Popular Post tigerburnie
Afternoon all, I had 24 hours on the river yesterday, Salmon fishing in the daylight and then Sea Trout in the dark, due to a variety of reasons I failed to catch anything, the river was full of jumping fish, but not my day. Not caught up with everyone's posts, so hope all are well and the weekend is enjoyed, I may well collapse into slumber in a bit, not used to nights shifts any more lol. 19

RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 3, 2021 Bear has a sink installed ...well, nearly..... I still have to tighten up the U-bend fitting, but that'll wait until tomorrow - when the silicone that the sink is bedded onto has cured; I also still have to run a bead of silicone along the back edge of the sink - tomorrow. Now it's time to install the Dishwasher..... 17 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 3, 2021 The rain has departed here anyway, the train ride and lunch was OK, 'Tunnel Cars' 6 and 7 (1894) were today's ozone laden transport. Had a nice chat on the train with a couple of visitors from the UK, this being the first week of our borders being open. They were 'a little' surprised to find the MER isn't a preserved railway using 'tramcars' from elsewhere, but a still-operating artifact of the rock's past with original equipment still in use. Not sure what orders are to be given for this afternoon's remainder, we're off out to friend Jayne's for a Thai meal this evening.
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 3, 2021 Afternoon Awl, The promised rain has not arrived, only had some warm drizzle. According to the weather radar, there's a big patch of wet stuff just off the coast topping up the German ocean at this moment. So....20 slabs recovered, and about 100 pavior bricks. Then back had had enough. After a break Ben took me for his walk, I note daisies are now poking their heads above the barley, the lanes are surrounded by rapid growth it's like walking down a green tunnel. Then to the workshop, and boat. measured length in boat for rudder stock. Marked up rudder stock, jib club cut to length, measured length in boat for rudder stock. Checked markings on rudder stock OK. So. Cut rudder stock to length. Drilled two holes in rudder stock for tiller bar. Sanded rudder down on both sides, I'll paint it once it's hanging from the boat. There are wonderful smells coming from the kitchen, as the joints I bought yesterday are getting very much warmer.. I'm now lying on the bed straightening my back, Ben is asleep on the floor beside me, I'm about to join him in snoring.. Bye byes for now. 18

Really wasted my Saturday now but onwards upwards
RMweb Premium Popular Post The White Rabbit Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 3, 2021 The rain here is alternating between on, off and a bit of both. I witnessed a passenger fall between train and platform once, when I was off duty and travelling, a young lad, not used to trains and not paying attention, stepped onto a concave platform face from a middle door and didn't step far enough ... The right away was about to be given and I was about to yell to the guard and stick both arms in the air but a member of platform staff had also seen it and was about half a second ahead of me. Unfortunately the lad had injuries to his chin and nose, as they had hit the platform on the way down. Some more house clearance and a run to the tip done, some eyebrows raised at some of the posts (some people's definition of a 'great idea' are certainly not mine). Official paperwork (yawn...) and housekeeping jobs done. Time to do a few more...
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 3, 2021 Just now, simontaylor484 said: Had an email about an hour ago from Royal snail they can't deliver my parcel.today it will be the next working day There is something of a shortage of drivers and there are known shortages of postal staff in some areas arising from the need to self-isolate when required. Just a thought. I know that has had a slight effect on deliveries around here. The daily mail has become the three-times-a-week mail and the parcel farce van only comes round with a full load. Something which arrives at the sorting office a mile away might not arrive on the doormat for a few more days. 5 14

Not everyone would know the signal to prevent dispatch or stop a train. It seems not even every staff member knows though those who don't are largely office-based and not "operational" staff. And good for the platform staff who was alert and acted correctly and immediately. These things happen without warning. As a part of my coaching to new entrants I always stress how suddenly a situation can arise. Never take eyes off the ball; never lose focus; always place a question "on hold" until dispatch is completed; always take the extra second to think "Is it safe?" before giving the tip / RA 19

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 3, 2021 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I had another mis-directed post from Royal Mail this morning, the second in three days but this one was not around the corner but on the other side of the estate. I see that the BBC has cancelled the news again, deciding that tennis and kick-ball is more important. So I scanned the tv programs and I'm now watching Murder on the Blackpool Express on the Drama channel. 15
simontaylor484
I m watching murder on the Blackpool express too its quite amusing. The sun is out now causing the humidity to increase. Why is it these TV channels assume everybody wants to watch kickball or that infernal ball bouncing pantomime from SW19. 1 8

Been quite warm today but according to the seaweed twirlers tomorrow the rain will arrive. A good year for poppies, they are coming out of everywhere including the gaps in the paving bricks of the front path. I noticed that there are more of the normal red coloured poppies this year, most of them used to be a deep pink cultivated variety but they are being displaced by the normal red ones. Welsh ones come out of everywhere, here, too.

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 3, 2021 Well I've had an enjoyable few hours watching a couple of rugby matches and some bike riding. I'm quite happy to miss the kickball tonight and have handed over the remote control to The Boss so we are now watching recordings of the Yorkshire Farm Sheepherding Lady and her large family. I don't mind as I really enjoy the programme. 20

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted July 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 3, 2021 Well there was a news bulletin on the BBC, squeezed in between the tennis and kick-ball for the ten minutes up to seven o'clock. Didn't fancy wielding The Shark so told Herself that the car was much dirtier than the house and was therefore a priority. Car washed thoroughly, dried, is now gleaming and car cleaning stuff put away. You can guess what happened next. The promised rain arrived and is currently coming down steadily and will do so for at least 42 minutes according to the app. I am now going to sit somewhere quiet* with a coffee and wait for lunchtime and then some rugby to watch. * No flippin' chance of quiet here at the moment as loft conversion guys 2 doors away are playing with angle grinders and next door (attached) has kitchen and new floor fitters in banging away merrily. May return later, Headaches 'R' Us. I did say. Don't say you weren't warned what would happen. You were told. You wouldn't listen would you. Probably that Sahara rain that leaves Cars dirtier than they started. I DIDN'T wash mine, NO RAIN HERE. 5
