I missed my Nana dangling me over a bridge to watch Mallard go past. It must have been a busy engine as it always passed by when we were there. Instead I grew to love Britannia. Actually Shenfield and Brentwood were pretty hip in the sixties. We had three places for bands. I particularly remember seeing Spooky Tooth in the hall used by the Ursuline High School for girls. The girls were the best looking in the area. That was just before Spooky released their first album - I was impressed by them. The Gun - were the loudest! The Small Faces the most expensive at 15 bob! In Chelmsford I saw Fleetwood Mac jamming with The Nashville Teens (Fleet wood Mac were supposed to be playing a gig in Witham)... John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers were always at the Corn Exchange. Best band in Chelmsford were Focus, great fun. I had to drive to Epping to see Free at a Pub and got soaked by Paul Kossoff's sweat - he was a very sweaty kid. This was just before "Alright Now" was released and they played two different versions of it; all four of them squashed together on an 8 foot square stage. Best gig ever, what a band! Plus I could be in London in 25 minutes on the train. Three quarters of our school were in London (although I had left by then and was working with one of my musical heroes) to see Blind Faith. Pete. That list of bands brings back memories for me Pete. Having grown up in a small village in the Yorkshire Dales, I came to London for what would no be called a gap year in 1971. I did see The Strawbs at Fairfield Halls, then in the summer one Saturday went to a free concert in Hyde Park and saw, Heads Hands and Feet, Humble Pie and the Grand Funk Railroad, my mate and I moved on to Dagenham and in the back room of a pub saw Wishbone Ash, tiny venue but a great gig. I seem to remember a white Fender Flying Arrow. Then the last tube back to Hounslow West. Happy Days. Thought not..... Bear had a fairly unproductive day - a bit more painting done (part of the door frame, also the washing machine supply pipe) and tomorrow should see them finished. Also the verticals marked in the correct places (hopefully!) for applying the lining paper, courtesy of a plumb bob & line. Apart from that, not a great deal. Must get my little furry ar5e moving tomorrow - clock's ticking.... In other news: Bear noted with interest that Gwyneth Paltrow has kindly shared her undoubted expertise and wisdom regarding the treatment of Long Covid, apparently being a sufferer. Such treatment involves the use of various obscure and expensive alternative remedies; fortunately her very own website and company just happens to sell them. How thoughtful Isn't it lucky then that as you haven't got long covid Mr Bear you're be spared the cost of purchasing any of the costly........... . So more pennies for LDC.

Popular Post andyram
Evening all. Congratulations to Dom and Elsie. Also many happy returns to Jill. Today we have had decent weather with some good spells of sunshine. Three different walks were undertaken today (shhhhh don’t tell Boris). Actually all were related to collecting Sarah’s Avon books. No wonder my phone recorded over 15,000 steps today. The most achieved in a single day all year by a long way. No wonder the legs feel a bit tight now. Night all. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted March 7, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 7, 2021 Good evening everyone Dom. Congratulations on the arrival of Livia, I hope both mother and daughter are well. Dave. Happy birthday to Jill, may there be many more. The sun kept shining this morning, although it did go a little grey this afternoon. However it never really warmed up, staying in single figures all day. I had to shut the workshop door this afternoon, as once the sun disappeared it got a little colder, but I didn’t need to resort to switching the heater on, like I had to do yesterday morning. Well today’s efforts in the workshop have been more successful than yesterday’s. My first task this morning was a bit of a tidy up of my bench, as there was lots of paint tins, brushes, tools etc lying around, which were not needed for today’s tasks. I then repaired one of my propelling pencils, as the brass lead holder became separated from the inner, spare lead holder. But a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue soon sorted that out. Once that I removed the 4 opto photo-interruptor PCBs from the indexing table of the turntable. These are small, plug in units which are held in place by 2 small screws, so removal was painless and very straight forward. I then trimmed down each PCB, removing the sides with the slots that are too small, thus narrowing the whole board. I then measured up and made the 4 new carrier plates. I managed to get them finished before dinner and they were then left on the bench waiting for the glue to set whilst I went in and ate dinner. After dinner I then drilled 2 slots, (one each side), in each board, this now gives me approximately 5mm lateral adjustment, more than enough. Finally, I positioned them on the indexing table, so I could mark out 2 new fixing holes for each one. Once I’d drilled 2 pilot holes for each that was it. I re-fitted them, leaving the screws slightly loose, so adjustments could be made. After a quick preliminary test and all looked ok, with the bridge stopping very close to perfect each time, it just need a little lateral adjustment. As it turned out, I didn’t need to adjust the height of the actuating pin, as it worked well enough with its original setting, which surprised me. I then started setting it up properly and had done 2 of the 4 roads before it was time to come in for tea, I’ll finish off next weekend. 17 1

