RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 23, 2021 Ey up! Hope the holiday comes to fruition Chris! Some confusion on here. A ban on overseas travel from thevuk has been in placecfor a while. The talk is about how long it will be extended for. Of course if you have or can hire your own plane seems like you go wherever you please. Could be that some continental big wigs could be making money out of using one type of vaccine while slagging off a much cheaper (and according to the USA) a perfectly good one. Absolute crass stupidity! Today has an empty page on the calendar. It means I can recover from my discussions with the Marie Celeste..possibly...I await a further call as they were still confused.com about my " appointment" Now, it is time for my mugatea. Stay safe! Hope you and our missing ERs are safe and well. Baz 15 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 23, 2021 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis is a bit quieter this morning but a couple of paracetamol have put him in his place. News from across the pond, yet another mass shooting, this time in Boulder Colorado. As usual nothing much will be done due to American gun culture. The operative word is culture, it will require a massive change in culture before anything is done. Still sorting out the old magazines, a lot of them are still on the floor where they fell. Thats it for now, be back later. 18
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 23, 2021 Morning, rather dull and overcast, but dry. Dull and dry indoors too. I have my second Pfizerisation this afternoon, so I have to go to the Big City for that. Maybe the chip will track me back home. Tank due any moment, todays task for him is dismantling the canopy over the front door for rebuilding with plastic components rather than the rubbish the builders used 18 years ago. It has been on the verge of collapse for some time! NHN has also fallen foul of the 'you don't need to fast' blood test scenario, despite having queried it with the GP. The phlebotomist said just to always fast as it seldom could affect anything else, and make an early appointment with her so I don't get too hungry! The rest of the tests have always been OK since, it won't affect the HbA1c but will show high for the 'on the spot' glucose tests, so why not fast. Baz - it's arrived - but is brass not nickel silver. Pah! 18

America has a terrible record for environmental protection. There are some states that are 'supposed' to be quite progressive, California being the most well known but compared to us and Europe they are so far behind its unbelievable. One of the factors is that because of country being so big there is a tendency to move away from the problem rather than stay put and reuse. There was a fascinating documentary a few years ago about how they get rid of their waste mainly by land fill as they just don't recycle. I'm certain some of our ER's will be able to comment in more detail on this. It is something that i feel quite strongly about given my background. 11
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 23, 2021 Morning All Editor cleared (again) and once I took 30747 to work, went for petrol, and then back via the Post Office to send off a pair of 30747's unwanted and unworn shoes (bought for £25.99 in a sale, and sold for £30 so only a small profit and probably nil after eBay fees), and walking Lily, I can now get back to ERs - only skim read posts, as it appears that today's task is to list a load more stuff to eBay - wow, none is mine apart from three railway books which nobody seems to want - how can I be selling a good copy of Steam Finale North and it not having any interest? And generic greetings are, of course, on offer. Meantime, music lovers might like to hear another offering from Foxes and Fossils, which somehow escaped my inbox, but is IMHO better than Elton John's original - something that this band seem to excel at - with the members in five states in the USA, one must marvel at the production skills involved - even with all the technology, it must take some doing. Andrew P
Well that was a nice but short walk before breakfast today. I've had a really bad back for a couple of days now, so decided that a walk might loosen it up a bit, which it has. Bit dull still, but not so cold so can't complain, and if I do, it won't do much good anyway, so might just as well get on with life, and enjoy every day of it, you never know when it may be your last. And on that cheery note, I will bid you all a good day. Stay safe and well, one and all. 14
Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcup where it is grey but dry. Today sees a call with some senior management who seem determined to write off a very large asset from the balance sheet , which is the consequence of them getting a better personal tax rate. It could be an uphill battle. Other than that there is little to report. I see that in the hierarchy of viruses, the common cold trumps Covid-19. If you have a cold you are unlikely to get covid; if you caught covid 24 hours before you caught a cold, the cold wins out. Apparently some viruses are happy to get along; others, including the common cold, less so. Presumably that is one of the reasons the common cold is so, well, common; another would be that it does not tend to wipe out its host who is always there for a future re-infection and so the actions we take to deal with the common cold deal only with the worst of the symptoms. 10 1 3

