RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted February 21, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 21, 2021 (edited) Today's exercise took in an illicit trip across the border. After all, Yorkshire does come within about four miles from our house so much closer than BoJo's flat to the Olympic Park. We were using our electrically assisted machines and to evade the attention of our over-zealous Covid Patrol reached the border by an unsurfaced route at 1300 feet above sea level. Judging by the large gatherings at several popular venues Plod had given up the unequal fight and retired for tea and buns back at the station. My SiL is a Practice Nurse - they had a guy in his 30's that was having a full english 3 times A DAY. His view: "if it ain't fried it ain't worth eatin'...." She tried without success to convince him this wasn't the best of diets, so arranged cholesterol tests. Apparently they were "off the scale". Still it didn't sink in. It did a couple of years later when he had a TIA (mini-stroke). RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 21, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 21, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I might very soon have a layout, a chap was offering a couple of micro layouts for sale on Facebook at what looks like a very reasonable price. What is more he only lives in Southend so collecting the layout won't be a problem. 21 minutes ago, Coombe Barton said: ... and absconding chickens ... https://johncolby.wordpress.com/2021/02/21/doing-me-stuff/ Perhaps someone had chicken for dinner today.
Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Been relatively busy day so haven’t managed to read all posts but as always I hope everyone is well, but I feel politics are creeping in. Tut tut. Flavio, thanks for the offer but Brains trust meeting... hmmmmm. What s slightly fortunate with regards fetching ‘provisions’ back to the UK is that I’m allowed a free bag for my special food. Obviously I take certain items with me that get consumed whilst away and this means I can bring other items that aren't available back home, for example the zwie bak. In 2019 I was lucky enough to travel to Europe three times so built up a good supply but obviously that was exhausted months ago. As for today, as mil wasn’t bothered about a walk SWMBO and myself went a bit further than usual and got home early afternoon. We decided to visit my mums unoccupied house in town to check on security and load a couple of wardrobes into my van with the intention to delivering them to her new flat in Newark as soon as we can. More time and energy was needed than I’d envisioned. In the process of moving them down the stairs we managed to knock the pendant light at the top of the landing and caused it to short and take out the circuit. Reset the switch and proceeded down the stairs and then did the same thing in the hall way. Bu88er. The bottom one has come off the ceiling completely, it looks as the two wires in their terminal blocks are the only thing holding the weight of the shade. By the time we’d finished dismantling and moving the furniture it was too late and dark to look at the lighting problem. I’m no electrician but will have a look at repairs sometime next week but in the meantime I’ve isolated the circuit. I read that we’re back on the subject of cakes so I’ll tell you what I’ve been having recently. SWMBO made me my favorite coffee cake (no wall nuts, I’m allergic to them) mid week which I finished yesterday and we’ve also just finished a home made jam roll poly. Both very nice. Goodnight Robert 16 1

Though I agree with the sentiment I know of a few instances where family members have been allowed in to be with their dying relative. Usually it is with full PPE so I imagine it will be the same here. 1 5

When I last saw it the BBC correspondent mentioned his “being in good spirits”. I was aware that more recently people have been allowed to see dying relatives but until you mentioned it, I didn’t realise this was the reason for the Royal visit.
Erichill16
Talking about possible misbehaving in lock down, as SWMBO and myself passed the local fishing club lake we noticed it was rather busy. There were about 20 cars there and to put that into perspective on a good day without lock down there’d probably be about 30. Is fishing classed as exercise, I know it’s a sport?I don’t think they’re fishing for ‘food’ as they put the fish back. On a similar note, there seems to be quite a lot of shooting going off. If I can’t sleep tonight I’ll give it some more thought. Robert 12

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted February 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 22, 2021 Good evening everyone Its been a lovely day here, quite warm, in fact warm enough to be able to leave the workshop door open whilst I was inside. Quite a bit of progress has been made with the linking piece to go between the turntable and the test track. However, I’ve had to replace 2 sections of the test track, so that they now reach the end of the board. Next weekend, I’ll make a start on cutting and laying the track on the interlinking piece. I’ve included a photo that shows how the home-brewed textured paint looks after it’s dried, I’m quite pleased with how it’s turned out. This evening ting I spoke to my brother in Canada. As is the norm, we just chatted about general stuff, he informed me that they’ve had quite a bit of snow of late and that it's stuck around too, they still have some at the moment. 20
