vist.  A check list of jobs for me, but not for the boss has been issued.  All we need is an operational  order.  Having once been in charge of such a visit, (Charley boy), I speak from experience.   Several tasks have been crossed off.  I am now fighting a reargaurd a tion to stop the list from growing. I just hope that when I am returning from the airport with the principal, that the main conversation  will not be, how she manages to have a no 2 and keep her dignity.  At least she has one thing in common with Charley, someone else has to flush the loo.  Don't ask how I know.

The DDSF  (Double Dachshund Security Force ) has successfully been deployed to patrol the back garden together for the first time. Both had a good run about and are having a good drink now back inside. Pebbles is now attacking a squeaky dog toy, Rolo is laid on the floor watching with interest

Another day went by and I brought still more things back from the flat. I took some paintings and needlework from where Mum had stored them in her garage to put on the walls in the flat, replacing the pictures I had brought home to put up in my house.  Then I found a few more I liked, so brought those home as well.  After that I had a look at her duvets, throws, travelling rugs and other essentials and decided which are better than mine, so a few more came home.

 

I was back home in time for a shower to wash off the dust and a have nice leisurely mug (or two) of strong black coffee with chocolate biscuits.

 

Much of the afternoon was spent having a walk along the cliff path a few miles from home, watching the fulmars, gulls and terns and observing the fishing boats and yachts just offshore.  I didn't walk too far but spent about an hour enjoying the view and the sense that time no longer matters, I don't have to be anywhere at a specific time.

 

When I got home I had a very odd phone call from the estate agent I am not using to sell the flat saying they had a buyer.  When I rang my agent they told me which agent had rung me before I had a chance to tell them - apparently it's a marketing ploy and there usually isn't a buyer.

 

Mum's bank have released the money in her accounts and have transferred it to one of my accounts, I have now moved it into my savings account.  So that is one job completed - and the amount was exactly what I had calculated.  A definite win!

 

Yesterday evening I had a long think about what I am doing and decided that I really do want to stay in my house and not move into the flat.  The problem is it is a nice flat, but it isn't really what I want at this time while I am still healthy and reasonably fit - after all I'm only 72, Mum was 78 when she and Dad moved.  Dad was 76 but in poor health.  I also decided that I really must have a good clear out my "stuff" - am I really going to tread all my books again, and do I need all the things I keep for other hobbies?

 

So slimming down my things will be the next "project".

Speaking of which a challenging week has been completed at the House of Fun.  Circumstances which ERs will be well aware of required me to be up and out much earlier than usual and aboard an all-night bus at 04.40 to get me where required by the scheduled time.  The week has not been without its moments by any means, including the "wrong sort of use for a bridge" and not fifteen minutes before I left some c🤬🤬tpuffin swinging a two-metre length of wood in the direction of a train guard whilst shouting obscenities and racially-abusing names.   No-one should have to put up with that sort of behaviour as part of a day's work.  The disbelieving looks and frustrated comments of a few folk who seemed unaware of the week's events - including the one who broke down in tears which then became a full-on panic attack due to being late for work - also made things harder than they might have been.  

 

In other news Miss Management is leaving for pastures new.  I was introduced to her replacement.  Time will tell whether anything changes.  

 

Now it is time to hang up the tie and wash the shirt.  I am on two weeks summer leave with a few days away in Somerset planned along with some days out.  Dr. SWMBO got wind of my leave dates and has booked hers to match 🤣 but I'm sure there will be some quality "me-time" involved!!!  

 

For now it's an afternoon bevvy on The Terrace to be followed later by dinner at a local House of Falling-Down Waters.  The sky threatens to make watering the gardens superfluous but we'll see.

It has now gone very black (outside, not my mood, that was earlier in the week) and the rain is rattling away on our roof. No thunder yet, though the seaweed oracles have decreed it will rumble this afternoon. The DDSF and anyone in flannels may find their spirits and clothing being dampened a smidgen. (BTW, belated congrats to Baz re their anniversary). 

 

I have been lurking a bit for much of the week. Sometimes when the mood is low, I don't trust myself to post as I fear there's a high chance I'll regret what's said. It's a bit of a battle at the moment, there have been some signs of things getting better but there's still quite a bit of frustration and anxiety to be touch-kicked out of play before I'll be truly happy again. 

 

Some surplus unmentionables were moved on earlier this week, creating a little more space. The loft clearance/tidy continues, with many family memories being unearthed. However, it can make one realise just how unreliable blood can be. Both here and on the Night Mail I've heard recently about families being ... unhelpful ... and here, just as much as anywhere else, aged relatives' deaths or the prospect of those, seem to provoke particularly distasteful behaviour. An experienced solicitor once said, when discussing the law of succession (wills/probate) with us, he had found more moral turpitude in that than he ever did in criminal law. Sadly, nothing I've experienced lately is going to challenge that. (One reason for being a bit grumpy earlier in the week). 

 

Making an effort to cheer up, a fair night's sleep was had, despite the heat, so a walk up the hill was had. Pleasantries exchanged with a few dogs, dirty looks exchanged with more sheep. Various seedlings potted on, with an eye to next year's display. I don't know how long I'll be here but I'll work on being around a little longer, if only to see the results of my labours. 

 

The sparrows are still around; they seem to be hanging around longer than previous years. It could be they find the garden useful for food and drink, not to mention bathing, though we've always tried to keep things wildlife friendly and haven't had any radical changes since last year. The blackbird is now encouraging this year's offspring to raid the redcurrant bush. No need for napkins but tidier eating would be appreciated - they drop five berries for every one consumed and once on the ground, they don't want them. 

 

The rain has now increased in tempo and I can barely hear myself think drivel, so will leave it there...

If the total cost of postage and packing is too much why not assemble your own module. Ready wired SMD leds in appropriate colours and even flashing ones are fairly easily available here (and cheap) not sure about CH of course but if you are happy to order from Chinese eBay vendors there are loads. From the main supplier in the UK the leds are in 5 packs but then you could do an entire fleet of business jets or add lights to some,of your trains too,

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Still planning the bug hotel, I have revised my plans following a read of this

USPS charge for a package under 1lb. to Switzerland is around $18. That's a standard shipping rate, no tracking but I don't think tracking adds much. The dimensions/weight put it in the lowest rate category.

Given that, as I suspected (same for MANY eBay and other suppliers here when I order stuff), they're padding the "packaging/handling" charge to make more money ☹️

Quiet again yesterday.

The weekend holds some small adventures.

Friday evening kicking off with a baseball game - the Mrs and Meagans mum are fans and Meagan got tickets for everyone to attend tonight's game for the Mums day gift.

 

Saturday, unplanned (YA RIGHT!!) but some to-do items and general relaxing. maybe a happy hour.

 

Sunday the Mrs birthday AND Otis (one of Trevor and Meagans dogs) also. We're headed to their house for a birthday celebration/dinner.

 

Weather, 20 first thing, sunny slight chance or a shower (205 meaning probably not), 32 expected high at around game time!
