RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22, 2021 Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, 3 hours long awake, 1 hour + indeterminate dozing, not a good night.. Mostly because a lot of joints ache. I suspect this is because I shifted the keel yesterday, at corners of the route, the back end of the trolley had to be lifted while pushing, so the front wheels stayed on the boards. So I was lifting near 90KG pushing 180KG. Ben enjoyed himself out there, having a good snuffle around, dry but chilly, I had to De ice the windscreen. Most of the road works into work have cleared, so it was a good run in, Until Effin clown Town, where I came across a long tailback, which I followed the 6 miles to the NDR, It was caused by four 30mph Tractors , Each towing a very large trailer, Unexpectedly they carried on into Norwich.. and I turned right. Discovered I've made a Boo Boo, the mudguards I've got for the trailer are for normal Tyres, the trailer will have flotation tyres.. Normal mudguards 180mm Wide.. I need 220mm wide.. So do I, Buy a new set @ £20 each, Buy another normal set at £7 each and rivet the two together, Bodge something on one side to widen each mudguard, Fibreglass up a set myself.. or The most likely, cut each one in half lengthways and then fibreglass them together with 40mm extra apart.. If I do that, I'll wait till the wheels are on and measure how much is actually needed.. Never seen the Aurora even when living in the Hebridies and Inverness, Mind you when living in Inverness, the school hostel wouldn't have let us out at night.. Living now in Norfolk, even if the Aurora was very strong, the orange lighting of Bacton gas works to the north would hide it. Last weeks 2nd major system passed OK over the weekend, I'm on the first of this weeks, It's the lone old one left of it's type and has a considerable amount zeroing before I really get started. Time to .. Do another bit.. 22
RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22, 2021 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Came down this morning to find that the pile of magazines has slipped and are all over the floor and I have to start tidying them up. But breakfast and a muggatee or two comes first. 3
Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcup, where the early morning sun is slowly being replaced by clouds. There was no time to catch up on all the pages I have missed since I last posted. This weekend I was one of 800,000+ who was jabbed. I arrived at Queen Mary's at 9.27 (for an appointment 9.40-9.50) and joined the queue that was snaking through the hospital suitably distanced. It was all run with almost military precision and I was out of the door having been vaccinated by 9.42. I've got a slightly sore arm and felt a little bit tired but otherwise no side effects. The other highlight of the weekend (for we are so reduced in ambition, that it has become such) was to give the lawn its first mow of the year. I had to stop frequently to remove the mud that was coming up with the grass but at least it should all get a chance to dry off a bit more now. I do hope Chrisf manages to get his sleeper car journey, although the government are doing their best to dampen over-enthusiasm. When I was a teenager we got the train down to Dover and the hovercraft across the channel. From Calais we got a train complete with sleeper cars all the way to the south of France. I remember waking to the sunflower fields of the Rhone Valley. Have a good day ll.
Popular Post jonny777
A grey but dry morning in North Somerset, and no wind. The washing dried well yesterday and it was pleasantly warm when the sun came out, and I managed to get the step ladder and use a spirit level to check the top of my rain gauge on the shed roof. As I suspected it was leaning backwards a little which meant the tipping bucket rain gauge inside was not balanced properly and needed more weight of water on one side to the other. I also took advantage of a spring day to check the irises, which came by post earlier in the month, and I planted in bare ground at the back of the pond. They seem to be ok; at least none look dead, and a few have green shoots beginning to appear which is a relief. When they all reach full height, their leaves will fill a large gap in that area even if they do not flower in their first season here. Now to read the paper......

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2021 Good morning everyone Another dull, but dry start to the day here in England’s northwest. Today will see me once more, scraping paint from the cellar walls, but this time it’s hopefully the last of the paint from around the fireplace. There isn’t much to do and I’m hoping 1 day will see it done, but then as quite often happens, there could be some tricky bits so I’ve set aside an extra day, just in case. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. Brian 17

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22, 2021 been for a walk.. dry but a fairly thin chilly wind here. Cricketers out practicing in twos across a huge cricket field... Now, I am amazed! The Marie Celeste is still crewed! I have just had a letter to nook my diabetic review (only 15 months late(!) BUT.. they don't answer the phones and they say it must be an important reason to ask for a review.. does the crew of the Marie Celeste actually talk to each other in the same language? I fear not. I will try and get it sorted by using signal flags, lamps and any other form of communication I can... Baz

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2021 I went to empty the used tea leaves into the kitchen caddy and there was a tan coloured substance in there that wasn't there last night. Popular Post Pacific231G
Got the Census done yesterday . National identity British, European, Welsh (so was still reeling from Saturday evening's rugger) I'm not a great rugby fan but, being Welsh (both parents not birth) not a happy welsh rabbit. Terrific game, well refereed, either team would have deserved to win but still terribly disappointed that Wales lost the Grand Slam in the last minute. The French victory didn't stop me enjoying my usual Sunday petit dejeuner of baguette, croissant, cheese, French marmalade and milky coffee. (All that was supposed to be yesterday's ER update but I omitted to post it.) With the paths less muddy than of late I walked to the top of the local hill (85m) before lunch so heart and lungs still clearly in good shape. Today I should get to work on the society Journal so will probably vacuum the house instead. Breakfast today was fruit and Greek yoghurt followed by veggie bacon and egg with mushrooms.

Popular Post Ian Abel
Morning... Will try and catch up from Friday! Busy weekend, Friday taken up taxi service for the Mrs to various appointments. walking Whitney and other trivial pursuits. Saturday we managed some "spring" cleaning even though spring is barely here in this part of the globe. Also went to a local garden shop who were having a "by reservation" socially distanced review of all things patio. We plan to redo our patio this year. Heard in the evening that our friend in Arizona managed to suffer a Transient Global Amnesia event (TGA), taken to the Emergency and kept overnight. Very worrying especially since she was only chatting with the Mrs on Friday. Was released Sunday, having recovered from what seems to be one of the strangest things one can get! Saturday evening had dinner with Trevor and Meagan at their house, all of us vaccinated now, so it was nice to be able to do that. Sunday more spring cleaning, boy when you spend a year "locked up" it's amazing the amount of clutter you don't bother to manage since no-one is coming over for a visit/dinner/etc! Survived the major effort, but plenty more to go/do. I even found some model railway stuff that I'd partly forgotten I had given it was boxed up and out-of-sight Weather improving here, with a fairly pleasant weekend overall. Today taxi service punctuating work as the Mrs has three appointments for various scans and PT related to her knee issue. 2 first thing, headed for 14 and partly sunny all day. 1
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2021 Afternoon All So sorry - been AWOL again, largely due to having to use the only working laptop in the house (the old one finally gave up the ghost last week - RIP Samsung but its operating system was obsolete (W7), and also it needed about £200 spending on it to get the hard drive sorted, and W10 installed - just not worth it) for activities related to Ebay. It has been worth it, though, as we bought six Maileg mice at the A6 car boot a couple of years ago, and thought that they were a decent buy at £15. Just sent the last one to Belgium for £58, and the total of them all is somewhere close to £350 - apparently, some of them were VERY rare indeed - it was luck, as we didn't know when we bought them. This came into my inbox the other day, and is a very jolly offering from the most excellent Foxes and Fossils - which I'd guess would mean more in the USAm but it's fun wherever it is being heard - hope you like it. With a hope that I can visit a bit sooner next time. Regards to All Stewart 16
