Greetings one and all

 

I managed three quarters of an hour in the jungle yesterday before my reserves of stamina were depleted.  It is dispiriting to find the green bin full yet so much more left to be done despite the newly created patches of bare earth.  Next week and the week after would be good times to crack on with it given that a certain tennis tournament will replace much of the least worst daytime TV.  Whether my body is up to it remains to be seen.

 

This evening I have another Zoom meeting.   It is perhaps more accurate to describe it as a remote talk.  Zoom does enable me, and no doubt others, to “attend” a talk which would otherwise entail a long drive.  For me the downside is that it is very difficult to talk to anyone else at the meeting or even know who else is “attending”.  More often than not the host mutes everyone except the speaker.  In a hall or similar venue, those present are more than likely to find themselves sitting next to someone and a brief conversation may well ensue.  On balance I hope that meetings of societies in halls, rooms and even phone boxes if you want intimacy will resume sooner rather than later.  Yesterday afternoon I was conscious once again of the fine dividing line between solitude and loneliness.  I am sorry to say that I find myself on the wrong side of it a bit too often.

 

Far more important than my woes is the encouraging news of Dave’s Dad.  Having to fight for what it is right can be such a pain but so far so good in this case.  Many thanks to Monkeysarefun for the well chosen koala snapshot, welcome back to Grandadbob and commiserations to all with aches and pains.  PhilJW, I thought that Wogan worked in a bank before he became a broadcaster, or is that not what you meant?

Good moaning. Up and about earlyish today. The steady drumbeat of old tiles falling into a lorry is the background sound. The roofers were all here by 07.00 when I went to let the hens out.  

 

A new boot was duly fitted to the car yrsterday. My usual man is closed at the monent and I will not br revisiting this the robbing bsr stewards who I used this time again.   Beth picked up a supply of guinea fowl, which are now in the freezer.  

 

The G word has been mentioned today, a stuborn bush needs to be uprooted. The mattock will be deployed.  Then thecafternoon is allegedly  mynown, but that may change.

It is a wet and extremely dark morning in this part of the world!  It's hard to believe that it is the end of June given the light level this morning.

 

Things are ticking along quite nicely.  Plus, Mercedes and I had our first injection at the weekend - so maybe there is a faint chance that things can start returning to some form of normality (whatever that is!)

Good morning all,

'Tis sunny here in the Land of Sutt and it is 9°C which will hopefully rise to about 21°C.

I have been absent for some time due to, let's say, not being quite myself and one or two other reasons that need not be mentioned. Not much of importance has been happening here of late, no injuries and certainly nothing world shattering....Ah! except, dare I mention it? Time has been spent in The Shed.  Parallel pieces of metal have been lifted up  and put back in a different configuration, ballast is being laid and there is a new addition to the stable.  There has been much talk (and some complaints) about this lovely liveried item on another thread.  I, however, am perfectly happy with the money spent and am looking forward to other (different items) as they become available throughout the year.

It being Thursday bins have been deployed and Sainsbury 's will only be substituting one item today.  No change there then.

Herself was up and out early to undertake a mission to collect a large bag.....of pebbles! This is in her gardening department... 

 

I have a jobstodo free day (I think). I need to check on playing regulations as I am umpiring Yorkshire Under 14s v Lancashire U14s this Sunday ..fits well with Over 60s match I did on Tuesday.

 

I need to finish my mugatea then.. well..who knows.

 

Glad you have both had your jab @Robert.  We are struggling to get the last 28% of those able to have one done here in Leeds. PAH!

In other news:

Bear is really hoping to make progress with the F/F frame today.  We'll see.

The roofers have a slightly later start today apparently - around mid-morning, so I'm told.  It gave me another half hour in bed.

Cutting the back lawn & general tidying would be useful too, as it's looking somewhat scruffy (the front is a bomb site, with much weeding required ).  I've a feeling that much (if any) G-word today might be hopeful though, with the K-word ongoing.

I also need to pack and send another ebay sale  (it was due to be sent today, but I'm late....); only a fiver (a toy car I've had for well over forty years - I've saved my favourites but a culling of the rest makes sense) but every little helps.  I'm eagerly watching one of my other listings (another matchbox-sized toy car) - it's now north of seventy five quid, and that's unboxed

 

I've listed an ironing board on freecycle, as I've bought a shorter one that'll fit in the new broom cupboard.  Someone was asking for stuff for what sounds like a move from home into a flat some days ago, so I did offer it to them.  That was five days ago - then they asked for a photo - duly sent - then they asked where I was - duly informed - and since then, silence....  Some people just don't deserve helping, so I've now posted it to all concerned and first come, first served.

There used to be a place in Littlehampton that had the BIGGEST piles of pebbles Bear had ever seen - higher than a house.  I went in there once and asked the guys in the office if I could buy some - no problem.  All I had to do was drive on the weighbridge first, then load the boot, then get weighed again.  I put as many in the boot as I dare.  Three quid to you Bear, IIRC.  I've still got loads stored by the side of the conservatory.  A quick look on google maps suggest the place is no longer there.

After just hearing on the radio that a survey of (I think) half a million (or was it a million?) who've had "covid symptoms" by one of the London hospitals it seems that 1 in 3 have long Covid lasting 12 weeks or more.  Perhaps those who are anti vax should ponder that one.