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) Good morning everyone Another dull and cool start to the day, but from looking at t(e trees in the school playing fields behind our house, there is very little wind. I shall start tanking the wall today, as there is only a small section to do, I’ll only need to mix a small batch and it shouldn’t take long to apply. When that’s done, I’ll give the floor a mopping to prevent dusty footprints again and then do a bit of gardening. As for banning or fining people for foreign travel, what's taken them so long? Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. Brian. Edited March 23, 2021 by BSW01 18
Popular Post jonny777
Grey but dry here in North Somerset, as well. However, the last couple of days have started this way but the sun has appeared by lunchtime and the afternoons have been very pleasant. Therefore, I remain hopeful. I placed my bowlful of muesli on the arm of the settee while I opened the curtains in the living room. Next thing I know there is a strange noise behind me and the bowl has tipped off the arm, with the muesli and milk spread artistically onto the cushion of the sofa. Being a 'waste not want not' kind of person, and to teach me a lesson; I scooped up all the muesli back into the bowl re-filled with milk and have eaten it now. I just had a call from the coal merchants asking if I wanted another pallet? I had to decline as I am not even half way through the one I bought earlier in the winter. What do they think I am running here? A blacksmith's forge? 3

Anyway, I stayed in the cellar all day, apart from going outside to since out my bucket and an old cloth. The brickwork around the fireplace has been stripped of paint and is now ready for varnishing. The fireplace itself will be the next thing to tackle as I want to get all the old blacklead of it so that it can be painted. I’m going to spray paint it using a can, but instead of using a can indoors (not recommended) I’m going to decant some paint into a jar and use my airbrush. I’ll have more control over the amount of paint going on and it’ll also reduce the amount of overspray too! Before all that takes place, there are some small bits of pointing to do to the brickwork, to replace that which has been dislodged during the paint stripping process. Here’s a photo showing how it currently looks After tea I collected our prescriptions and completed the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix. The last few items were acquired for the kids Easter presents, oh, and there was an offer on wine, so the wine cellar was restocked as well. I guess you are not planning to use the fire if you are using paint and varnish, those items and heat/flames sounds a dangerous combination. 3

Beary alternative to fining people: They lose their passport for life (or at least ten years, if you're feeling sympathetic). That'll really make 'em think - including those who are totally loaded (such as premiership footie players). Tiling going well . Bear has finally got around to transferring the contents of his remaining collection of heart-shaped Marmite tubs - collected over many moons during business trips involving stays in hotels ; the better hotels have these as an alternative to the usual tubs of marmalade or jam. Very useful items for taking on holiday (but the collecting got a little out of hand) - sadly not much danger of holidays for the foreseeable, so I decided to empty them into a Marmite jar. Not sure how many (easily in excess of a hundred) - but they filled an empty half-kilo jar. This is the second time I've done this - the collection is now dead....RIP. Sadly I've yet to find a hotel that does the same with LDC though - but there are numerous ones that offer various sticky pastries at brekkies. It may come as some no surprise to learn that various establishments have taken a serious hit on the cake front when marauding Bears roll up for brekkies (best done before the Hippos awaken); the fry-up buffet is often rapidly depleted too. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 23, 2021 The coal merchants are getting into a panic now as they have only a couple of months before it becomes Illegal to sell many varieties. They are offering a big discount which will only increase as the 1st of May gets closer. I too was contacted last night, but having a pallet load dumped by the road side via a 40 ton artic on a single track road is a no go. It happened last time and I found SWMBO struggling to move 25kg bags of coal into the garden when I got home.. We have however around 4 ton in the garden, that's 3 years worth. By then they should have sorted out what we can burn.. Using tanked gas or electric is Darned expensive. Meanwhile this major system is having a rerun on millivolts, I don't like last nights answers.. So I'm wandering the net again getting ever more confused on Rudder design.. 1 1

I do believe that the government has launched a new scheme once gas central heating has been phased out. It is supposed to be good for the environment that has health benefits as well. Its going to be called S.G.E.H.B which stands for Self Generating Electricity Health Benefit - catchy title isnt it. Anyway all that's required is for twenty foot hamster wheels to be installed in all properties. I also believe that you will be able to take out a loan at 6% interest to pay for it. Rich people and keen environmentalists are being encouraged to have more than one. I also understand that there will a be 'family' option so that the wife and offspring, Tarquin and Jezabelle can have their own wheels to power the cooker and play station. Its estimated that if 50% of the population spend seven hours on there wheels it will produce enough energy to recharge the electric car within forty eight hours. Coming soon to a couty near you.
