RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 2, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I'm not feeling unwell in any way shape or form but I am not feeling very hungry. The meal tonight was a cheese salad with a couple of slices of wholemeal bread with some raspberries for desert. Instead of spending the evening on the computer I've found a novel that I can't put down, so thats the next couple of hours spoken for. Will be back later.

Ozexpatriate
8 hours ago, Tony_S said: As that was on the first LP I bought have been told many times it is dinosaur used as “very ancient’ and a Victrola was a model of a phonograph/gramophone. The one on Mr Fogerty’s lawn was playing Buck Owens. The line "Dinosaur Victrola, listenin' to Buck Owens" from "Lookin' Out My Back Door" by CCR is one of the most difficult lyrics to identify (without liner notes) in all of 'rock' music. It is frequently used in call-in shows to get listeners to identify the line. (It's easy when you know it, almost impossible if you don't.) John Fogarty's dreadful enunciation with CCR is legendary - hence the joke reference to "Bad Moon Rising" being "there's a bathroom on the right' which is so common, it has it's own parody version. Not only that, but John Fogarty actually sang "there's a bathroom on the right" in a live performance of "Bad Moon Rising" as a nod to the frequently misheard lyric, and Hendrix also sang "S'cuse me while I kiss this guy" in a live performance of "Purple Haze". Other good "mondegreens": "Hold me closer Tony Danza" / Tiny Dancer, Elton John "Wrapped up like a douche" / Blinded by the Light, Manfred Mann The internet is full of such things but many years ago (before the www) I saw a parody album commercial for a cheesy compilation album, but all of the video clips were of mondegreens including a misheard lyric from Stairway to Heaven. It was very funny. Edited June 3, 2021 by Ozexpatriate 12
