RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 14, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 14, 2022 Morning all from Estuary-Land. The wall bracket holding the shower head broke this morning so I will have to get a new one. I doubt very much that I will find one with identical screw fixing holes so that means I will have to drill new holes through the tiles . 1 hour ago, NGT6 1315 said: Ah, the unintentional duplicate post gremlin has struck again. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted March 14, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 14, 2022 Morning, at the third time of clicking - site was dire earlier. I was going to say I don't feel a day over 63, but it would be a lie, maybe 83. Still, it's dry out (not for long - just looked at the radar) and 10c so not too bad. The day will be washing, as usual on a Moanday. Maybe a walk after the rain has passed and the joints ease up. A few years ago a good friend here went to Crufts to to the obedience competition with her collie - the collie has trained her well - and they came 4th, pretty impressive. It was only afterwards the judges noticed the dog only had one eye, and wondered why Helen hadn't competed the dog in the disabled classes. It was very much a point of honour NOT to have done so! I have an Arcam Alpha CD player, my Musical Fidelity A100 amp let the magic smoke out after many years so now just a Denon and a Kenwood mega oomph (but old) AV amp for movies. A Musical Fidelity T1 tuner still gives very good service, a (second - first one got damaged in a household accident) Thorens record deck, but just a 280 this time with a Linn tonearm, my Dunlop Systemdek also didn't survive the move here when finally exhumed from boxes years later, the motor had died and they are NLA. Cassettes? Don't darken my portals with the spawn of the devil..... and a Sony Walkman NWZ-F886 for portable sounds and in the garage through another Denon amp. Nice little toy, getting old now. Streaming is for rivers.

RMWeb not working at all well again for me lately, good job I haven't paid for it then! Not a great deal to report from Puppershire although it's a nice day today so I could be tempted by a chug on the AJ! I did try gettin on here earlier but as said above, things were dire. I could get on other threads but not ER's on either tablet or laptop. Anyway I'm here now. A successful time was had in the shed yesterday after oon and some bits that orocess electrickery seem to work.. this morning I've reinstalled the small distribution box in the new pool shed. Nothing went bang when I powered it up. As it's sunny there may be some grass cutting this afternoon. As Phil said I hope that we hear good news from @Kelly. regards to all. jamie 18 1
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted March 14, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 14, 2022 Well that 10c is now '6 feels like 2', and it does - just got the firewood in before it rained, not very nice out there at all. Spent an hour scanning an old photo of what is now Debs' office, or at least the original building - it was on the verge of collapse so a new one was built in its place, still looks OK though. Can't post the cleaned up photo here, awls may be watching, it has those electrickery things that run on parallel steel bars on it. The guys she works with are mostly newish here and don't recall the old building so wanted this for the office.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted March 14, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 14, 2022 Ah. Good. The desktop allows me in. Eventually. Still no service via the phone. A good Spring day Upon the Hill of Strawberries followed a brisk start at the House of Fun with the sun having risen for the first time this season before I started work. It has been a most uncommonly dry and mild winter and the first in this job when I have neither had to shovel snow off the platforms nor lay "Procoat" which is the gritty salty substance we use to prevent slipping in frosty / icy conditions. I guess we'll have the hosepipe ban next, then Dr. SWMBO has the day off today and has taken herself into the Tate Britain for entertainment. That's a good step forward for her as it required use of a train more or less in the morning peak and travelling without me for support. She would have passed very close by as I was working on the platform adjacent to that used by her train a half-hour later. I'll find out later if she saw or heard me This afternoon could be busy. I have two deliveries coming and a person to threaten the fridge and sloshing machine with a tool-kit. the former is freezing stuff when it shouldn't and the latter isn't cleaning stuff when it should. I might grab forty winks between now and then 19 1
Popular Post simontaylor484
Good Afternoon all Lovely morning and into the afternoon. I agree about crufts I wouldn't watch it. There is a certain Dachshund sat near my feet that should win it but i am thoroughly biased of course. The yard foreman in No 1 yard at Bison in Leeds used to show Red setters. He had the photos and rosettes in their yard cabin lovely looking dogs. Have spent most of the morning taxi ing her ladyship chasing medication for Lucas that he needs to sleep. Boots couldn't get it (normal pharmacy) ended up going to Featherstone they should get it Wednesday. It was purely byvchance that she rang Boots to see if it was ready that we found out they couldn't get it

