......Good luck to Captain Cynical, I suppose the good news would be that he actually has a heart.

Regards to all.

Jamie

Chance would be a fine thing...

Of course Captain Cynical has a heart: it’s the finest cesium fusion powered titanium cardiovascular pump technology can provide and money can buy...

Morning, from a 17c warm but slightly overcast rock.

Congrats to Jamie and Beth, on their welding anniversary, as Ian would say.  I recall having black hair too, but it was a long while ago.

The day will be occupied by going to see a machinist about bike parts, trips to the tip with grass cuttings and......some lounging about, hopefully!

M25 is like nowadays - the top section going clockwise over the bridge.  Anyone?)

Lots of speed cameras, not that I assume would worry a well behaved bear. We went round from the A127 to the A10 recently and it was fine. We have frequently pre pandemic driven to Gatwick via the Dartford crossing, and if there were no incidents on the bridge it is fine. If you haven’t been for a while don’t forget to pay the crossing toll by phone or online. There are no toll booths now. I have an account and had an email recently telling me as I hadn’t used the crossing  for a year they would close my account. I wonder why I haven’t been anywhere for a year!  I did something to keep the account active, gave them money I think.

Up at 06-10 this morning, went out and washed the windows and white work before the Sun gets to hot. Back in for a shave, shower and breakfast, as we have  visitors arriving later.

Things to do.

Have a good day one and all, stay safe and well.:dancer:

Morning all.

Happy anniversary to Beth and Jamie. We have an anniversary in June too. Thank you for the reminder. I knew there was something I needed to remember.  It will be forty something years, I will do the arithmetic later. I am just off for an eye test. Routine but I think new spectacles will be required, especially for the reading section of the lenses. Aditi will take and collect me as no driving for a while afterwards.
Have a good day.

Tony

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not a good night last night, the hot weather set the eczema on fire, well thats what it felt like. Aqueous cream was plastered on but only cooled it a little and then Si Attica joined the party. Anniversary congratulations to Beth and Jamie and to anyone else with a celebration today. Muggatee awaits, be back later.

Off to the dentist followed by a trip to the cardiologist for a stress test this morning. What fun! At least by at lunchtime I will have perfectly polished teeth and will know whether or not I have a “dickie ticker“ (I doubt that I do, as everything is rather atypical - but better safe than sorry).

Fingers crossed that the ticker is not dickie!

I have become acutely aware recently of just how much we take what we have for granted and those fortunate with good health (with whom I associated myself until very recently) may find life has a cunning, unseen plan to say "Hold my beer ....."

Anyway, good luck Captain.

I got one of those emails from the Dartford Crossing people last year.  As there was no chance of us using the balance I asked for my money back and got a bank transfer a few days later without any problem.

Sitting on the Patio, and I've done a time and motion study on some Ants. Now if the walked in a straight line, they would walk a quarter of the distance and get twice as much work done in a day. Giving them far more leisure time.

Perhaps it is  their leisure time and have  decided to have a stroll about, even ants get a day off.

The eye test went well. I started to,walk home afterwards but gave up, stood under a shady tree and phoned home for a lift. I have always been a bit “twitchy’ during the OCT test but perhaps a side effect of the heart medication  had helped. No back of the eye or pressure problems. I have started the process for getting new glasses. There are even lenses that can cope with athermic car windscreens now. My present specs stay clear in my car but work perfectly and become dark in the older Fiesta.

Good *Noontime all

Managed to strim both front and back gardens yeterday so my property is looking slightly less neglected.  This morning's activities consisted of feeding the car at Sainsbury in Alperton, visiting the Chinese supermarket next door mainly to buy Saki (they have the strictest Covid measures of any of the local large supermarkets including an automatic step up temperature taking machine)  Then my weekly shop in what is probably the best known art deco building in London. Until a couple of months ago Tesco Hoover Building used to have a filling station but they closed it I think to build yet more flats so I may be transferring my consume loyalty to Waitrose and Sainsbury.

Temperature is in the high 20s but it looks like the thunderstorms will miss us though it's now clouding over. I think the daily consitutuonal can wait till late afternoon.

*Noontime is that period between clock noon and when I have my lunch, an even whose completion defines the beginning of the afternoon.

Stress Test

Did they stress you chemically, physically or both? I was a bit concerned about  the possibility of cycling and although some was involved the stress was created  chemically.

Great news from iD, but was it he, or Captain Cynical that undertook the tests?  I have an image of Captain C thundering away on the treadmill, cape streaming out behind....

Interesting about the specs, Tony.  I was caught out in Captain Cynical-land a few years ago when when my specs did not react on the train to the bright white new snowfall on a sunny day, riding the Glacier Express.  I hadn't thought to take additional sunglasses of any kind, having become blase in the use of reactive lenses.
