Popular Post tigerburnie
It's almost 59 years ago when I first saw the Stones at Leicester college of art and technology, I thought they were a local band, cost 1/6d to get in(that's 7.5 pence in new money). I now really do feel I'm getting old, but not as old as the band lol. G'night all. 16 1

Forecast is for up to 200mm in 5 hours this afternoon, my rain gauge only goes to 150mm so I'm going to need a second one. We had our heaviest rain in a while - almost 40mm in 24 hours. After an unseasonably dry eight weeks, we really needed it but there will be minor flooding in the usual places in the coastal rivers. Nothing like what you are seeing. The notion that "it never rains but it pours" will be our new normal as the climate warms - a warmer atmosphere being capable of holding more water. In November, people in southeast Queensland were talking about needing water restrictions and now there's flooding. 1 1
Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Despite a phone call from the shop fitters to say that a column holding up a concrete lintel , fitted by my builders was about to fall down and another computer malfunction, I’m a bit happier and thinking what the f**k else can go wrong? I’ll wait until tomorrow to find out I suppose. As you can imagine I haven’t had chance to read and rate all posts and certainly haven’t had time to enjoy the musical recommendations that have been offered. All those under the weather and suffering, I hope tomorrow is a better day, Goodnight , Robert 2

Baz From the MSN website: A Russian armoured column an estimated 40 miles (64km) long is about 17 miles from Kyiv, satellite pictures show, but US officials say it appears to have stalled due to fierce resistance and logistical and other problems. In other news.... The t0ssers running the FIA have said that Russian drivers can compete in F1, so long as it's not under the Russian flag. Spineless. Bear the fact that you troubled to checked out Bolt Thrower warms my heart mate…..and if you decided that it is not for you….well that’s what we on ER are all about…right there! The right to be different if we bloody well want to. And I do appreciate Buddy Rich’s amazing skills. I was introduced to his talent when listening to the Muppets as a kid believe it or not. I can still remember it watching it, I was at a mate’s house and I didn’t know who he was…my mate was a drummer (we were 8, and his dad was also a jazz drummer) explained. He had some records with Buddy Rich on. FIA Corrupt from the Top apparently? ….it is where the dough goes…..boycot, switch off, don’t watch, halt it. It can be done. It is possible with enough willing…….or millions of handfuls of marbles on the track? As you say Spinless….I’d add that ‘Some’ in there are Politically Corrupt, Morally Bankrupt, Corporate Filth…the world at this sort of level appears not to be short of them. Sorry in advance if my view offends anyone regarding this specific deficient species within FIA. Perhaps some names and faces should be put to these decisions and then made global? Then see what happens. I don’t follow F1 but I can totally see why people do and I don’t think it deserves this, at best, Failure of Leadership. Hopefully it was a miscommunication and the real message is still yet to find a voice. Sad when so many others are literally giving everything ….more than enough on that from me I think. How’s the work going Bear? Have you had your final meeting with the Paintbrush? Mrs Grizz and I lived in Grizz Castle whilst we did it up, and it took nearly 10 years overall, as it was nearly derelict when we got it. It had chickens living in the cellar before we bought it and all that comes with that! “Ah I love the smell of Jeyes Fluid in the morning….” 15 1
Ozexpatriate
I see that the Felicity Ace (with all those new Porsches, Audis and Volkswagens) developed a 45° list (while under tow) and capsized then sank in heavy seas off the Azores where the Atlantic is 3km deep. The episode reminds me of another Mitsui O.S.K. Lines RO-RO vessel MV Cougar Ace which, full of Mazdas, lost stability in the North Pacific in 2006. The cars were subsequently ground up in a big blue metal muncher here in Portland. Cougar Ace was cut up in India in 2020. I suppose that means the fire (not caused by, but fuelled by the lithium batteries) is probably out. But iff they recover it (3km - seems unlikely) I don't see the leccy cars being ground up unless they can remove the dead batteries. 8
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 1, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) Good evening everyone Some more progress has been made in the storage area, the ground has been levelled off enough for the supports for the beams. As expected, I filled a bucket, well an old 10 litre paint container, with the last of the rubble. I then gave all the brickwork a good brushing off, ready for applying the sealer. This highlighted the need to do a little bit of pointing in the area below the bay window, this was completed after dinner. Hopefully it will be dry enough tomorrow to apply the sealer. Last week I promised to give a more detailed review of the mini saw I purchased. So, this morning I went down to the workshop for half an hour and had a play with it. I did a few test cuts on wood (match sticks and lolly sticks) and plastic (2mm x 6mm strip), no metal as yet has been cut. I have to say it is very easy to use, it cuts both wood and plastic very neatly, but care has to be taken when cutting plastic, a fast cut is essential. If to much time is taken the heat generated makes the plastic melt slightly. The vice can be set at a maximum angle of 45 degrees. The base has a scale cast into it, 0 - 45 in 5 degree increments. For accurate angles, I’d suggest using some sort of adjustable angle measuring equipment to get really. But, once set up, very accurate cuts can be reproduced, repeatedly and very quickly, essential if lots of items are required. If set lengths are required, a small block, clamped to the base at the required length will enable this to be done very quickly indeed, although I haven’t tried that yet! For those who can’t remember what the saw looks like, here it is. Edited March 1, 2022 by BSW01 12 1

(I didn't look it up further.) Online photographs show the vessel heavily damaged by the fire.

Meek and mild stuff. At 17 I was on the scrumpy and black at the Greyhound pub in Holloway Head in Birmingham. They brewed their own in those days. The smooth was strong and relatively clear, the rough was like a fog and had lumps floating in it, reputedly bits of apple. It cost 10d old money per pint (= 4.17p decimal) which allowing for inflation would be about 75p now. You could get unconscious for half a crown on that stuff but the local winos would happily drink it all night. 9 2 3

Being shown up by the Ukrainians on the battlefield would make Putins head explode, he will not stand up for the perceived loss of face. He will pulverise Ukraine with all that stuff he has that he hasnt brought out yet until there is nothing left of the place, rather than look like a loser. 14

MV Cougar Ace didn't sink. It lay on it's side for about a week in the open ocean* before the salvage crew arrived. Righting it was difficult and the initial salvage boarding led to a horrific fatality in the salvage crew. * Which is why the cargo of cars could not be sold - based on fluids draining where they shouldn't be through several weeks of listing, though Mazda claimed there was minimal damage. They didn't want the cars 'chop shopped' like those '72 Mitsubishi/Dodge Colts apparently were. Edited March 2, 2022 by Ozexpatriate
