RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted April 2, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2021 I had a good tidy up in the garage. I should be able to play with cars and trains now. I found all kinds of interesting things I had forgotten about. I think I have matched every tool up with its charger now too. Tony

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted April 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2021 Good evening, seem to have missed this morning. A busy day, walk on the beach first thing, literally not a cloud in the sky, but a rather bracing wind. As in, Skegness. Then working on the garage and garden, friend Jayne came around (we're bubbled) which was nice. The day got really nice indeed as the Skeggy wind dropped, so clear and quiet, hard to think it is going to be so horrible by Monday. Tomorrow we have a friend/ex-employee coming for a distanced outside chat, he's not well so it is going to be really good to see him. Then off on the bikes for a ride, to another socially distanced brew in a garden. We had no new cases today, first time for quite a few weeks, but the great Manx public to seem to be interpreting the new rules rather loosely. Hopefully this will not ruin things.....hmm. 2

Locally in Oregon, our case rate continues to be about one third the national average, sounds good, right? Unfortunately the rate is increasing and is higher than the peak of our second wave, early last summer. The seven-day rolling average is approaching 400 daily new diagnoses and the trend-line has the potential for a fourth wave. The Governor was on television again today, pleading with people to stay the course. Nationally, professional baseball has begun. Opening day was yesterday and already games have been postponed due to players testing positive. Today being Good Friday I am reminded of an awful, truly groan-worthy 'dad' joke from my childhood that I trust everyone has heard numerous times: Quote "What do you get when you pour boiling water down a rabbit hole? Hot cross bunnies." I do miss good hot cross buns. The concept is not unknown here, but come packaged and baked who knows how long ago. Some of them are even iced! They do not compare with my memories of hot cross buns fresh from the bakery. 1

Well, strange you should [both] say that... quite a few years ago, I did have a plan for the back half to be just that. Life and associated distractions meant it never got beyond the initial planning stage but there would have been a decent size space for a model while still leaving a good space for a car and garden tools. Sadly, it is unlikely any purchaser would use the garage for that, though the scope for a workshop/store/utility room should be obvious. But as @polybear pointed out, so long as the price achieved reflects the value/space, the description is less important. I get the feeling I might be disillusioned (rapidly and repeatedly) in dealing with estate agents...

My guess is that it is related to server queuing issues. My internet connection was wobbling at the same time I was posting and might have downshifted to the slower of the two WiFi channels supported by my router. This might have resulted in two post requests being queued up. 1 9

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted April 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2021 I could never be disillusioned with my experiences of estate agents, of have no expectations of them anyway.. Oddity of the day, I'm rereading the "Conjurer of the River Kwai" the life story of Fergus Anckorn 1918-2018 who in his life time managed to be the youngest, the oldest , and longest serving member of the Magic Circle. What's special about that was, he survived the building of the bridge over the river now called the Kwai (after the film). The oddity.. I'm sitting here with this week's bottle of wine lottery from the back of the cupboard, a bottle of Thai wine. It's from the Mae Sai district 500 hundred miles north of the Kwai. 18

It looks like they are almost as common as coffee shops* in the greater Vancouver area. * Just kidding, sort of. 7 minutes ago, pH said: (You may also recognize their parent Australian company!) Popped down to Tesco's this lunchtime only to discover a queue winding along the front of the store and out of site to around the corner. I decided to come back later but before doing so I asked the security lady what time they closed (it turned out to be normal closing time, midnight). But then she told me that I could walk straight in without queueing. I must look really old and decrepit to be allowed that favour. I was hoping to do a bit of the G word this afternoon but the hay fever says otherwise. Heads up for any Carry on fans, ITV3 are showing Carry on films back to back this afternoon culminating with Carry on Screaming at 8 PM. Any thoughts, the back half would be great for a model railway room. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted April 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 2, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I will be finishing off a pack of apple and cinnamon hot cross buns shortly, as soon as the tea has brewed. I enjoyed watching 'Carry on Screaming' for the umpteenth time. One of the best of the genre, and its 55 years old! Part of the background music included the themes from Z cars and Steptoe and son. Thats it for now, be back later.

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted April 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2021 I once found £60 outside the door to my office, three £20 notes screwed up in a ball. I handed the money into our cash office they took a note of where and when I found it and put it in the safe. Six months later they told me that no one had claimed it so the money was mine. Came in handy as I was just about to go on holiday and the extra spending money was useful. It was quite a sum 42 years ago. 18

Baz Baz I would draw your particular attention to Section 6 of the Act which might well apply in this case (it's the bit most people don't know about). Access is an interesting one in that I don't think you can prevent access but equally the word used is 'access' not necessarily movement of plant and materials. The neighbour should ideally serve a Notice under the provisions of the Act in respect of any access intention on his part. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/523010/Party_Wall_etc__Act_1996_-_Explanatory_Booklet.pdf 2 1 9