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all Much of yesterday was devoted to cooking a chicken, eating some of it and reducing the carcase to its component parts. From the ruins will rise a risotto later today and there should be plenty of meat left for further processing. There was also an outbreak of ironing, during which I realised that a pair of nominally white trousers needs further treatment with a washing powder of my choice. Not just yet though. This morning I will stroll or possibly hobble to the shops at the end of the road to buy my lottery tickets. One thing I will not be doing is watching Harry and Meghan's interview. The more coverage it gets in the news media the less interested I become. This is clearly going to be one of those days when we are to be left wondering what else is happening in the world. Never mind, I'm used to being in a minority. It might have been yesterday but more likely the day before when I took the vegetable peelings through the garden to the compost bin. Apart from two daffodils in bloom, one more than last year, it was not a pretty sight. Sooner or later I shall have to grasp the nettle - and there are plenty of those! - and start ripping out extraneous vegetation. It is a daunting prospect and I'm not quite in the mood just yet. Perhas I shall look on it as a pleasure yet to come. Best wishes to all Chris 20

It was part of the cover of "The Who Sell Out' allbum which included a lot of jingles that they recorded for Radio London, as well as some spoof ones. It's a good album. Good moaning to all. It's sunny but chilly out, only 3 degrees. Notva bad day yesterday, market, zoom church service, then a walk round the village and some slide scanning. I've now done nearly 400 of this batch, but one box is still awol. This morning we aim to start rearranging the living room ready for the furniture to arrive from the UK. Maybe some more shed time later. Regards to all. Jamie 19 1

Never mind, I'm used to being in a minority. Bear will watch with some interest, though it's not the sort of thing I'd normally be too bothered about. If the reports on the BBC news website are true then Bear can understand why they are somewhat p1ssed off; I guess that once William was married off and had his first rugrat Harry was no longer the "spare" heir and dropped in the pecking order somewhat. I can't help but feel that Meghan should've done her homework a bit better - and had opened her eyes a bit wider - before marrying though - it was always gonna be a rough ride (though it shouldn't be); past history with Princess Diana, the media and the Royal Family appears to have been forgotten, whilst it should've been remembered as a very loud warning. Bear's mate Ernie has bestowed twenty five note's worth of LDC into the SCR (though some may be intercepted and re-directed into Bear's cake tin en-route). So fellow ER 'ers may wish to keep upwind as the bath will have to wait a bit longer I'm afraid; as for Bear joining that memorable club frequented by Del and Rodders, sadly that appears to have been delayed for another month at least. Still, Bear can console himself by dangling on some bits of wallpaper and a paintbrush today, so all is not lost..... 19
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted March 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 8, 2021 (edited) Morning, from a damp Fraggle Rock. Showers early doors, followed by more. Back to normal March then. Mrs NHN safely off to her new work, her main office is above the horse tram shed in Douglas (the Big City) but she is to have several outposts to look after. It's going to be odd as currently her real estate is one bare desk - there isn't a thing on it, hopefully the computer will arrive today! Her new boss is self isolating and has only been in post three weeks, and his boss can't take up his role as there is no replacement for him elsewhere in the Department of Infrastructure. Covid Chaos. It is all to set up totally new systems from scratch, so there's not even anything to slot in to, going to be very strange for a few weeks for her. RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted March 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 8, 2021 Morning Awl, Inner Temple Hare, 4 hours sleep long gap, 1 hour ish sleep not enough.. Ben the changeable Collie wanted out, So I let him out and went to the land rover to drop off my bag, turned round.. No Collie.. He was still stood at the door, watching me, I had to go back, give him some reassurance, then he reluctantly wandered on out.. Made one big splash then ran back to the house. Land rover, Yep having seen the forecast for the rest of the week, today is the only reasonable day for loading a 8X4 sheet of 3/4 inch MDF onto the roof of the Land Rover.. The rest of the week being heavy rain and gales.. This morning on the way in no change in traffic due to the schools being back, normally it's heavier when they are in attendance.. There was the normal extra traffic as the second homers head back to London for the week. Going back via the orange shed also avoids the worst of the 4 schools I normally pass. It will be chaos out there.. Two separate lone bushes in the hedgerows have burst into white flowered life, both of course very sheltered south ish facing.. I was able to turn off the lights on final approaches to work as it was easily light enough. Two major systems this week, the first is now well under way.. Time for .. The next measurement.

RMweb Premium TheQ Posted March 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2021 I too won't be watching the interview, My comments on the clips shown on the news.. Megan claims to have her keys taken off of her... What keys? she has no property in the UK, no car. The Security guards of palaces have external keys in the guard room.. Internal Rooms are locked from the inside, with the resident key. She had no keys to be taken off of her.. She claims to have had her license taken off of her.. Well it was no longer valid past the grace period. As a British Citizen her US driving license would have to be changed to a UK one.. 4 2 1
Popular Post jonny777
Another dry and bright morning in North Somerset. One of my water butts has sprung a leak, which is not good news with the driest part of the year fast approaching. What is more, the split in the tank is right down towards the bottom near the bulge where it turns in towards the base. Where the pressure of 250kg of water (when full) just helps to open the wound even further. My plan is to tip a decent amount of sealant inside and then use a paint brush, gaffer taped to a bamboo cane, to smear the thick liquid around the split area, then leave to dry. I will paint sealant around the outside as well and hope this will work. If not, a new butt will need to be purchased. 1
