Leipzig was one of the stations featured. It also showed the underground stations. You mean the tunnel stations on the suburban trunk line? They caught quite a bit of attention when the modernised suburban network went operational in 2013. I’d been quite familiar with the suburban tunnel routes in Frankfurt and also those in Munich and Stuttgart to some extent, so it wasn’t terra incognita for me. 15
Popular Post laurenceb
I have not got a clue what was no 1 when I was 7! Covid jab been administered, all well organised, asked at least 3 time if I was feeling well. The nurse went trough all the possible side effects then administered the jab. Told to sit down for 15 minutes (they put a sticky lable on with thime of departure on) A vast different experience to the one a friend reported. He was given the jab then got the speil about what it might do. Then told he could go, no wait 15mins or indeed no place to sit 19

Baz I don't know about your part of the world Baz but in Cardiff there is a limit to the height of a fence you can erect at the front of your property - 1 metre https://wezaggle.com/what-is-the-maximum-fence-height-for-the-front-garden/ Hedges can be higher. Somebody locally put up a higher fence and was forced to lower it. Dave 7 1 2

But at least I get a choice of songs as it was a medley and there are some nice ones in there (for a 7 year old). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7_FSuz04Es It appears that the vaccinators are now alive to a wider range of medical conditions - I wonder if they are now working off the flu vaccine list as the lad has to have one of those and this afternoon he has been contacted by the surgery to arrange a Covid jab. He suffered pericardial effusion several years back so it looks like that might have been added or checked out against the rather vague 'a heart problem' listed as one of the medical conditions that will lead to a COvid vaccination being offered. Perhaps it also indicates locally reaching down to Priority group 6 as well unless they are being pushed ahead of the Group 5 65-70 group for some reason? The pest control man was very clearly an enthusiast for his work, very knowldgeable and (the wrong kind of) a warfarin based substance has been deposited in a number of places underneath the kitchen units. 18
RMweb Gold PeterBB Posted February 17, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2021 No charts in my day but can remember Violet Carson singing on BBC Childrens' Hour ... she became Ena Sharples in a new soap a while later! Completely off-topic but the last episode of Dick Barton Special Agent has just come to mind - lousy reception and replaced by The Archers - an everyday story of country folk - the week after.
chrisf
A word of caution about the charts. Back in the day each of the music papers had its own chart - NME, Melody Maker, Disc and Record Mirror. The BBC took an average of all four to produce the chart used on Pick of the Pops, Top of the Pops and Radio 1. In about 1968 the British Market Research Bureau began to compile its own chart which came to be used by the BBC. Usually, but not always, the music papers agreed on what was no.1 but not on much else. On top of this Big L, aka Wonderful Radio London, had its own chart - the Fab Forty - which claimed to be a couple of weeks ahead of the others and probably bore little relation to sales. Chris116 might like to draw on his inside knowledge to verify this, or not as the case may be! Popular Post Ian Abel
@trisonic Welcome back, hope you're recovering OK... HUMP day, and momentarily caught up in the RMWeb "fix/update" as I was about to post Little to report yesterday, although the Long Island client is starting to ramp up their Year-End/Audit panic, easing into it now. In a new twist on an old adage, let's try "Poor planning on OUR part, DOES INDEED constitute an emergency on everyone else's part"... courtesy the Texas energy commission!! Apparently they DELIBERATELY PLANNED; 1) To be energy independent from neighboring states - how's THAT working out 2) Decided to NOT have secondary/backup sources or alternative energy for their power stations, deeming them a waste of money. 3) Also decided to not WASTE money on heating/de-icing add-ons for their wind based generators, since there's not a REGULAR NEED for them! Enter the ever changing CLIMATE/WEATHER with a resounding "HOLD MY BEER"! Most of Texas now with severe power problems, requesting urgent supply of generators from FEMA, and generally confused that "WEATHER" has caused a nightmare for most of the state. Wonder if those wanting to secede will see the irony, probably not -19 here and cloudy first thing, supposed to get an inch of snow today, high around -10 Carry on. Chris It got to number 5 This is why I'm glad it didn't make Number 1 at any time in 1963 It's hard to believe that this was actually considered "popular" music (i.e. Pop Music). It's hard to see what genre it would fit into. Pop, soul, gospel wouldn't fit (and it's as far away as you can get from heavy metal, rock, jazz blues or C&W) Now for those of you wishing for a decent tune to rid your memory of the above, may I offer Merle and Willie: Currently one of my "songs under construction" Cheers F 13

Best wishes to you and yours and I’m certainly not alone in hoping to be reading from you more regularly! Something seems to have upset my stomach, but I’m getting hungry anyway. Quite possibly due to the break from my accustomed working hours and lack of sleep. At least I’m having the weekend off entirely. 17

Even Guernsey and Mull are among smaller islands which have (or have had) railways. Larger islands which are sometimes thought not to have any railways include Tasmania. There is in fact a modest freight-only network in use there and upon which passenger specials operate on very rare occasions. Moves to reopen the passenger service between Hobart, Devonport and Launceston continue to fall on deaf ears. There is also the remote and spectacular West Coast Wilderness Railway which uses the Abt rack and pinion system to get heritage passenger trains through the mountains and includes the delightfully-named station of Dubbil Barril 13
