Popular Post jonny777
Another bright but very cold and breezy start in North Somerset. Yesterday started like this but then clouded over which made it feel even colder as no sun was coming through the windows. I had my eleventh hour 'don't do it Dad' text from my youngest son who is an anti-vaxxer and flat earth obsessive. I told him my mind was made up, but when Bill Gates instructs me via a 5G phone mast to murder everyone in my street, he can come to court later at the trial and say 'told you so'. He seemed quite content with that. The starlings have become used to the spikes around the squirrel proof table bird feeder, but fatty the wood pigeon is not going to give up. He comes along on a regular basis even though each time he goes away empty handed (or beaked). I'm not sure which logic he is working to; maybe everything will come to he who visits often enough? 7 2

Aditi’s brother said at his practice, for each group they work from the eldest downwards. He said once a group has been selected by age they can see who lives at the same address so they can offer similar appointment times. 20 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2021 Decided not to go for a walk after next door neighbour called to borrow some of my road salt (I've got a dustbin full of the stuff) Her 78 yo quite fit 6'2" mum slipped and fell on the ice on her front doorstep earlier and is quite badly shaken up. Luckily nothing broken except her glasses but lots of cuts and bruises. Ali is taking her to the opticians for glasses repair and going to the shops so will pick up a couple of things The Boss wants. 1 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2021 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Pleasant surprise this morning, a packet arrived from France (no not that sort of package). It contained three diecast models of construction plant that I ordered via E-bay only four days ago, well done. Blowing a hooley outside but at least its dry so I'm venturing out for some more bread and milk and a few other things I'm running short of.
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2021 What an erudite group we have become all of a sudden, detail discussion of GWR wagons mainly by Midland fans, and duscussion of French words. We need to lower the tone, perhaps a discussion about the excellent cheese scones that I can smell as they are taken out of the oven. RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2021 Morning all, Bright sunny day out there but still somewhat chilly witha 'feels like' temperature of - something or other. I strolled down to the chiropractor yesterday, thence to WHS and through the town 'centre' on my homeward working and no sign of slippery pavements anywhere so walking felt quite safe but I did have a bit of a muscular twinge in one calf. I told the chiropractor about that so he duly treated it in his usual caring manner - causing me to say, somewhat sharply, 'bl**dy hell' as he concentrated on a muscle previously unknown to me that leg then worked like a spring chicken's as I strode home but the other one might benefit from the same treatment if I can stand the burning pain his firm treatment brings. As the pins have worked so well in my shoulder muscles he has upped the number and I came out this time with four in the back and two in the front of my right shoulder. But he's definitely a good bloke when it comes to dealing with my ancient body so I will probably stay with him even when my much gemtler regular man returns off post operative leave. Very pleasing to see a high level of mask wearing in the town with only a few of the younger folk not bothering as they walked about but I do wish those who keep running about would think a bit more carefully about their exhaust breath and mask up. Today herself will be venturing to Waiitrose so I shall be going down to collect her using the GDmobile which happens, as is often the case, to be the car which is stood open nearest the gate. that will give a chance to pass by teh river so I can see just how high it is although I doubt it will be very high because the level at the lock has now dropped to the red line 'alert' level which translates as minor flooding. Apparently the local paper is offering us some 'striking aerial views' of the flooding but if they're the same as last week's it isn't really very much and the flood plain visible behind Tesco was definitely not underwater a couple of days back - when teh river is flowing there you know it's fairly serious and a few properties by the river will be affected. Have a good day one and all and stay safe. 25 1
Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcup where there is a bright blue sky and it is sunny but it is still pretty cold with snow lying around. I received a package with some dried chipotles and Mexican oregano from Spice Mountain today. I was going to use them in something I cooked last weekend but I was too slow ordering! I made do with dried anchos and normal Italian oregano. Mrs Lurker has reached half term while Younger Lurker still has a day to go. I think some chinese style food is arranged for this evening to celebrate another Lunar New Year; well it is as good an excuse as any! I suspect there are some bubbles in the fridge too to celebrate getting to half term. Meanwhile I am still working (well obviously not quite now as I am on here distracting myself from the memo I am drafting!). On the timing of jabs, it appears that they also look at addresses; my Dad had his first jab five minutes before the next door neighbour and the second jabs are timed similarly too. That's handy because he can give my Dad a lift the 10 or so miles to North Tonbridge. Our next door neighbours had theirs the other day; they are both in their 60s so we would appear to be ahead around here, despite London as a whole ranking low on the percentage of jabs offered league table. Have a good day all

