On being sent home after an out-patient procedure, I was almost ordered to start pain relief before the local wore off. I was told it is easier to stop pain from starting than to suppress it once it has started. We made up a schedule for the next three days for taking pain relief and anti-inflammatories which were (of course) on different timings. 2

What I wish I had done was take some pain relief before the local anaesthetic wore off. I had a most uncomfortable 20 minutes waiting for the paracetamol to work. The dentist was very concerned about post extraction bleeding due to some medication I was taking and really wanted me to go to the hospital for the extraction but I said he was an experienced dentist, I would probably just get someone far less experienced at the hospital. Bear has only ever had one goober pulled (one in from the back one); the Fang Doctor said that if it hurt he's doing something wrong, so let him know. It never did hurt (I would've returned the favour if it had ) but the bit where he was kneeling on my chest was kinda concerning. Boy, did it bleed afterwards though - I was gobbin' blood into a paper cup for hours. When it came to having the implant I was dreading it (it's a bit like drilling a hole in a brick wall and screwing in a rawlplug, but in your jaw....) but it was a walk in the park compared to having the tooth taken out - no problem at all. The most painful bit was the bill..... 36 minutes ago, Ian Abel said: Instead I rode the exercise bike in Colorado and Alaska adding another 7 miles for the week. An intrigued Bear - does the bike have a telly screen so you can actually ride a route? In other news.... A VHB Does this mean that the coving is finally finished? Er, not exactly - but it's sooooo close (just a couple of eensy weensy titchy re-filled bits to sand) that it almost is. So why the VHB? Well I bunged in a cheeky offer yesterday (the start price) for a non-muddling item on the 'bay, despite the fact that it had only just been listed and had the best part of nine days to run; amazingly I got an email this morning to pay up cos' it had been accepted. Result.... All I need now is for Bear's paws to stop stingin' - the sanding has taken it's toll, mainly because I'd been using the sandpaper folded over for best effect and that meant that whilst one side was sanding the coving, the other side was sanding Bear's paw tips. However, this does now mean that being pawprinted by The Plod holds no fear for this Bear - cos' the paw prints are long gone.... And finally.... SBT's to "Olive" - of "On The Buses" fame, who vary sadly died in a house fire yesterday 12
RMweb Premium polybear Posted February 23, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 23, 2022 Oh yes, and a game of bullsh1t bingo with the docs. was played - repeatedly listening to the engaged tone and having to re-dial over and over again until I got lucky I'd much rather they had a queueing system ("you are number 57 in the queue") than playing that lark for twenty minutes. I guess if they had then people would start b1tchin' about their fone bills. No chat with a doc ensued, though the Checkpoint Charlene did confirm that one of the blood tests was flaky; instead I got an appointment for a doc to call me back. In two weeks..... Hopefully I'll still be alive by then.... 1

Yes indeed a 22" touch screen Check out iFit, it's a fitness program for a variety of equipment that is included/paired with the bike I have. The cycling portion is seemingly "endless" with multiple rides and levels. My bike is a -> NordicTrack s22i and I'm working my way through the "beginner" offerings right now. So far done a Bermuda series around the island (16+ miles), a Washington DC series around DC (22+ miles), started a Colorado ride series, so far only one 5-mile (the coach is cute but MEAN pushing you every two minutes for a one minute power ride! ) Most of the rides/series are videos following a coach who both gives details/history of the area and give you performance challenges along the way. All can be turned on or off. The bike has controls for incline/decline and resistance, they can be controlled manually AND with all the "coach driven" rides are controlled automatically by the terrain and the coach input for the workout. 12

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted February 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2022 Evenin' each, Well that was a pretty full on afternoon. The Boss is now home and sitting in her armchair feeing slightly knackered. Senior partner took over from his sister and removed the remains of the offending tooth but did say it was rather tricky. Considering we were there for over two and a half hours I don't doubt that.....nor does The Boss. She did say though how impressed she was with their care and how they did everything to minimise her fears and no real pain either but that will come when the anaesthetic has worn off. I've already given her some paracetamol and have also got Ibuprofen or even Tramadol if absolutely necessary. It was a surgical extraction in the end and the total cost including X-rays was £234 so not quite as bad as the dentist Bear was quoting. Whilst at the dentist I had a text from the roofer to say that he'd done the job but had covered it up as it had started raining but will be back tomorrow to remove the cover. I already knew that because I could see some of what he was doing on the security camera. He'd taken the ladders down and put everything back on the van then came running back with the ladders and small tarpaulin so I guessed what had happened. Conscientious guy I think because some wouldn't have bothered once they'd packed everything away. Told The Boss to take it easy and I've cooked myself a quick fry-up (obviously she can't eat anything for a while) which went down well and the new hob has been blooded. Didn't think red wine would go with bacon and eggs so I've only just poured myself a large glass. Suggested to The Boss that although a brandy later might help her as she doesn't like it I'll drink it for her! 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted February 23, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2022 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The funeral went well though my niece was unable to attend as she has tested positive for covid. Its also the first Catholic funeral service I have ever attended, there are differences to C of E but it was all very short as the crematorium was very busy with hearses queuing up, almost like a conveyor system. Just as well it was a cremation as the cemetery itself was on high ground and the wind was bitterly cold. I got the documents signed, those that could and should be signed. You'd think that lasting power of attorney would be simpler than a will but no. Fortunately my sister and her husband had done theirs a couple of years ago so knew what was required.

