RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted July 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 11, 2021 Afternoon Awl, Sideshow Bob attacked with the hedge trimmer, Sideshow Bob attacked back, particularly left forepaw. Heavily scratched and a Thorn in the end of the thumb required surgery, aka a needle to remove the thorn. About 30 ft done. That leaves about 150ft to do... Main hatch modified and repaired. I had hoped to paint it, but years of abuse has left too many scratches, so after a sanding, a skim coat of filler has been applied. The two "joysticks" have had their feet squared off and widened with wood. Next week they and the main hatch will require sanding. The joystick feet will require some thin fibreglass reinforcement. Ben the I want a loooong walk Collie took me round, much of the lanes has been mowed, but the mowing stops nowhere in particular, something must have gone wrong. he whooomidity has bin terrible today forme it means I has to sit and rest more often due to the difficulty breathing sometimes. A looong soak in the bath was greatly enjoyed.. TV will not go on till 21:00 tonight. When there is something SWMBO wishes to watch, at that point I'll go to bed.. For now good bye.. 15
Popular Post Andrew P
@45156 Mentions Amazon Prime, that is one reason I will never buy from that Company, I was conned, a few years ago into Prime, not realising. IMHO there should be a large warning coming up to inform you that an EXTRA £45 will be taken from your Bank Account. I did eventually get my Money back, but vowed there and then that even if I couldn't buy something else where, I would rather not have it. Rant over. That was short and to the point. RMweb Premium Popular Post The White Rabbit Posted July 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 11, 2021 Arternoon awl The weather continues to be changeable. Some G-word done this am, started as blue sky, went to grey and drizzle, some fool turned the volume up to kapurtle for a while, then back to drizzle, then kapurtle again, then ease off and stop. Blue sky. Then some more (light) liquid sunshine. Blue sky, then grey. And pause... So no mortaring done today. A few other bits done though, setting things up for when there's no chance of precipitation. I will make a deliberate move to avoid the football later. It is a sport I have a low opinion of and I resent being told what I should feel or do. If others like it, fine, that's up to you, just don't expect me to like it or criticise me for having a different opinion. Some brownie points could be had with an early start to work Monday morning, while others crawl in (virtually) with sore heads and blame the alarm clock, Virgin Media and/or little Johnny. Litter is a bug bear for me too. Probably just as well I'm not a parkie with a stick with a spike on, otherwise I could be in trouble for 'mis-aimed' jabs. Some strawberries and carrots consumed earlier, though I hasten to add, not in the same dish. Both pleasantly sweet. Recipes for curd tarts researched. They were a particular favourite of my mother's, akin to LDCs for a certain bear, though this furry critter has his own favourites, it has been some years since I indulged in that particular dish and I haven't seen them in any of the shops I've been in lately. Some reading caught up on, including threads the awl would not approve of. One day, hopefully soon, I might have to self-censor an account of my activities. Reading through ERs, I hope some of our missing regulars are OK, just taking a break rather than dealing with crises. Best wishes/positive vibes... thoughts especially for Gordon & family. 22

Popular Post simontaylor484
Good evening all I am sick of hearing about kickball There is currently some drunken idiot on the path blowing a horn and shouting Enger land if he doesn't disappear sharpish he will have to get it surgically removed. I'm afraid to say it will all end in tears it will get chucked away as usual. Today I have been in the Garden i thought it would be a good idea to replace some deck boards that were rotten. Mm wish I hadn't bothered screws rusted in some boards have come up using ultra violence and various tools. 1