Dry but cloudy here in North Somerset. Rain not too far away - judging by the black clouds to the north. 

 

CH boiler duly serviced, and no expensive replacement parts needed for another year.  

 

I managed to mow the grass yesterday afternoon, so that is another chore out of the way for a few days. My cough and head cold is no better, but I managed a decent night's sleep; and so will just have to fester on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.

Morning all. I hope everyone is well? if not best wishes and sympathies as appropriate.

 

I've not really been in a frame of mind (or energy) to check in with rmweb much over the last several months or so. However,  things have started calming down somewhat now Richard finally has his new (varifocal) glasses and can see enough to read and more importantly drive. I no longer have to drive him to work and collect him, reducing the strain and stress on me considerably.

 

My health has been in somewhat of a decline however over the time I've been having to take him to work, mostly the stress, and weight gain has occurred, so I'll be having to try to deal with that going forward.

 

As I no longer have a car, unless Richard is off work I'm not likely to be getting out much anymore, especially as my scooter seems to have suffered battery death during lockdown (I couldn't find the charger, so I'm hoping the bigger batteries are still ok now we found it, we'll find out Friday). I'm about to order a wheelchair however as the scooter is a bit too big for the boot of Richard's car and with the battery problems hasn't been reliable enough to use when we've gone out into town or otherwise. This probably all means my attendance at exhibitions when they eventually start returning to normal is going to probably be fairly limited as again unless Richard is off work I won't have access to a car (unless I can maybe hire one somehow?). It is what it is though.

 

Anyway, that gloominess aside, all isn't so bad otherwise overall. We're looking at my moving in with Richard fully currently and it is just hopefully a matter of aligning finances and finding the time to box my stuff up and move it across.

It’s a dull wet, yes wet, as it is raining, start to the day here in England’s northwest. Sheila is getting herself ready for her Zumba class and I’m required to drop her off as we both got up late last night, despite getting to bed early! Once I’ve dropped her off, I will have the place to myself until midday. So, I shall continue working in the underfloor space below the living room, as I really must get on with it.

Sorry to hear about Kelly's mobility issues , having three months in a wheelchair or pottering around on one leg and a Zimmer frame a few years ago myself brought home just how hard it can be when you are less mobile.  You may think you understand, I thought I did as an ex-NHS outpatients manager, but I was wrong. 

 

Nice to see Bob too. Hi mate. 

 

My day is my own, so maybe a bit more fiddling on with the bike, it still does not go quite as well as it should, although it is much improved upon previous performance - and does not now pee oil everywhere.  Many things have been checked, and no obvious issues found, we're down to the more tricky stuff now.  Having found so many bodges with it over the years (I didn't initially restore it) it wouldn't surprise me to find yet more!

The Sydney delta outbreak grew by 11 today, although pretty much all have been linked to other cases so  spread so far doesn't seem to have got out of control.

In response we are all wearing masks inside including workplaces and we can't drink standing up.

 

Oh and we've all done that toilet paper thing again for some unknown reason.

B*gger all happening. Just killing off my last 8 days of work. Managed to walk 2.1km yesterday. Dinner with friends & après drinks at our newest micro-pub.  The dodgy knee is reminding me that it is in charge this morning. Codeine may be called upon to have a word with it. 

 

Nice to see GDB check in. Same for Kelly, although I wish it was better news for her.

Morning all.

It is a pleasant sunny morning here. I filed the bird feeders last night and they were almost empty this morning. The jackdaw family have discovered the suet balls and the flock of baby starlings ate everything else. I am not complaining, going to the shed and getting bird food can be part of my daily exercise. 
One of the medications to prevent side effects from one of my heart tablets in conjunction with the diabetic medication has a side effect that will probably require Imodium if we are to go anywhere today. I am certainly not going anywhere at the moment!

My mobility issues aren't really something new, just expected really with weight gain and chronic illness. I regularly tended to use a mobility scooter at shows, and have had a wheelchair for holidays in the past, just haven't been able to justify getting one until now as there wasn't much need with my own car and a working scooter. With the downsize of car bootspace and the house move pending, it makes more sense to get a wheelchair which takes less space up. The scooter won't go however, as I should be able to replace the batteries if needed.

 

The important thing is that things seem to have settled down with Richard's eyes finally after the saga started in July 2019 with his left eye suffering a detached retina followed by surgeries in March 2020 and the right eye retina detachment in July 2020 followed by a wait until April 2021 for a cataract operation on his right eye, followed again by a wait to be able to get glasses. The fact he can see close up again better will make both our lives a lot less stressful and has allowed him to get back to taking poppy on walks around a local park, which he hasn't been able to do for about 2 years due to his eyesight issues.

 

So whilst my health has declined as expected, I am hopeful it will recover to something more stable without those stresses on me as my fibromyalgia can be rather variable anyway. Hopefully I can manage to shift some weight over the next few months, which will certainly help.

Morning, late on parade, awoke at 6 am, went back to bed for a snooze and slept in, obviously needed it after the exertions of fishing yesterday, clambering up and down steep river banks in waders, in chest high stinging nettles is starting to get a bit too much, I might go Salmon fishing next week, they cut the banks to make them accessible lol.
