RMweb Premium polybear Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 4, 2021 Bear started recommenced work on the dishwasher installation, only to be hit by the sudden realisation that the instructions tell you to wind the dishwasher upwards until it contacts the underside of the worktop.... Only there's a slight issue here - the dishwasher is positioned beneath the sink drainer, meaning no worktop for much of the area directly above the dishwasher cos' the worktop has a bl00dy great hole cut out of it to accommodate the sink... So work on fitting the door panel has been postponed until the worktop is fitted - I need to be sure of the exact dishwasher height before fitting the panel, otherwise it might not line up with the doors either side of the dishwasher. It also means the dishwasher securing screws can't go in yet either. None of which is a serious issue on the grand scale of things though. It's hissing down outside , so cutting the tall decorative end panel is postponed too. So work on that will be restricted to unpacking it (again) and offering it up so I can mark where it needs adjustment. After that there's painting of the edges of two small decorative panels to be done - I was waiting to do all panels in one hit, but now it's raining I'll split the job in order to make progress. Bear's favoured Roofer is supposedly appearing shortly in order to give nearly new neighbours a price for sorting their roof gulley (valley?) - Bear hopes to take the opportunity to talk to him about re-felting my roof (probably next year?) at the same time.

We are only a few miles east of PhilJW but it is pouring here. Tony Started pouring here almost as soon as I shut down the lap top. And still pouring as I type. An examination of the fridge contents means that I will still need to venture out to Tess Coes shortly. 4

Not sure if that was a Punjabi or Yorkshire trait. 6 1 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) Good afternoon everyone I don’t usually get round to posting this early in the afternoon, but I’ve just taken a photo of the view from dining room, where I’m sat at the table having a second muggertea. The birds are singing and the sky is blue and I’m sat here enjoying the solitude, just thought I’d just rub it in These doors are directly over the cellar doors, so the view from there is similar, but looking from a different angle. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2021 Normally I would partake of chihs and Fips tomorrow as we'd send someone out for them to keep us warm over night on the guardship. But I am promised a Yorkshire stew... I've been watching the boats starting to arrive for the race, I notice banners have gone up the other side of the river and on some of the bridges.. it's either about the race or Here Be dragons.. The BBC have been in comtact as they want to do a piece about the race.. leaving it a bit late.. others will deal with that..

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2021 Cracking the flags in the North West Leeds Highlands... and it was when we left Derbyshire this morning after a couple of days away with friends.we managed to avoid the nuncties who have a need to climb any sort of large hill (although we did climb up to take a skeg from something called eccles.. but not a cake. Walked along the canal and had a pint in the Navigation.. very nice. (We were forced into a pub in Whaley Bridge to avoid a shower).. Roads back were absolutely nuts.. lots of lorries , caravans and cars with no indicators..pah! Now need to get some laundry done, a trip to the pharmacist then Chish Fips and mushy peas for tea ( last night I enjoyed an old favourite..Brattwurst, curry sauce and french fries .. no chip sauce was available unfortunately. Bratty, chips and chip sauce from a schnelli was good food in Germany) Time to go and.. get onwithit! Baz

Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcup where it has been raining continually since around 8, postponing most outdoor activities. I have been avoiding work e-mails but I can see that those who feel they should not pay any tax at all are getting impatient that we are counselling caution; saving them money of course will cost the company a lot of tax but they seem to have been given their head on this one. However, the way they say they intend to work and how they will add value means they won’t escape UK tax entirely and as PAYE would be involved the company has an obligation to get it right. That will make my return to work next week a real joy. 1

