The Lurker
I was a fan of the Toy Dolls version of Nellie the Elephant too! I reported blue skies earlier. That was followed by quite a lot rain, and now blue skies again. 7 calls down. Possibly only 1 more to go! 10

The first is the standard classical version, then I also have the ELP version, and I also have a version played solely on a church organ. As someone who is very keen on organ music, the latter was a 'must' for me. It is now a rather wet and nasty day. It is dry this morning, so we got out for a short 1 hour walk. Any more than that just now, and I am totally knackered. Just never seem to get any fitter. This afternoon, has been spent happily listening to The Doors Morrison Hotel, whilst ballasting the layout. Some good progress has been made.

Popular Post Ian Abel
BIN day... panic ensued! Last evening, seeing no other BINs out, expected/assumed (always BAD choice) that given Monday was a public holiday, the BINs would be a day later! WRONG! Woke up to rolling BIN truck convoy, hastily dressed and managed to get the BINs on parade before our service arrived <phew> Yesterday, as predicted, client started in ernest with year-end report changes... Also, a package DELIVERY After years of waiting, spares now available again, and sent at "sensible" cost from an ER - thanks, much appreciated, you know who you are Today - we get our second COVID shot, 2PM the scheduled appointment. Some reports the second has a greater affect on one than the first, so we're planning to potentially be less than 100% tomorrow and possibly into Saturday. We'll see... -15 at the panicked rush to get the BINs out, cloudy and light snow falling. -12 the expected high. Right, off to start the "day", stay safe... 18 1

Must have been diabetics day, I was the slimmest in the room. That takes some doing so it felt good. Interestingly the jabber said you will get a sore arm, temperature and headache, just manage it with paracetamol. I'm just about to do the same with my home & contents insurer, an accumulated number of admin 'mistakes' leads me to question how they might deal with a claim. Good point, however this supplier offers a huge range of cabinets (900) in 14 different cabinet widths - others don't appear to come anywhere close to this; the spec is also good too - no hardboard cabinet backs, for example. Other suppliers want a lot more of the folding stuff for the same (and usually less) product. It'll be a straight corner cabinet for this Bear - I've now calculated that by doing so i can add a slightly larger 2nd cabinet alongside when compared to using an L shaped cabinet & smaller 2nd cabinet; this gives more storage room for unbuilt loco kits Edited February 18, 2021 by polybear 17

Aditi got the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine so didn’t have to wait afterwards. There was more to do before the jab than for my GP organised one. Paperwork needed to be shown and confirmed. Then there was an ethnicity question, Aditi said the receptionist seemed confused by her answer even though it was one of the options on the form. Then the nurse who injected her had the same health questions I had to answer. She wasn’t very long and we were on our way home quickly. No trouble parking, Southend Council allowed 2 hours free parking for Covid clinic visits.

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted February 18, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) next door we have stupids.. why? The guy digs a trench to put wall foundations in (excavated soil/plants etc dumped on what had been the lawn). No drain fitted (I did warn them but they know best as they are "builders"). All the water from our garden and their garden fills trench up. Cement lorry arrives.. so they tip the cement into the water filled trench.. then "level it off" using a plank and two pieces of 4 by 2 used as "handles". Trench now full of more water (its raining!) and it looks like ordinary cement to me... could take a while to dry.. I have a bet that tomorrow the man in the van will come back to build the "mini wall" .. and will pump the water down their drain....erm.. no problem there then They have gone to check planning as I have told them they can't have anything non permeable on the pile of mud which was a front garden...DoH! The retired builder over the road has stood and laughed all day! He was almost beside himself after looking in the trench from the footpath..
