He stopped, got out and ran back. Then he tries to get back to his car and then sensibly decided to stay away. When the police car arrived the fires had momentarily died down. Undoubtedly some of the other clips were of fatal accidents such as the tanker overturning going to fast around a sharp bend, the top of the trucks cab was ripped off down to the bottom of the windscreen.

Well it's all quiet in Puppers land with a morning of fasting and consuming nothing but good old H20.   

 

A trip to visit a very large truck full of very high tech equipment parked up for the day in St.Evenage just after the non-existent lunch.   An injection of radio active sugar solution (which has probably left Puppers glowing with a rather fetching 

pale green aura) followed by being passed backwards and forwards through a giant bagel while some bods watch either a computer screen or the football the other side of a glass and lead lined screen.    

 

It's not the scanning you need to worry about ..........

Anyway, I'm off to rustle up a couple of transistor drivers for the indicator LEDs on the box of electrickery, the purpose of which I mustn't mention

Snoozed for much longer than expected this afternoon and was only woken by the “ping” of a message arriving from Dr. SWMBO asking whether I was ok.

Afternoon all

 A bit of the g word has been carried out today followed by cleaning my loppers,secateurs and my shears for box trees. I used white spirit and scotchbrite to dissolve the saps couple of sprays of WD40 and then a couple of passes with my sharpening stone.

No more weather reports today.

 

Newish Federal regulations are doing an improved job of flagging robo/nuisance calls, except when they don't. Yesterday I had multiple calls from "Molly from Amazon" spoofing different local numbers on caller ID. (This is a known scam.)

 

Today I had a call spoofing the local post office number on caller ID claiming to be from the Federal government and saying "press one and you will be connected to the concern department if we don't hear from you then we will be forced to take legal action against you".

 

This morning I had an SMS (copying 20 other numbers) on my mobile telephone advertising (I'm guessing) some sort of online pornography. This is not the first time. Like the other times, I deleted it.

 

Technology is truly a double-edged sword.

 

On the plus side, it is easy to search for keywords from the scam calls and this will usually confirm that they are indeed, scams.

The end of another pleasant day, running the garden  railway  with a friend while the womenfolk went for a walk.  Then out to Peel (all that way) for chish n fips, for a change of venue.  Nice view, crepe fish.  Ramsey next time.

 

Some great sporting news, Mark Cavendish (Manx as the hills, yessir) winning the Tour de Jamie's Bit stage today. Something else ruined the telly programming, not sure what it was about.

 

Extra archery session tomorrow while the weather is good, Sunday's looking a bit dodgy.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. I had a spoof call earlier this evening. They were saying that my government grant aided loft insulation can cause condensation problems and needs to be replaced. Two problems with that. I paid myself for new loft insulation only seven years ago after the grants had ceased and the insulation itself is some sort of wool/felt material and the attic space is well ventilated and I don't have a condensation problem. Tea has brewed, be back later.

As someone who is 8 hours behind the live action, could I ask that football information is kept in the ‘Football Focus’ topic? Having managed to get to halftime in the TV rerun of the game here without knowing the final score, I was flicking through RMWeb in preference to listening to the studio pundits, purposely staying away from the ‘Football Focus’ topic, when I came across this post.

I planted the last of my sunflowers that have been getting so thin and tall - they look awful but thought I'd give them a chance to live.

It was then followed by rain so that was good.

 

Need to get a new water butt though as mine is just a leak fest of leaky leaks.

Successful trip to Cleethorpes completed. Chish and fips at Steels then a few bwers at a hotel, good nights sleep..monster full English breakfast, good game (which Yorkshire Ridings won by less than 20 runs, evening meal then decent trip back via A180, m180, m178, m62 then moreasons for some petrol..

 

I see even the supermarkets are charging silly prices for fuel..oil prices are steady, £ steady against the $...profits are required..PAH!

PS Roooooot won a proper game for England today...or should that be Yorkshire won v Sri Lanka....