The sale is probably a "match" for the sale(s) here. Basically they're "selling" the pre-2021 models for $1,499, the 2021 model (the one I decided to buy) for $1,599, and the 2022 is $2,099. the pre-2021 models are missing a few of the features I wanted, notably the motorized incline/decline, bluetooth for heart monitors/additional music and a couple of other features. The 2022 only major additions is 40watt sound both cage and clip on pedals (cage only previously) and a couple of other less important tweaks, so I figured on saving $500 was a good deal. The advantage over here in general is houses are bigger/more space to put such stuff 13

Ozexpatriate
Am looking forward to tomorrow, confident that television news puff pieces won't be featuring as many new-born babies, born at 2:22 on 2/22/22. The "Cola wars" are back. Pepsi has put the Guinness widget in one of their cans, introducing "Nitro Pepsi". Coke meanwhile already announced their "Starlight" 'flavour'(?) which is presumably a chemical brew that tastes so indescribable they decided to brand it as 'out of this world' and "inspired by space". What does "space" taste like? One wonders. Speaking of chemical brews that taste indescribable, Mountain Dew (known for it's extra high kick of caffeine) is offering caffeine-free, alcoholic beverages to compete with the deluge of spiked seltzers, for when the one thing you crave is fizzy booze that tastes like one imagines battery acid might taste. Today's weather is weird. It looks absolutely stunning outside - bright sunshine and cloudless, blue skies and early afternoon temperatures still under 2°C! We likely set a low temperature record overnight. (At this time of year it is normally 10°C and raining.) We don't do politics here so you're spared what's really on my mind. At least the plague cases continue to decrease - now well under the peaks of the delta wave and the wave of December 2021 (still higher than most days of the last two years, but the trendline remains encouraging). Hate to say it but Meagan (DiL) has a bike, a treadmill AND a whole weight system - scary!!! Popular Post simontaylor484
I am now ensconced in my armchair we have done a ludicrous amount of steps according to Lucas' watch. A few thoughts we were masked many were not I did read masks are to become an advisory this week. Nor many problems on the tube only at Victoria heading back towards the centre a lot of ignorant barstewards. I took my crutches with me and I am happy to report in a lot of cases on the tube and DLR I was offered a seat but we were hopping on and off. The hardest was to get to Blackwall which involved a little to ing and fro ing changing trains. We did get to sit in the front seat at one bit but we were in the second of a doubled up unit. On most trains we were on the front area was cordoned off for social distancing for any member of staff. We enjoyed the transport museum although we did end up having to go round again as we missed one area out because of a small crowd. There were some unruly kids with parents just not caring what they were doing kicking and punching exhibits Anyway I'm beat im off to bed goodnight ' 12 1

During the Sydney Olympics the Italian womens cycling team were based near where I work -its at the base of the Blue Mountains so they'd use the hill climb up the mountains to train. You'd be driving along and suddenly come to a line of traffic slowed to a crawl and realise that you'd come up behind the team on a training ride. RMweb Gold Popular Post TheSignalEngineer Posted February 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2022 Apologies for having gone missing for a while. Have dropped in occasionally but have been restricting my web activity lately. Bit of a nasty storm at the weekend managed to blow some water through the tiles on the bay window roof. Fortunately I went to look at the incoming weather from that room just as it started dripping through the ceiling and was able to save most things in its path except the window blinds. I think the felting onderneath must have got damaged or displaced at the edges as the wind was gusting to about 60 mph at the time. Once the roof is fixed and the inside dried out the plasterboard on the ceiling will need replacing. 8 hours ago, New Haven Neil said: Holmfirth's kind of OK, bit cold as it's high - we go there as there is a fantastic BMW motorcycle parts place there, anything I need I pre-order and collect when we visit friends in Yorkshire. Tea n buns in Sid's cafe can be had, but the layout of it is different to that on the TV. We ride across to Holmfirth regularly. I haven't done the off-road route on a conventional MTB for a couple of years but will try it again in the summer. We've done it in winter on an eBike and also the road route via Holm Moss. Coming down the Woodhead side one day the wind was so strong that it took about 10 mph off my rolling speed and had to pedal on the way done. For eating we often use the bakery on the street crossing the river in the centre. The do hot beef barms with onion gravy. Regarding Sid's Cafe you used to be able to get a certificate saying you had partaken of tea and buns there. When there was a bit cut in the armed services in the 1990s we had a lot of ex-service people diverted onto BR. Some proudly displayed their basic training certificates on the wall so I replied by putting up my Sid's Cafe one. 6 1 1
