The most common snake in the suburbs here is the Eastern Brown, which makes number 2 on most worlds most venomous snakes lists. I've had 3 or 4 in my backyard over the years, they have anger management issues and will go you if you try to poke it with a stick or something, I just leave them alone and they usually move on somewhere else pretty quick but if it got into my house I'd probably call someone. In contrast, the Red Belly Black, the other usual snake around here is less venomous and also pretty placid in comparison. I had one living in my aviary for a few weeks. I was happy with that since it kept the mice down, I'd just check where it was before walking around in there. Can we have a shudder button please 1

Reminds me of a tale which I may have recounted here before and if so I apologise . When I first qualified I got a phone call from head office asking if I knew where my area manager was as he was required at his flat which was located above one of the company shops. It turned out his ‘pet’ snake had escaped and made its way to the pharmacy downstairs and the staff had refused to go back in until the snake had been recaptured. 16

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted May 27, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 27, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just had an excellent talk on Zoom about the recent East Anglian rail scene. Mustn't say too much here as its verboten but they are now scrapping stock that I remember going into service only what seems like a short few years ago. Then you realise that the newest Mk. III's are about forty years old. I might not bother with Farcebook tonight as its playing up as in dumping you out and asking you to sign in, a right PITA. 6

My brother used to be a telecoms engineer. In the UK he wasn’t required to go up really tall towers (though he had been out on the microwave horns on the former Post Office tower). He said the videos don’t really reflect the real movement as he towers move in the wind too. Anyway when he was in Nigeria he did go up microwave towers to sort out problems himself rather than wait for aerial riggers. On one occasion his boss decided to observe and froze a couple of hundred feet up. My brother roped him firmly to the mast, carried on , remounted the aerial and returned to liberate his boss. 21

A part of most Aussie childhoods is when a "snakeman" would visit the school with hessian bags full of various venomous snakes, open them on the classroom floor and demo how they would react to poking etc, in order to keep us from subsequently wandering around and poking any snakes we might find. This was in the days when your dad would chase them around trying to hit them with a shovel, now we are more enlightened and as a bonus snake bites have gone down, mainly due to blokes no longer chasing them around trying to hit them with a shovel and getting bitten in the process. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted May 27, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 27, 2021 Good evening everyone Well the weather today has been glorious here in England’s northwest, which has made a nice change from all the rain that we’ve had recently. It was perfect weather for both cleaning the car and doing some gardening, sunny but not too hot. Cleaning the car took about me 2 hours altogether, although I did take a short break for a muggertea about halfway through the task. However, the car looks a lot cleaner now, both inside and out, as I thought might as well do the inside whilst I was at it. Once done, I took all the cleaning equipment back to the shed and then made a start on planting a few more camomile, as there were a few plants that I planted yesterday that were very small, so I doubled these with another small plant to make them look a little bit bigger and it all looks a lot better now. There are still a few spare plants leftover, 16 in-total, 10 of the non flowering variety and 6 of the flowering variety. The flowering type have been planted right next to the path so that when you brush past them they will release their scent. The rest of the plants, the non flowering variety will form the camomile lawn area either side of the path. The spares have been potted up in small plant pots and will be used in emergencies, if any of the planted ones don’t make it. After tea I started making the next fruit tea loaf, the dry ingredients have all been put in a bowl with some fruit tea and will be left soaking overnight. I’ll add the flour and bake it tomorrow afternoon. 19
