Third muggatea has just been commenced and no doubt the next one will follow fairly soon after. Continuing on the fuelling theme last night's curry was as good as usual and greatly enjoyed by all but my mushroom supply is exhausted so i suspect it will be baked beans and sausages for lunch and an as yet undisclosed menu for this evening. Big task todauy is to try and get an article completed although the person dealing with them is only starting 'design' on my previously submitted one today if she can get it transformed from Pages to Word - looks like I might need to find a certain disc I have somewhere and load Word if there's no other way round things. Have a good day one and all and stay safe. It is quite easy to transform a Pages file to a Word file (although you may have discovered this already by now). All you need to do is export the pages file, and you will get a choice of several different formats. I think the problems can arise with getting Word to recognise the products of other OS machines. 7 3

Popular Post Ian Abel
Morning all - a national holiday here, "Presidents Day"! Uneventful Sunday, except I DID get one of my two 400-day Anniversary clocks repaired and running. Needs an adjustment for slow/fast as it's off about 4 minutes from when I got it going, but very pleased with the fact it's going at all We'd decided to have Whitney checked by the vet as she was still consuming copious amounts of water so booked her in for 8AM this morning! So much for sleeping in on a holiday All checked out OK from the urine sample and check-up, and with the "history" of us giving her the food Bob takes conclusion for now is simply what we'd surmised. The urinary tract food he gets is designed to have the animal(s) consume plenty of water, and that's what is for now the diagnosis. Giving it three or four days and if no change, back in. A reminder of what BLQQDY COLD is in non-extreme locations (i.e. this IS a major city in the US!) it was -28C with a wind chill making it -34C at 8AM Neither Whitney nor myself exactly keen to be out in that, though it's somewhat common here in winter. Only -23 now, back from the vet, expected to manage a high of -18 today. Hope you stay safe and the week starts well. 6

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted February 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2021 Managed to twist my back putting the pump into the lake.. which is now reasonably dry. My back is very sore now.. PAH! Next door have realised that building on the garage means no where to park the van.. Solution.. concrete over the front garden.. er noo.. that will flood our garden so get a really water specialist in (not like the cow boys who did their cavity wall insulation - some of which is now in our garden).. She has been out all day in the mud to dig all of the garden plants out.. we will be building a little wall on our side of the boundary and fitting a high fence on your side.. er wrong.. it has to be on the boundary.. but if that happens.. the van doesn't fit.. They are submitting plans for planning permission to the council.. any chance of seeing them first ? No! Real good neighbours they are.. Of course once they have ruined this house they are selling it and moving on.. Just wish they would go away now! Baz 2

I would how much global warming, energy usage, chemicals etc etc get used as a result. Funny - our son was talking about that yesterday. He was in Ecuador at this time last year on business. He drove through areas with nothing but flowers growing in the fields. At Quito airport, there was almost no space on the tarmac - air freighters everywhere. Most of the Valentine’s Day flowers in North America come from South America. He remarked to someone that it must be pretty good for the country’s economy. Apparently not - while there is a trade in flowers all year long, it’s only like that for the two weeks before Valentine’s Day. Popular Post monkeysarefun
The local news media, starved of Covid stories for the last month or so due to lack of covid were finally able to unleash their pentup hyperbole and dramatic flourishes yesterday with their live coverage of the plane carrying our first doses of Pfizer vaccine landing at Sydney airport, which is ironic given that thats how the virus got here too. There were regular 'crosses' all afternoon to reporters on the scene who were able to report breathlessly on the status of its unloading with distant shots of 'things' happenning around the aircraft. They interviewed an expert on airplanes who was able to describe how they would probably get the vaccines off the plane - turns out they'd unload it the same way they unload stuff from every other plane. From there the vaccine was off by road, presumably using some kind of 'truck' - they didn't have an expert for that bit so thats me going out on a limb there- to a 'secret warehouse' somewhere in Sydney.. I was more excited about actually seeing a plane. Edited February 15, 2021 by monkeysarefun

Baz Is this the same neighbour that has just fitted an open fire in an area where such things are not permitted? Wouldn't it be a shame if the relevant authorities were to be tipped off Timing is everything though - wait until they have sorted everything and decorated, so that changing it causes maximum upheaval and expense.... Bear felt duty bound to sample the following delight - a Co-op "Hand Finished Salted Caramel Cake"..... Very sticky, very gooey, stunningly yummy. Restricted to Bears only sadly, so you guys (and ladies) will sadly have to take my word for it.... A bit more coving done, but never got around to planning the cooker hood chimney issue - that's for tomorrow. My Screwfix and Toolstation orders were delivered simultaneously today, which is pretty good going as they were only ordered yesterday. I also managed to sell an old scanner via ebay - the guy is due to collect it anytime now, so a few more kitchen tokens earned. I could've made a few quid more on the sale but didn't want the ba11-ache and risk of packing and posting it, so collect only was the deal, with cash on collection (which also means no funny business with the seller claiming it doesn't work (I tested it today) and doing a Paypal refund. Tomorrow's fun will be the cooker hood chimney, along with filling and sanding the coving joints (I actually started that today - it's about as much fun as it sounds...). RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted February 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2021 If Barry’s neighbour was round here they certainly wouldn’t be allowed to concrete over a front garden. Some concrete is allowed but it mainly has to be porous. We have a concrete drive just wide enough for two cars, a path made of pavers that grass can go through and the rest is grass, lawn would be too nice a word to describe it. 16 5

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted February 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2021 Evenin' each. Our parcel turned up about 10 minutes before the advice that it was "out for delivery." Still, at least The Boss is happy. We then went for a walk but had to turn for home sooner than I wanted to as my hip was giving me too much aggro so I only managed a mile and a quarter. Still , that's better than not at all which is what we've walked for the last week or so. The good news is that grandson Joe who is Type 1 diabetic has got an appointment for a jab on Wednesday. It does seem that around here the vaccine is rolling out quite quickly. 15

Apart from planning issues, depending on the nature of the run-off/flooding, you may have grounds for a civil law action under the law of tort (nuisance). And anyone selling a house has to declare if there are any disputes with the neighbours. Also, if they have 'form' in buying houses, doing up and selling on, they could be liable to Capital Gains Tax - yes, the principal private residence exception would usually apply, but if they cannot demonstrate that they did not purchase a property purely to make a profit, then this exception may not apply. Not many folk welcome a HMRC investigation into their finances. Three more options for you to cause trouble demonstrate it's not wise to try and trample on others? 18 3
RMweb Gold Popular Post TheSignalEngineer Posted February 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2021 Our vaccines are being run by the area's GPs in a centre set up in the cricket club. Very well organised but only getting enough vaccine for two days per week at the speed they can work. I didn't have an NHS invitation, got mine by text from the surgery. Mrs SE got hers the same way then got an invitation from the NHS on the day she was having the jab. On the home front eight hours without water now. Don't know how long it will be off but there is some flooding at the bottom end of town. 1