Popular Post jonny777
I spoke to soon about the reaction to my covid jab. Approaching the 24 hour since injection mark, I suddenly felt very tired and very cold. It was just as the leaflet said - early flu symptoms, although I don't have a headache. Went to bed and slept for an hour, but continue to feel cold. I took my temperature and it was 37.0C which is surprisingly normal given my shivers. Oh well, at least it proves my immune system is reacting to the vaccine. My advice is, do not try and do anything important on the day after your jab. 5 4

leopardml2341
Hello All. Really must get my priorities right and stop letting work interfere with RMweb Anyway as it's POETS day I intend to do just that and take Doggo for a walk; its cold out there, but what I really don't understand is the BBC Weather guesstimate for tomorrow which shows this: In the header bar a max of -1 and a min of -1, but look at the hour by hour temperature range #confused 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2021 Well I have had to waste half of my day chasing my prescriptions halfway around Fraggle Rock, only for them to be found....still at the practice. A 'little annoyed' does not quite describe my current presentation. A once well run practice really seems to be dropping the ball on many aspects of their organisation recently. It was becoming important as one med was on its last day today, due to them asking me to wait last week......#sigh# Temperature outside is rather cooler than I am, a max of 2c has been seen, although once again wall to wall sunshine is evident. Still blowing a hoolie, but the ferry is risking a trip this afternoon I think. Siege of the UK relieved. Weather warning now upgraded to amber for tomorrow, with massive snowfall (5 - 10cm!! LOL) predicted. However will we cope.
jonny777
The idea that the temperature will be up to 11C on Monday is somewhat over optimistic, especially where there is snow on the ground. Any milder air crossing sub-zero ground will result in thick fog which is likely to halt any over-rapid temperature rise. If the warm front comes to a grinding halt against the cold air (I'm not saying it will, but there is a definite chance), there will be copious snowfall to the north and east of that line, but computers seem unable to grasp this. In January 1982, the temperature at RAF Chivenor (North Devon) reached 7C with a light SW wind, while the airport at Rhoose (Sth Glamorgan) was minus 2 C with a gale force easterly and heavy snow. How do I know this? Because I was the snowed in duty observer at the airport. However, those forecast charts are straight out of a computer somewhere - and who cares if it is right or wrong? The media can always blame the Met Office - easy target. 6 1

Popular Post Ian Abel
POETS, will partake... Nothing to reveal from yesterday, very pedestrian i.e. slow. On the "need to think things through" front; Whitney had a bit of a cough the past several days, early in the week we checked in with the vet who figured she had a scratched/sore trachea, unknown source. Recommend to provide soft food for a few days rather than her usual crunchy fare. Excellent says "we". Bob only eats soft/canned food, so we'll use that for a couple of days. Whitney overnight yesterday and all day drinking a LOT of water and resulting in VERY frequent excursions outside to wizz. Suddenly LAST NIGHT around 9, we had a eureka moment Bob gets prescription food due to a prior urinary tract condition, helps him consume enough water to keep the waterworks active/running! DUH! It's now very apparent the prescription food works, except poor Whitney has been drinking tons of water and needing to visit outside almost on the hour! Whitney now back on her original diet, and we're hoping - since LAST NIGHT we were up almost every hour - that it turns around quickly Weekend should involve, continuing to solve our murder mystery, repair of the 400-hour anniversary clock, miscellaneous tasks. NONE involving being outside much, if at all, see below! -26 and sunny first thing, -18 for the high. Weekend weather much the same, lows expected to be -29 and highs around -20. An inch or so of snow at some point. Hope your weekend goes well Edited February 12, 2021 by Ian Abel
