What they tend to forget about are the riots that year after the England matches, win or lose. I remember Bedford being mentioned in dispatches - but maybe that is because I lived in Northampton and it was local news! To a certain extent they have also got the rose tinted specs on for Euro 96. But I think that was because England beat Scotland and we have a repeat of that coming up. I remember euro96 well. We had lots of extra officers on duty, just in case, so I came up with a cunning wheeze to keep them gainfully employed. At 3.10pm just after mick off we raided the homes of the biggest 3 drug dealers on the Chequerfield estste in Pontefract. Simon will know it well. We actually got a rounf of applause from the neighbours as we took the scrotes away. Jamie 15 10
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted June 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 15, 2021 'noon. A pleasant day, boiling water using butane, and using the resultant pressurised vapour to promote motion, with a good friend for company. Can't beat it. It was even sunny-ish, 23c but a mite breezy - again. iD, I don't like whisky/ey, and have a hydraulic woodsplitter, so that really just leaves sitting. I'm good at that though, I get lots of practice nowadays, after the manic 6 years running a business in 'retirement'! What's football? Never watch it.

Quite unrelated and sadly coincidental. The mail brought confirmation that I have finally got some work into print. Enough of that here but notable enough to record. In other news the horse-chasing fans are back. Royal Ascot is permitting 12,000 a day into the course. The House of Fun welcomed the first of the week’s topper, tails, frocks and fascinators. This will be followed by the Wombletown ball-bouncing championships for which a full house is being allowed under certain conditions for the finals. Some semblance of Summer-As-Usual is back. I need a visit to Specsavers, I read your last line as = Ann Summers is back

RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted June 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 15, 2021 (edited) Afternoon all, For info - I had a pneumonia jab once I was more or less back to normal after my PE (nothing to do with education) and was told it was 'for life'. However hearing about the possible effects of Covid infection I asked at the surgery at the time of my 2019 flu jab if it would be sensible to have a booster and was toid that they weren't really needed but giving me another shot of it wouldn't do any harm so I got one. For some reason I missed out on the shingles jab in the correct year but when somebody on here mentioned them I duly got myself booked in for one. No ill effects at all from any of these injections. Today I have transported herself to & from her rearranger & trimmer of follicles who is currently only operating from his Marlow branch - a nice trip as it's a pleasant road marred only y crawling dawdlers although I blame not those conducting large commercial vehicles for taking it slowly in places as it's a twisty road. In fact I had no trouble keeping up with a Ferrari on the way back, even after the lorry he was following had turned off Marlow was busy and pleasant but having studied the prices and menu at The Coach (one of Tom Kerridge's establishments) it was clearly after breakfast service had ended and most of the lunches were too big fora midday snack. So I went elsewhere, not bothering with The Ivy while on the way and went back to Strawberry Grove where I had bought an excellent bacon sarnie on our last visit to Marlow. Now of course they're in full café mode and were serving breakfast even after 12.00 so I duly had one - an excellent it was too (the baked beans were in a separate pot si o could be ignored) so would be ideal for herselfs next visit to herself's follicle rearranger. Our local garden centre was visited on the way home for some growbags and then it was into a major traffic delay in the town - all because some pea-brained idiot has installed temporary traffic lights at the top of Station Road without the normal filter arrangements so you sit and wait for ages watching almost nothing go by on any of the other routes. I have made a very strong complaint to my (very) local councillor and if he does not return from this evening's council meeting with an adequate response I shall instruct the management to stop his rations for a few days in order to concentrate his mind on the needs of those who helped vote him into office. Enjoy the rest of your day one and all and stay safe SE's mention of the Farne Islands the other day reminded me of our visit to the Longstone Lighthouse back in 2018 - while we were waiting for the door to be unlocked quite a number of the local residents around Longstone Island seemed to be very inquisitive and taking an interest in us - Edited June 15, 2021 by The Stationmaster

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 15, 2021 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I mentioned the shortage of salads a few days ago. On the news this morning one thing that there is no shortage of is strawberries. In fact their is a glut and even the supermarkets are selling them at knock down prices. 1 hour ago, jamie92208 said: I remember euro96 well. Popular Post Ian Abel
Chewsday... Yesterday I successfully navigated the new company benefits enrolment and the REQUIRED emailing proof of the dependent (the Mrs) I was enrolling! First time in over 25 years ANYONE has asked for proof for insurance purposes. I suspect they had past fraudulent activity, nothing else explains it. Work-wise more changes, another uptick in activity. Later, as the weather was actually NICE, not beastly hot and humid, Whitney got her first walk in her favorite spot - the Peace gardens by a local lake, in over a week. 15 and sunny first thing with a light and pleasant breeze, 28 the expected high. Enjoy the day, stay safe.

Sir TophamHatt
Oof! What a busy day! And was supposed to be my day off. I'm not sure if the weather is just hot hot hot or I'm not used to it. I'm sure it's really stuffy at the moment, which doesn't help with the heat. At least the cool air of the evenings seems to cut through it. 6
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 15, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had to throw some food away earlier, some of the contents of the fridge had gone mouldy, almost certainly down to the fridge being accidently being turned down. Still had enough to make dinner even if it was cold which is preferable in this weather anyway. Time to put the kettle on, be back later. 6