RMweb Gold Popular Post TheSignalEngineer Posted March 14, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 14, 2022 Bu%%eration. After a good week of near normality last week, including three bike rides and a trip out on the shiny metal, a bit of a headache when I went to bed last night. Still there this morning so did a testy thing and two lines appeared. Until further notice all communication will come from House Arrest the isolation unit, AKA the spare bedroom, where my laptop is being set up. There is one silver lining however. It has en-suite facilities shared by the Railway room. Currently that contains two folding crates of kits, detailing parts and RTR donors. Don't think I will be twidding my thumbs, just got to avoid doing a GDB with the craft knife.

Hmmm......not sure why a "gone" bearing would stop a washing machine from working, unless it was totally Fubar'd and seized; a "gone" bearing would normally cause a wiggly drum (if indeed it's a drum bearing) and/or be as noisy as hell. Still, if the new washer is a freebie (some extra warranties offer this) then sounds like a fair swap to this Bear.... 1 hour ago, AndrewC said: Would it be a Samsung fridge perchance? Popular Post Ian Abel
Happy Monday?!?! Weekend completed; Saturday afternoon, retrieved the newly purchased storm/screen door and toilet from two separate "big-box" stores. The Mrs. hadn't noticed, when she was looking for what she wanted, that she'd done that! No real problem as they're about 1/2 mile apart - surprised HER though when she started looking for her acknowledgements/pickup-receipts Trevor and Meagan provided the heavy-lifting as the kids have decided I"m generally too old to do stuff without help - rubbish I say. In their enthusiasm, they carried the toilet directly into the bathroom to same me the bother of moving it from the porch when I install it - then off they went Problem was, I wasn't about to install it until next week - oh well, there's enough room to get around it and use all the facilities, and it gives the Mrs an opportunity to visualize (box is almost the same high and width as a smaller/newer vanity would be) what her NEXT planned bathroom modification may look like. Zoomed with friends in the evening and THEN... drum-roll, adjusted all the clock appropriately so they'd be correct in the morning. Set an alarm - something I almost NEVER DO, relying on my body clock which is very good/accurate - so I was up in time to avoid the wrath of our choir director if I was late in AM. THAT resulted in me barely sleeping as I was concerned the alarm wouldn't go off Sunday - awoke (if you could call it that, see above) on time and was one of the earliest on the risers for the morning services. All went splendidly. Weather Sunday was delightfully above zero and sunny. I ended up napping for about 2-hours, according to the Mrs, in the afternoon to recover from the sleepless night. Today - much improved, EXCEPT THE WEATHER! We had an important REMINDER that this is MinneSNOWTA, so, ZERO and snowing first thing. High of 4 later, then expected to be a high of 10 tomorrow and TWELVE on Wednesday... Onward... 17
RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted March 14, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 14, 2022 (edited) I have finished removing the old and fitting the new kitchen tap. It was chosen as it wasn’t too expensive and looked ok. It was claimed to be “easy fit” too. It looks ok and works well but I will avoid anything claiming Easyfit in future. I suspect when we get round to a kitchen refurb Aditi will choose a sink and tap fitting that is hideously expensive. She doesn’t look at the price, she just looks at something and decides if she likes it. This does of course mean sometimes stuff doesn’t get replaced. I think it took about 20 years after our lounge furniture needed replacing to find something she liked. Perhaps by the time we are finally replacing the kitchen worktops marble effect Formica will be fashionable again.