There lies the pathway to doom. 4 hours ago, 45156 said: Oh and I also managed to get conned recruited into Amazon Prime, as they appear to have made the checkout more awkward to avoid this, and next thing I know was an email from them saying I was now a prime member - NO I AM NOT - the link to the unsubscibe is not so big and obvious. I have unsubscribed now, and my "membership" will expire in 28 days - so I may as well take advantage of the free next day delivery for the next 28 days, then I will, I think, wave ta-ta to Amazon unless I REALLY need to use them. Bear has been "caught" by accidentally signing up to the music or talking books options on Amazon, sometimes by failing to cancel the "1 month free" offers that appear from time to time. In fairness they've always been good about it and scrubbed the charge after a phone call to them. I do have Amazon Prime now - with all the refurb work going on I've been finding the free "next day" (and often "same day") delivery invaluable - and boy, have I been kicking the ar5e out of it and getting my money's worth - and often for very low value items too, such as a three quid washing up bowl. I also find many of the offerings on Amazon Prime TV very interesting too, so for the eighty-odd quid a year I reckon they've got me hooked, for the time being at least. 4 hours ago, 45156 said: Result of Mr Branson's forthcoming flight, and the forthcoming footie are of no interest whatever here, though we will probably be able to follow the progress of the latter via the neighbours. Bear missed the live flight broadcast, only catching up via the ITV news. Seems to be a bit of an anti-climax to me, and not exactly Spacebear territory. I'll cancel my ticket, thanks. As for the kick ball, I see that Wembley was in lockdown briefly, thanks to the exploits of a load of yobbo's who've been getting tanked up all day. A 9am kick-off would be far more sensible. The police must be brickin' it, as big trouble later must be pretty much certain - and even worse if they lose. 4 hours ago, Tony_S said: The white Fiesta looks very clean now. The black Evoque is ok but I was getting tired. I will give them both another clean in the week. They were so grubby it is going to take at least two washes. Bear has only owned four cars in the last 35-ish years, with only one of them (a Granada) being black. Once was enough, and I vowed "never, ever again". In other news: Another day on the refurb, with much time spent fitting and adjusting drawers, as well as more sorting of kitchen cr@p and finding a new home for it - much of which needed a wash beforehand. Bear was also offered a freebie sunday din dins with buddy & SWMBO next door , which went down very well - buddy is a pretty good cook . They've sold their house again - this time to a single Italian lady apparently, with no pink terrorists in tow. We'll see. 17

The Ursine Prognostications Department was correct. The vacuum required emptying - not arduous as it's a bagless and functionally very easy to empty mess-free straight into the bin. But it always needs its filter cleaned. I have a couple of spares on hand and swap them over rather than do the filthy job of washing one out and trying to dry it before using the machine. A damp filter will clog and cause the dust to coagulate. Domestic Engineering was duly completed. I then got a better end of the deal having to roast a beef and enjoy the result which was done with a glass of quite respectable Merlot. I received a message earlier asking me to avoid calling a particular friend between 8-10pm tonight as he would be "watching an important match". I replied that Djokovich had already won The response I received cannot be repeated here! I'm assuming he isn't allowing for overtime or the whack-a-'keeper shoot-out. It's time to shower the Gwiwer followed by a long period of eyelid-inspection. Tomorrow is another day. I need to be fresh, alert and the other stuff. 3

Bear's first car was black (never again), then red**, then silver, now white. The silver was by far the best at not looking dirty - it'd go for weeks without a wash and still manage to look "not too bad". ** Technically I've owned two red cars (both new XR2's) - the first was a disaster, to the point where the garage gave me a full refund cos' I made them look very , very silly. To cut a long story short it was delivered to me with a small dent in the door - they filled and resprayed the door and you could still see the dent - and runs in the paint - when I went to collect the car after the repair they'd parked it in a supermarket car park on a saturday afternoon in Stamford Hill . I'd also complained that they'd missed items off the PDI (for which they charged 300-odd quid for (IIRC) back in the late 80's. So the "Big" Manager promised that he'd personally ensured it'd all been repeated, and by the book this time. Only a naughty little Bear had let a load of air out of the spare before I returned the car to them for rectification. Out came the Tyre Pressure Gauge, down went the Manager's chin. Game, set & match to Bear.... 16

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted July 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 11, 2021 Both the current NHN household cars are....black. This isn't really by choice, we usually buy 3 year old cars, ex-motability, and we go for the right car in the right condition, colour being less of a priority. My i30 was ex-motability with 8k miles only - the only alternative on offer ( I need an auto - that foot) was white but had 23k miles, and the same price. No contest. Mrs NHN's Picasso C3 was much the same, she's picky about colours, an aubergine, blue and white ones were rejected before this one came along, and it had to be a particular model to get the gadgets she wanted, so black again. Sigh. My previous car was metallic brown (A B-Max - good practical car, crepe weak engine, had to go as needed an auto, (see; foot) which indeed did not show the dirt - but it looked like metallic dog....stuff. 12

The Blue Origin launch will have more unknowns. Will the reusable launch vehicle explode on landing? Where will the capsule land? etc 13
