I think that the roadways planning department personnel hereabouts studied at the same institute of idiocy as those in Andy Sharpe's neck of the woods as currently it is impossible to get in or out of town without negotiating at least one set of roadworks. I wouldn't mind so much if they left the roads in an improved state but that is emphatically not the case. To quote the Baz - Pah! If you haven’t been for a while don’t forget to pay the crossing toll by phone or online. There are no toll booths now. I have an account and had an email recently telling me as I hadn’t used the crossing for a year they would close my account. I wonder why I haven’t been anywhere for a year! I saw an object lesson in self entitlement as well. Some "Karen" got bent out of shape as she was first in the queue when it opened and the lady with the clip board (err iPad) started calling other names. She went off on a hissy fit whinging she was first there and should have been served first, and that she had to get to work and couldn't wait around. A nice younger girl spoke to the triage lady and the Karen got to queue jump. I did hear an audible "ouch" from the booth. No doubt the pharmacist got the last laugh. I didn't even feel this one, but my arm did throb a bit about 20 mins later on the bus home. I'm with ID on rap. As they say music is like candy you throw the (w)rappers away. Although these days just about all disposable pop, hip hop, "music" contains at least a bit of c-rap as a replacement for the guitar solo of yester year. Doubt any of them would know which end to hold. I could go off on a long rant about the music industry having adopted all the sales, marketing, and product methodologies from the fast food industry. Cheap, full of junk, disposable, and forgettable. Instead, I shall put some of Mr Roger's, and Mr Gilmore's finest compositions on the Sonos. I will leave you with this twitter quote. Like yesterday, the plans are to water the garden and then spend the rest of the day cladding the cellar wall with plasterboard. Today I’m doing the alcove on the other side of the fireplace. It isn’t as big as the section I did yesterday, being only 39 inches wide, so less than a full sheet is required. But, as there is a socket there it will need 2 layers, but the offcuts will fit the side walls of the chimney breast perfectly. I also had quite a bit a bit of hair, long enough that when ever I used one of the lathes at work I had to put it in a pony tail for safety. I don’t have that problem now! Jamie and Beth. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. I hope captain cynical’s test goes ok. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. Next door now have a large amount of concrete which has been used to cover a new "plant pot" area in what had been a lawn. Buildings control have re-appeared so a quick email to ask them some questions (and to ask them to visit as asap) has been sent.. I doubt anything will happen! Roadworks are just nuts around Leeds and Bradford at the moment.. shame they couldn't spend the money on keeping existing road surfaces up to scratch! Time for a mugadecaf! The pigeons seem confused now I have pruned the tree with the feeders in it. They can't quite reach the seeds from a branch now. The jackdaws just sit and observe us. As there was no chance of us using the balance I asked for my money back and got a bank transfer a few days later without any problem. I have always been a bit “twitchy’ during the OCT test but perhaps a side effect of the heart medication had helped. No back of the eye or pressure problems. I have started the process for getting new glasses. There are even lenses that can cope with athermic car windscreens now. This morning's activities consisted of feeding the car at Sainsbury in Alperton, visiting the Chinese supermarket next door mainly to buy Saki (they have the strictest Covid measures of any of the local large supermarkets including an automatic step up temperature taking machine) Then my weekly shop in what is probably the best known art deco building in London. Until a couple of months ago Tesco Hoover Building used to have a filling station but they closed it I think to build yet more flats so I may be transferring my consume loyalty to Waitrose and Sainsbury. Temperature is in the high 20s but it looks like the thunderstorms will miss us though it's now clouding over. I have an image of Captain C thundering away on the treadmill, cape streaming out behind.... Interesting about the specs, Tony. I was caught out in Captain Cynical-land a few years ago when when my specs did not react on the train to the bright white new snowfall on a sunny day, riding the Glacier Express.