Ian Abel
POETS - and also BIN due to the holiday offset. BINs done and dusted, only leaves POE to complete Jemma arrived yesterday and we decided to go "out" for dinner. Excellent choice at the local eatery. BBQ ribs for me, yum. Today the assembled masses (Jemma and Mrs) are off shopping, quelle surprise, while I toil away, well sort of! This evening there is mention of BBQing, not sure I'm in 100% agreement as it's supposed to be 34 outside by then, add the heat from the BBQ and I'm probably going to melt A large cold drink or two in air conditioned comfort seems a better option??? Weekend unclear though the family are hatching various plans, hopefully much will include THEM shopping leaving ME to my own devices 20 and BRIGHT BLINDING SUN getting the newspaper and retrieving the BINs, 34-36 the high all weekend with high humidity - ugh! Hope the weekend start well for all Edited June 4, 2021 by Ian Abel
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2021 A'noon. Had to rush this morning as friend Jayne was taking her car to the car vets in the Big City at 0830, in fact the other side of the seething metropolis, for expensive gearbox work - and had requested a lift back. Can't say no, especially as it was 7 years yesterday her Gary was killed. Tough week for her. Then back home and it was on to a bike and off to the old farts club for brunch at 10 and a trundle out, which became a longer ride due to the sun and pleasant temperatures, only got back in at 1550hrs. Knackered now, it was really too far for my aching bits, luckily we had several stops. Now I have to cook dinner, and of course haven't defrosted any meat because I was playing out on the bike. I'm in for it. No F n C as that's Tuesdays here. Oh well, better see what I can rustle up. Looks like the bottom of the freezer drawer will get a raid! 3
RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2021 ' afternoon all from red dragon land. Sun here but with a fair amount of various cloud formations around. Light sou'westerlies cooling it down a bit and blowing away the pollen. Easterlies generally the worst for the latter, here. 18C out, warmer in the sun and out of the wind. Toot on the flute good and bad as usual. Page 2 of F minor piece slowly coming together. No.6 bus to Portmeirion is held up waiting for a pot of gold gloss varnish, so I started on a test piece - using bits of moss - of a fir forest on a faraway mountain. It will be laborious if it works, hence the test! Several of my sprigs of an unknown bush (seems it might be a form of Lonicera - nitida, possibly) still looking ok in their pots, so fingers crossed a few will happily take root. Pot of of varnish just turned up. I know what I will be doing tomorrow, then! Fitt and Elfie enjoying the good wevver. Take care all and play safe. ________ Best wishes Polly 19
Popular Post simontaylor484
Disaster has narrowly been avoided here. One leaf of the French door had become jammed on part of the decking. Ultraviolence was deployed and decking plank removed and door freed off. A spare plank is in the Garage and has been cut to length. It has been stained on the underside and will be fitted tomorrow weather permitting. Youngest had a meltdown thinking he had broken the door. He is calming down with Rolo the therapy dachshund 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted June 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2021 Evening Awl, Drizzle arrived around 15:00, just as I left work, I took an odd route home avoiding various road works, that put me onto to roads I haven't driven in 40years. It used to be a unofficial rush hour route from RAF Neatishead to RAF Coltishall, for cars only , very small lanes. Got to the sailing club and the heavens really opened, it bucketed down during the six return trips of 200yards from club house to landrover carrying all the gear. Purchased was this years polo shirt which is red emblazoned of course with Race logo, the race programme was given to me £1 to viewers . The car park was packed with vehicles boats and trailers, many getting wet from above as they unloaded, gear, erected masts and put boats into the water. the rain should clear by replace time. Spoke to the race officer his wishes for my little bit of the event corresponded with my intentions. Visited then the boat yard, motorboat is now safe from sinking, as the two old toilet inlet and outlet fittings have been replaced with fibreglass. Broads boats have had to have holding tanks for 40years plus. Just the generator, then the batteries to be refitted, but the electrician is now on holiday... Time I loaded a kit bag with requirements, and prepared the food bag for filling tomorrow morning. Then SSS and early to bed... 17

Bear restricts such antics elsewhere, namely a trolley dash down the cake isle..... Tall end panel marked (easier said than done) and now ready for cutting, hopefully tomorrow; neither stage is something you want to get wrong - screwing up a two hundred quid lump of wood spoils your day.... Meanwhile, the two short panels have received two coats of MDF sealer on the cut edges that will contact the floor. Two coats of paint await, starting tomorrow (hopefully). Bear's roofer buddy appeared & hopefully will give nearly new neighbours an acceptable price; he'll also give Bear an idea of price regarding a future roof re-felt. Fortunately he has no plans to jack it in just yet - his dad was still up on the roofs at 89 - so he has some way to go yet.... Quite a swarm of them according to this. Personally, I slept though all of it and felt nothing. Noting your post, I had to look it up. I would guess they were located about 250 - 300 miles away. They were quite deep (around 10 miles) and off the southern Oregon coast in a relatively "normal" place for such activity on the Juan De Fuca plate - which is what powers our subduction zone volcanoes.
