In Other News Lovely day today which bodes well for some astronomy later on to coincide with the full moon. Just had a friend/former colleague round for coffee and putting the world to rights. simontaylor484
@PupCam just be careful with a Henry, we had problems with ours where the metal tube meets the plastic hose. The plastic on the hose adapter can crack
Popular Post simontaylor484
Bit pi55ed off today, I ordered a couple of double plug sockets and usb chargers from eBay. Got a really good deal retailing in CEF and the like for £30. They were selling at £12.50 or best offer so I bid £10 and ordered 2. They came 2 days later no problem but they had sent 1 usb socket and 1 double gang normal socket. It wasn't a problem i needed one of those anyway and again its worth more than the £10 I paid (it's a screwless deco plate). I bid for another usb socket my offer was accepted, this was on the 11th I contacted them on Friday to see what was happening apparently the seller had been in Hospital with a newborn and they would dispatch today. I haven't been notified of dispatch yet (it's not quite 1pm when I'm typing this drivel). What do I do is the quandary do I pester them (which I don't like doing) do I cancel the order and ask for a refund or do nothing till tomorrow. This is the trouble with having severe anxiety and depression it sets me off in a vicious circle. I have found an alternative supplier for the same product for £17 it's not that I'm in a rush for the sockets I don't need them for a couple of weeks yet but i want to have them to hand

A big problem of the world in which we live is that we can get stuff from far-off places remarkably quickly very often. This sets our "normal" (whatever that is!) expectations stupidly high and then when they are dashed we get anxious, depressed, distressed etc etc all for no good reason at all. I think I mentioned recently that I've never really needed something next day but often wanted it next day. Fortunately in my case, being "tight" outweighs the "want" so I won't pay, for example, for Amazon Prime. Try and save any anxiety, anger, whatever else for those situations that warrant it - e.g. when/if they send you a 3 phase mains plug instead of a single phase wall socket 4 weeks late. When we were over the Titanic site in 2019 (nice waves, not much else to see) we attended an interesting lecture presented by one of the exploration team. I don’t have any urge to visit any closer. Ian Abel
Monday... Very nice weekend overall, Saturday dinner with Trevor and Meagan trying out a new Korean restaurant take-out was excellent. Yesterday somewhat quiet, generally getting organized for our vacation. Today - realized that I won't actually hear from the Long Island client as they get Martin Luther King day as a holiday, oh well clock that up to sit-around-looking-bored Will do some running around for various trip related items later today, and an at-home COVID test as a precaution - no symptoms, but since we're travelling decided we should - just to be safe for everyone involved/we come in contact with, or not, as the test results will show! -9 and overcast getting the newspaper, forecast high of -1, no precip expected. Enjoy the day...
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted January 17, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 17, 2022 Just 5 minutes sit before I prepare dinner, carrots n swede already done. Very domesticaked. Chris mentioned The Commitments yesterday, I thought that was a really funny movie, with of course a glimpse of one of the old IoM ferries on it - Can't remember if it was Lady of Man or Mona's Queen, one of the old side-loaders anyway. I saw Andrew Strong, the main singer in the film live here in 2003 (ish) he was pretty good, but his own stuff wasn't as good as the Commitments numbers he sang. Apparently he's a bit of work though....

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted January 17, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 17, 2022 had an "interesting" day.. for a variety of reasons. Another nurse rang about my diabetic meds.. she was useless and didn't seem to have any clue as to what it was all about. She booked a slot for my annual foot tickle.. "why have you not arranged for this earlier" she said.. quick as a flash response " ever tried booking a appointment with you all down at the Marie Celeste?" totally waisted as she didn't know what the Marie Celeste is! PAH! Hopefully Sister Drac will ring me at 5 pm on our landline.. as agreed last week! PAH!!! Good job the Army took over co-ordination of vaccine deliveries from the NHS "logistics" team... In other news.. if you are fleeing Britain or returning to it without a good mobile phone or lost of printed papers.. forget it! Baz

I'm having a mushroom omelette and chips tonight, I have the mushrooms left over from last time. RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted January 17, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 17, 2022 Another place for an interesting day. Infermiere Drac, aka Domnique arrived at 10.30 and struggled to extract the red stuff. Beth very helpfully suggested that it was as difficult as extracting money from my wallet. She eventually got some out of the back of my hand then I had my breakfast. In the afternoon we packed and made preparations for out trip to the UK on Wednesday and I spent 90 minutes talking to an old friend and his wife about the moving to France as they are thinking of making the move. A guinea fowl had been roasted and then the phone rang, it was out daughter. Young Emily has tested positive for Covid aged 2 yrs 8 months. Fortunately she isn't too bad and has obviously caught the lurgy at nursery. We are now in the throes of cancelling our trip yet again. The law of sod dictates that the phone call came 2 minutes after the Brittany Ferries office closed. Turdycurses or merde as our neighbours would say. A large measure of Scottish medicine is now in order. Jamie

The elephant being smaller bigger than a donk(ey).. at 76cm tall.. That's within the last 10,000 years... so modern man met them.... Modern horses in North America were introduced by the Spanish. More ironically: Quote While genus Equus, of which the horse is a member, originally evolved in North America, the horse became extinct on the continent approximately 8,000–12,000 years ago. The cause of this extinction is unknown. Leading hypotheses are climate change or hunting by the Clovis peoples. There are many ancient Equus fossils in Eastern Oregon.
