I had to cover a Year 7 music lesson that involved the school's class set of ukeleles. I wasn't a fan before and am not now. When I find the person who thought that was a good use of that school's music department budget, I shall have a few things to say.

I've never been particularly into music although I know what I like (which very definitely includes 'the Ukes' as the Ukulele Orchestra of GB are sometimes known).   I have only purchased one record in my entire life and it was by Argo Transacord and I could only play it by sticking pieces of balsa wood under the regulator of our gramophone (an old mech in a new wooden case my father had made) to slow it down from 78rpm to 45rpm - quite easy to get ot right with a nice sharp Swindon exhaust beat on the record.  Oh and could somebody put me out of my misery and explain what a cover version is because all I can conclude is that it is the piece of music that features on the cover of the packaging a record or dvd etc is sold in - am I on the right track?  But some nice pieces have had a mention in recent posts even if I know very little about most of them.

 

I do know rather more about the weather and the rain has now stopped while the seaweed twirlers of Isca Dumnoniorum are promising  some 'sunny intervals' later today but currently we have a 100% cover of grey cloud. 

 

Last night's Chinese takeaway came with an interesting version of 'duck in plum sauce' as it contained considerable quantities of pineapple - I suspect a major error somewhere in the procurement/supply process but I will not attribute blame although I have my suspicions.  Sorry to hear of Andyram's problems witha particular supplier but to be honest I'm not at all surprised by what he said as everybody I know in the trade has had problems with them at some time or other or over quite a few years but I understand the reps can often get things sorted so Andy might like to have a chat with his rep?

@polybear Norlin were an Ecuadorian company who bought various music instrument makers (like Gibson) they also "sold" Various other musical items into the Uk.. including a certain electrical organ which was used to provide the them tune for Parkinson on the BBC.

 

 

Quel surprise.. they dug these big foundations.. dumped it all onto what had been the lawn.. and.. the trench is now flooded.. told him to fit the ground drains first.. clueless!

 

I seem to be Ok post jab although I did go to bed early last night.

 

Zoom meeting 1 down.. a bit of muddling then 4 of the original Challenger 2 Design Team will be setting the world to rights later on.

When it comes to music her indoors is very talented.. percussion, flute, recorders, oboe, clarinet, piano, crumhorn, shawm, gemshorn.. and these items cost LOTS of Muddling Tokens(!)

 

She gave up the timpani as I said we had no room in our first home (nor in this one ) to store them!

Norlin is a company that used to own Gibson Guitars (presumably even in the snow covered wastes of the Artic they have heard about "guitars")

Lucille was BB King's guitar, a modified (no F-Hole) Gibson ES-355TD-SV it (and its predecessors) was named after a woman called named Lucille who caused a fight that ended in the dance hall burning down. BB King almost ran into the building to save his guitar and later called every guitar he subsequently owned, Lucille, as a reminder never again to do something as stupid as run into a burning building or fight over a woman

Afternoon all.

 

Turning into a lovely day here with the sun out and nice bluey cumulus clouds.  This morning, was pouring it down with rain.

Now I have a long weekend off and it's Baby Sir Topham Hatt's birthday on Saturday.  Wow!  Where the hell has that year gone!?

He get's his promotion to "Master" now though

Still sunny here too, but wind is reaching 'uncomfortable' heading for 'hooley'.  Ferries predicted to be orf again, although as the UK is cut off anyway it shouldn't make much difference..... 

 

We also have a couple of covid scares ongoing, they seem to be contained and traced, one of them looks like it may be the result of someone being naughty having contacted a relative who is self isolating on arrival here then visiting a public venue.  Will people ever learn, if we have to lock down again there will be difficult times ahead for those people's families in the community.  Its a small island.....with long memories.

Now I am sure this is just a coincidence but I have just received an email about a Fender Telecaster in White Blonde finish from a local music store. 
I am on their mailing list as I bought Matthew a bass guitar years ago. Odd that such things were mentioned earlier.

Good luck. There are additional security measures in place. There is a secret detachment  (thanks to Kelly kindly provided by SSS a subsidiary of SFI) that is that secret they don't know who they are....

Ahhh, but previous mention (any mention) of the word "Cake" provokes an impending attack.  Only certain words makes such targets off-limits.

 

Bear created a mock-up plan of a Kitchen cabinet "L-shape" base unit out of lining paper; buddy next-door and I then determined that it wouldn't fit thru' my front door.  Turdycurses.

Alternatives are:

1. Order it dry-assembled, and then disassemble it on delivery to create a flat-pack.  Most likely in the dark, when it's poring with rain.  Hmmm.....

*The manufacturer has responded to my email and confirmed that ordering it as a flat-pack isn't an option *

2.  Change the design and use a different cupboard style.  Hmmm......

What's the word?

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The soreness that I experienced yesterday following my jab (on Monday) has disappeared. However the sore foot has returned with the warmer damper weather.

@polybear further option; change supplier. I'm just about to do the same with my home & contents insurer, an accumulated number of admin 'mistakes' leads me to question how they might deal with a claim.
